My dad was a resident from February to June 2023. The care provided was very good, the carers always trying to support my dad who was challenging. The glimpses of my dad enjoying himself dancing with care staff demonstrated a positive relationship between carers and my dad.

Thank you to all staff who looked after our sister. Always kept informed of any problems. All staff willing to have a chat. Dietary needs were met. Dogs were allowed to visit and always made welcome by all staff.

My very grateful thanks to the manager and the staff at Aspen Court Care Home. My aunt and uncle had to be taken into care at the end of last year as they were unable to look after themselves and had poor health. They settled in well with all the care and attention. Unfortunately, my uncle passed away
in January. The manager organised the funeral of which I am most grateful.
We need more places and people like yours. Thank you so much for your hard work. I cannot thank you enough the care you give in looking after my aunt. Your kindness and dedication goes a long way in keeping her and all residents happy. I hope you know that you are appreciated each and every day.

My mam has been in Aspen a good few months now. She settled straight away. The staff are amazing and mam enjoys singing and dancing with them all. All staff are amazing and the manager keeps us informed on any changes or anything we need to know. Always greeted with a hello or wave if the manager is
busy. I am so happy we chose Aspen for mam's care.

Every time I come to visit my grandma I am always greeted with warm smiles. If I ever feel anxious about seeing her, all staff are friendly and are glad to help. This makes my overall experience amazing.

My husband has been a resident for almost 2 years at the most difficult time of covid and closures, not being able to see our loved ones. It was a relief when we were allowed in to actually see what the home and staff were like. I was lucky in this trying time to have Aspen recommended to me when my
husband needed nursing care and I could not visit the building. His care by all the staff has been very good. They all work so hard to keep both residents and visitors happy. It is pleasing that things are getting back to normal with activities for those who can take part. Knowing they are cared for is important to family.

My Father has been a resident in Aspen Court for 2 years. He has received outstanding care and support from all staff. The manager and reception staff are amazingly kind, caring, supportive and very welcoming. The carers work so hard making a happy, relaxed environment and my Dad who is so precious
to me is happy and very well looked after. For this, I will be forever grateful. It's not just a job to all staff including the manager, they genuinely care. Highly recommended. Thank you.

I have found the Manager, Office staff, Nurses and all staff very accessible as regards answering any queries or discussing any problems. The nursing care, as far as I am concerned, given to my wife could not be bettered and the daily care given by the carers is brilliant! The Kitchen staff are great
as regards the food prepared and the dietary demands, likes and dislikes which they bring into consideration for my wife. Cleanliness is of a very high standard in all departments. Everybody is very friendly and helpful for anything ranging from help and advice to listening to the needs of my wife and concerns that I and the family may have. The love and care given is exemplary and I would have no concerns at all in putting forward the name of Aspen Court, Gateshead as a Home to be trusted for all that is excellent in care and nursing! My wife suffers from dementia and has resided at Aspen Court since January 2018.

All the staff have worked really hard to help my mum settle in and recover more mobility.
I feel that she is safe and well looked after.
She has a lovely, spacious room, kind staff helping her and they keep me well informed when I can't visit in person. It is a difficult transition for Mum, but

My husband has been a resident of Aspen Court Moore Street Gateshead for the last 20 months. He has settled well and seems happy in his environment now after a very difficult start due to late-stage dementia. The fact that he has now settled down is due to the marvellous staff looking after him. I can't
thank them enough. The manager has been very helpful to me and listens to any problems that I have discussed with her and deals with them promptly and very efficiently. Visiting my husband is always a pleasure now after the past awful Covid months. Thanks so much to the manager and the wonderful carers at Aspen.

Dad has been in the care home for several years now. He has complex needs and sometimes displays very challenging behaviour. The entire team have been wonderful with him. He feels and acts like this is home. They understand the small things that help calm him and make him feel safe. Medication is never
their first option if interventions are needed. They have supported Dad and all of us during the Covid crisis, keeping him safe and out of the hospital. We would highly recommend this place to other families.

My mam has only been a resident of Aspen Court for a short time. After being admitted to hospital we were having a terrible time trying to find my mam an EMI Nursing place close to her family and friends. The manager of the home went out of her way to help us and was able to offer my mam a room. Due
to her Dementia, my mam has some challenging behaviour however all the staff have treated her with love and respect which is evident in the way my mam interacts with them. The manager and nursing staff have been a huge support guiding us through the assessment period and are always willing to answer any questions we have.

My mother was in this home for over a year and it was shockingly bad. The manager is an absolute disgrace with a volatile, nasty, horrible nature. I was banned from visiting my mam several times because she didn't like my 'manner' or the 'false' accusations made by her staff against me to defend themselves.

I would strongly recommend that nobody puts their loved ones into this horrible, uncaring, and as admitted by one of their nurses "negligent" home. All they are interested in is money, and when my mother passed away they couldn't wait to fill the room fast enough.
Absolutely dreadful, avoid.

In response to your review, I as a manager have a duty of care to protect our residents and provide a safe working environment for staff.
First and foremost residents must be able to go about their day-to-day lives in the knowledge that they are safe and protected whilst in our care.
Our staff are trained to act in the best interests of our residents, which involves fostering close working relationships with families and friends and we do our utmost to accommodate any requests.
But requests and behaviours should not infringe, disadvantage or upset our service users as if we were to allow this, it would be morally wrong and in breach of the CQC regulations.
Our staff, just as NHS staff, also have the right to come to work and carry out their duties in line with the best interests of service users and without having to endure the unreasonable behaviour of others.

The care my father received was outstanding. All the staff were fantastic. On the last day of my dad's life, the on-duty nurse explained everything to me and the staff were a massive support to me that day and throughout his whole stay there.

I was very anxious about my mother going into care but she is safe and well. Her mobility very quickly improved dramatically. The staff seem lovely, the home is spotless and there's no smell. The rooms and en suites are spacious and pleasant. On the whole, I am very pleased with my mother's care. The
admin could be improved - eg I once went to visit only to find the home in covid lockdown but no one had informed me. I had to prompt the home to get my mother's hearing aids replaced - and she is even more isolated without them. I wish more effort could be made in relation to activities - I realise this is difficult but my mother just seems to be sitting around all day.

My mother-in-law was taken to Aspen Court (Gateshead) on 16/12/21. My wife and I live in Oxfordshire. From the very first day, the care home manager has been in contact with us. The head of care staff and so many more, have gone beyond help and assistance to my wife and I. The care all the staff (too
many to mention) have given to my mother has opened our eyes to how they care. They give my mother everything and really pamper her every need. The care home is beautifully clean with all procedures in place for COVID. My wife and I know my mother is in safe hands 24/7. If anyone reads this review please consider this facility. They phone us with updates constantly which is great reassurance and a great weight off our shoulders as we live 300 miles away. A massive thank you to you all.

Excellent care service, our mother was admitted into care setting following Covid in 2020.
The staff are caring, cheerful, responsive, to individual needs. Our mother has difficult and challenging behaviours as a result of Lewy body dementia, and the staff treat her with dignity enabling and individually
making this transition to care somewhat easier for the family.
