Barchester Mulberry Court Care Home makes the most of pleasant grounds and a versatile interior to provide top quality nursing and residential care, with professionals available round-the-clock and also skilled in care and support for physical disabilities and dementia.

A committed team work hard to ensure that all provision is tailored to the individual, while allowing them to make the most of a relaxed and homely atmosphere.

All staff are carefully chosen and well-qualified to achieve the best standards, with the company philosophy focusing on an attentive service that also supports an active lifestyle. Personal interests are encouraged and there is much to enjoy within the life of the home.

My mum moved here in July 2022 to receive end-of-life care. The home was identified by the NHS, but I couldn't have found anywhere better: I have no worries about the care mum receives. My mum is comfortable and in no pain, due to the quality of nursing and carer support she receives. She looks clean
and well cared for when I visit - every 2 days - and she has a pleasant and nicely furnished room, which is always clean. Mum says she likes her carers and they are kind to her. Mum can't access other facilities as she is now bedbound, but my observations are that the restaurant menus look tempting and smell lovely, and there are plenty of activities available for residents. Staff are genuinely welcoming and supportive to relatives, and communicate well with me, updating me on mum's health as needed. I think Mum's unit manager has built a passionate and skilled team who are all positive about their role. I hear lots of laughter, which is lovely.

There is very good care here. The staff are enthusiastic and caring. There is a wonderful varied range of daily activities, and the food is good. The accommodation is spacious, and there are lovely well-tended gardens.

My dad has regularly stayed in Mulberry Court for respite, for both him and myself (as his full-time carer), for about four years. During respite breaks, I don't usually visit. However, Dad has lived here permanently since February, and I am here every day. I am extremely impressed with Dad's care providers.
The staff are fabulous and so friendly. It feels like a family home. I go home in the knowledge that Dad is being very well cared for.

My husband and I visited my mother-in-law on Christmas Day which was also her Birthday. We watched a member of staff feed her the lovely Christmas lunch. She and all the other staff are very kind and caring. It was great to hear the member of staff say how much she enjoyed her job and how rewarding
it was and also that the staff get on well.

My mother has lived at Mulberry Court (Barchester Healthcare) in York for two and a half years. Like so many people, she would have liked to stay in her own home, but this became impossible. We initially booked a respite stay of three weeks. During this period she began to make friends and was very
happy with the care she was receiving. She decided that she would like to move in permanently.
I can honestly say that she is looked after with professionalism, care and love by wonderful, dedicated staff and I have seen so many instances of kindness. Everyone really does go the extra mile.
She has made new friends and is no longer lonely. She now refers to Mulberry Court as ‘home’.

We are hugely impressed with the care that my Dad, a 95-year-old stroke patient, has received at Mulberry Court. The staff and leadership are, without exception, kind, good-humoured, well-trained and helpful. Everyone on the staff has gone out of their way to make my dad's life as pleasant and comfortable
as possible. The food is of a high standard, and my Dad's room is pleasant and cosy. We cannot thank the manager and his team enough.

Very caring staff, especially in the current Covid19 crisis - organizing Socially Distanced garden visits, doing residents hair before the visit (thank you very much). The senior manager always responds to queries and provides helpful advice.

During COVID, the manager and staff have been outstanding! we have received regular communication and a clear rationale for decision making. The Manager has had to make some difficult decisions but this has always been to ensure the safety of the residents and staff. Key staff who I know so well have
FaceTimed me regularly so I can see and talk to my Mum, this has made the last few weeks easier to manage. I would like to thank each and everyone at Mulberry Court.

A good care home. The one thing I find could be improved is the bread, almost like a paste in the mouth. Perhaps a new supplier? A nice, homely atmosphere and surroundings. We do have an excellent manager and staff.

Mulberry Court is a very good care home. The staff are so kind and pleasant. The activities could be better. My sister went to do a jigsaw and she said there was 1 jigsaw and several people trying to do it, she had to look at it upside down.
It would be nice if someone could look after flowers. On
her birthday they were dead (after 2 days), they hadn't been topped up with water.

My uncle moved to Mulberry Court from a different care home in January 2019. He was extremely settled within a few weeks. I'm so happy to see that he is kept spotlessly clean, he loves the food and for the first time since moving to residential care, he is joining in activities. If I've had any concerns,
these are addressed immediately and feedback given to me. I'm completely satisfied with the care he receives.

Mum has been a resident since February 2017 at a time when she was finding it more difficult to live alone.
Having the friendship of fellow residents and caring staff has helped her settle and feel at home, whilst our family are happy she is in good hands and well cared for.

The staff are excellent - very caring and have guided Mum through various problems while she has been here.

My father received end of life care in Mulberry Court care home. The last 3 weeks of his life were as comfortable and pleasant for him and for his family as they could possibly be. This was due to the excellent care he was given by all the staff that looked after him. Without exception, they were all

Hello, my name is Rachael and I am the General Manager here at Mulberry Court.


I have worked in the social care industry for over 20 years and I joined the Barchester family in July 2022.


I have returned to East Riding following my husband’s completion of 35 years of royal naval service and semi-retirement, we are so pleased to be back in our home county to spend time with family and our young granddaughter.


I was recognised and awarded Hampshire’s care home manager of the year in 2020 for fantastic leadership and commitment to the social care sector and I am delighted to have joined the family here at Mulberry Court to share my knowledge and experience.


I am passionate about person-centred care and getting out and about locally with the residents and looking forward to getting to know everyone individually. ‘Being a manager is not just a job it’s a way of life and everyone in my care is treated like family’.

I have been a qualified RGN since 2005 and have worked in nursing homes and rehabilitation centres bringing a wealth of knowledge and experience to the home.

I worked at Mulberry Court as a Bank Nurse for many years, whilst also having a career in the NHS. In 2017, I was invited to apply for the role of Unit Manager by the management team. I was successful in my application and took up the post in July of that year.


The unit I am responsible for is called ‘Regency Suite’ and is on the first floor of the building. I am very proud of the work I do at Mulberry Court, promoting good nursing care for residents and fostering a sense of team spirit and a welcoming atmosphere.

Hi, I'm Mark I am the new head chef here at Mulberry Court Care Home, I've been working in the hospitality sector for over 20 years now after starting in a country pub at the tender age of just 14 washing up!


That is where they began to teach me how to cook and that’s when my love for cooking and this career path began, once I’d finished my exams at school, I then went to York College to gain both experience and a recognised qualification.


As I progressed and furthered my career, I worked in several places before I then became head chef at a number of busy restaurants both in and around the York area developing my skills further as I went.


Outside of work, I have two young children who are my absolute world and when I am not at work, I will be found doing something with them.

Hi, my name is Debbie and I am the Hospitality Services Manager here at Mulberry Court. I have worked at Mulberry Court for 20 years starting as a carer and then onto housekeeping and hospitality.


I enjoy my job very much particularly meeting and speaking to residents on my rounds. I pride myself on having high standards and am dedicated to maintaining a clean and tidy homely environment with the support of my housekeeping team.

Hi my name is Craig and I took on the role as head of maintenance in June 2024 after running my own property maintenance business for around 4 years, it has been a big change for me from working on my own for so long to being part of a team again but no two days are ever the same here at mulberry with lots of variation in the jobs/tasks that I do on a daily basis.


It’s nice to be able chat to with residents whilst carrying out my work hear their stories, and life experiences and learn about their varied backgrounds.

Hi my name is Zoe I am the lead activities co-ordinator here at Mulberry Court, I started in January 2024 having previously worked at another care home on reception, however, I started doing more and more activities with the residents there so when I got the chance to move across to a Barchester home and do the role of lead I took the opportunity.


I have always enjoyed organising and am usually the one in the family who brings everyone together and sorts things so I feel I have found my true calling!


I am so lucky to be able to say I love my job, no two days are ever the same, although every day is so rewarding and to know I have made a difference to someone is the greatest feeling whether that’s through a group activity or an individual room visit to even stopping and saying a few words to them.
