Barchester Mulberry Court Care Home makes the most of pleasant grounds and a versatile interior to provide top quality nursing and residential care, with professionals available round-the-clock and also skilled in care and support for physical disabilities and dementia.

A committed team work hard to ensure that all provision is tailored to the individual, while allowing them to make the most of a relaxed and homely atmosphere.

All staff are carefully chosen and well-qualified to achieve the best standards, with the company philosophy focusing on an attentive service that also supports an active lifestyle. Personal interests are encouraged and there is much to enjoy within the life of the home.

The aim is to meet all residents’ needs over the long-term, living up to a reputation for quality that Barchester homes have earned.

My mum has been very happy here for the past 3 years. She finds everyone to be friendly. She feels safe. She enjoys the privacy of her own room, combined with the opportunity to meet up with other residents during activities.

The home has a welcoming, homely atmosphere. Dad is extremely well looked after and nurses and care staff are happy, caring and friendly with lots of patience.
The greatest asset is the staff. I am very impressed with how their holistic approach is totally encompassing involving all staff.
The manager
is calm, friendly, chatty, very approachable and the nurses/carers really care.
The home is unique in my experience (13yrs) as all staff talk to you and know who you are. In dad’s first week, I visited another resident and a carer knew who I was!
Nothing is too much trouble. I had lemonade in my bag and a carer said: “I will carry it for you”.
Maintenance guys are obliging and helpful. We asked if a picture could be put on the wall, They did it straight away.
They have time for you say hello, chat or talk about dad.
In reception, the chef asked could he help. Outside admin’s office, a housekeeper asked could she help.
You feel part of the home, one big happy family.

My father was transferred from a hospice to Mulberry Court. He sadly only spent one week there before he died but the care he received was wonderful and the staff were a great support to us as a family. The home is beautiful, clean and comfortable. We could not have asked for anywhere better for dads
final days. Thank you.

Mum was transferred to Mulberry Court (MC) on fast track palliative care nearly two and a half years ago. The staff in all areas looked after Mum in a dignified and caring way.
She was safe, well fed and we as a family had peace of mind.
On all of our visits, we had good interactions with all the
Management and staff, and they tried hard to accommodate any request we put forward with regards to Mum’s care.
She attended activities most afternoons by gentle coaxing, although due to her limited eyesight and hearing, she wasn’t able to take part fully but, she was with friends she had made in the home.
Every two weeks on a Sunday, a church service was held and Mum found great comfort and enjoyment and rarely missed one.
Sadly Mum passed away three weeks ago, and the love and kindness shown for her was superb and as a family, we would like to thank the Manager and staff.

We were very happy with the care and support my father and family received from Mulberry Court, York. The staff were caring and looked after us all. I would say that the visitor's toilet, bin and sanitary bin needs emptying more regularly. We were always made to feel welcome and we felt that staff were
genuine, supportive and personable.

From our initial visit and throughout my friend's stay at Mulberry Court all the staff were open, polite and caring treating both my friend, ourselves and other visitors in a warm and welcoming way. Whenever I needed to ask questions these were always answered in a timely and appropriate manner. There
was a feeling of "openness" which is to be commended. The only area which I would feel may be improved, and may well have been in newer premises, is the actual size of the individual washroom that was in my friend's room. I feel that it may well be ok for one person on their own able to toilet themselves however, it presents more of a problem when assistance is required e.g when 1 or more carers have to be involved in transfers or, as was the case with my friend, when a wheelchair/commode had to be used. Inherently this would appear to be a design fault in the building itself or it may be that the nature of the needs of the current users has changed since it was opened.

My mother was admitted to Mulberry Court late August and unfortunately, she passed away in October 2017. In her short time there she was very content, she had much fondness for the staff. Mum wasn't very mobile but the staff were excellent at getting her to anything she wanted to get involved with.
All the staff were extremely respectful and helpful when mum sadly passed away.

I have put mainly good in the review below but my main concern is that although the majority of staff are good with dad's care (especially his problems (back and left side) as I come every night, I find him slightly unsettled as he seems to get his meds (painkillers especially) a lot later than when
regular staff are on. It seems to me mainly at the weekend when staff seem to be stretched.

I can only give praise to the staff at Mulberry Court. A warm welcome on reception, domestic, catering, health care assistants, staff nurses, sisters, to the manager. They were all professional, friendly and helpful. The care, well being and needs of the residents, service users was their priority.
I have missed visiting Mulberry Court and the staff who were friends taking an interest in relatives lives and well being.

Hello, my name is Rachael and I am the General Manager here at Mulberry Court.


I have worked in the social care industry for over 20 years and I joined the Barchester family in July 2022.


I have returned to East Riding following my husband’s completion of 35 years of royal naval service and semi-retirement, we are so pleased to be back in our home county to spend time with family and our young granddaughter.


I was recognised and awarded Hampshire’s care home manager of the year in 2020 for fantastic leadership and commitment to the social care sector and I am delighted to have joined the family here at Mulberry Court to share my knowledge and experience.


I am passionate about person-centred care and getting out and about locally with the residents and looking forward to getting to know everyone individually. ‘Being a manager is not just a job it’s a way of life and everyone in my care is treated like family’.

I have been a qualified RGN since 2005 and have worked in nursing homes and rehabilitation centres bringing a wealth of knowledge and experience to the home.

I worked at Mulberry Court as a Bank Nurse for many years, whilst also having a career in the NHS. In 2017, I was invited to apply for the role of Unit Manager by the management team. I was successful in my application and took up the post in July of that year.


The unit I am responsible for is called ‘Regency Suite’ and is on the first floor of the building. I am very proud of the work I do at Mulberry Court, promoting good nursing care for residents and fostering a sense of team spirit and a welcoming atmosphere.

Hi, I'm Mark I am the new head chef here at Mulberry Court Care Home, I've been working in the hospitality sector for over 20 years now after starting in a country pub at the tender age of just 14 washing up!


That is where they began to teach me how to cook and that’s when my love for cooking and this career path began, once I’d finished my exams at school, I then went to York College to gain both experience and a recognised qualification.


As I progressed and furthered my career, I worked in several places before I then became head chef at a number of busy restaurants both in and around the York area developing my skills further as I went.


Outside of work, I have two young children who are my absolute world and when I am not at work, I will be found doing something with them.

Hi, my name is Debbie and I am the Hospitality Services Manager here at Mulberry Court. I have worked at Mulberry Court for 20 years starting as a carer and then onto housekeeping and hospitality.


I enjoy my job very much particularly meeting and speaking to residents on my rounds. I pride myself on having high standards and am dedicated to maintaining a clean and tidy homely environment with the support of my housekeeping team.

Hi my name is Craig and I took on the role as head of maintenance in June 2024 after running my own property maintenance business for around 4 years, it has been a big change for me from working on my own for so long to being part of a team again but no two days are ever the same here at mulberry with lots of variation in the jobs/tasks that I do on a daily basis.


It’s nice to be able chat to with residents whilst carrying out my work hear their stories, and life experiences and learn about their varied backgrounds.


I have settled in well here at Mulberry and I look forward to using my knowledge and background for some projects around the lovely home and award-winning gardens we have here at Mulberry Court.

Hi my name is Zoe I am the lead activities co-ordinator here at Mulberry Court, I started in January 2024 having previously worked at another care home on reception, however, I started doing more and more activities with the residents there so when I got the chance to move across to a Barchester home and do the role of lead I took the opportunity.


I have always enjoyed organising and am usually the one in the family who brings everyone together and sorts things so I feel I have found my true calling!

I love living at Mulberry and I enjoy being the Resident Ambassador.


Residents have said that I’m a very heartwarming, soft and patient gentleman who gives comfort to all. I’m a true gentleman and as I say “What you see, is what you get.”


I enjoy going for walks around the local area with other residents for Roy’s Magical Mystery Tour.
