My mother went into this care home at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic so we were not able to have a look around before she was admitted. During her time there we were not able to visit very often because of lockdown but on the occasions that we did the staff could not give us any information about
what my mother had been doing or how she was adapting. On two occasions my mother had injuries that the staff had failed to notice but we noticed through a glass door. One of these injuries was a broken finger that required hospital treatment. The staff could give no explanation as to how this injury occurred and when examined in the hospital we were told that the injury was about four days old. The other injury was deep scratches to her face that were caused by some wire my mother had wrapped around her finger. Again the staff had not noticed it but we were able to see it even though we were on the opposite side of a glass door.

Always found the home very helpful. They kept me informed how my dad was doing, which was especially good given that we have not been able to visit much the last year or so. We have now visited twice recently and can see he is happy living here.

Everything seems to be satisfactory, hard to say too much specific when restrictions have been tough but the staff i speak to are super helpful. One member of staff has been particularly helpful when we have called up.

My friend who used to reside at Balmoral Court was well looked after by the staffing team. We had regular calls using Skype together because I now lived abroad and she was quite fond of the staff there. From what she told me the Quality of Care was fantastic and she was very happy and enjoyed the activities
the home provided on a daily basis. I'd like to thank the staff for their hard work and dedication

My Aunty was admitted to Balmoral Court for end-of-life care, after a short stay in hospital.
I would offer my sincere thanks to the staff of the Kate Unit for the gentle, compassionate and professional care they provided. My aunt was able to spend her last few days in quiet dignity, with her closest
family nearby.
The management team was completely clear about what to expect and accommodating when the hospital failed to provide adequate information on the patient transfer.
I would thoroughly recommend this care home to anyone in a similar situation.

My grandmother came to the home in November, during that time She has settled in extremely well and is enjoying herself. During regular video calls, she tells me she likes the staff and the activities that they do and is very fond of the chickens and rabbits they have onsite.

I recently volunteered at Balmoral Court on activities. This was my first time in a care environment and the quality of care I witnessed was fantastic across the entire home. The care staff are fantastic and made me feel extremely welcome at all times. The activities girls within the home are fantastic,
there is always something to do at the home and there are singers in the home at least once a month and regular outings. The residents and families seem extremely happy with all aspects of life and the management team are fantastic. The registered home manager is fantastic and always strives to improve some aspect of the home.
I'd defiantly recommend Balmoral to my friends and family if they ever need a care home..

I visit my friend on a regular basis at Balmoral Court, the level of care is fantastic, with excellent activities with regular entertainers. The girls do a fantastic job. The care staff are very professional and caring. The manager is very dedicated and always makes me feel welcome and answers any questions
or concerns really quickly. The nurses are also fantastic.
Fantastic home and staffing team, feels more like a family than a care home.

Visited to find my mam very disorientated and in a state that she used to be in at a previous home. I explained to the staff that I suspected her blood sugars were high due to the way she was presenting.
A nurse immediately took a reading and they were high. The staff were very supportive to me as
they could see I was disturbed.
The whole situation was managed in a highly professional and caring manner.
The following day mam was back to her normal lovely self but the nurse on duty kept me informed via phone to reassure me that mam was ok.

The staff have been very helpful and welcoming since I've moved my dad here.
Especially since he can't speak English so it's sometimes hard to understand what he's asking for. They've made sure to include him in activities.

Balmoral is not just a care home, it goes above and beyond all expectations. My mum had been moved so many times that I lost all hope of finding somewhere that she could thrive, but I found it at Balmoral. Any and all problems are thoughtfully solved by staff that really care and would say love the
people who live there.

My friend currently lives at Balmoral Court on the male challenging behaviour unit. I visit him as often as I can and can honestly say I’ve never seen him happier. The staff engage with him, myself and everyone in such a caring way. It’s great to see a collective group of people all working so hard,
to provide what I would describe as the best care I have ever seen.
I always leave knowing my good friend is in an exceptional place and is getting cared for in a way you can wish for a loved one.

Current Review Score: 6.4 (6.430)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 6.4 (6.430) out of 10 for Balmoral Court is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 2.5 out of 5 from 13 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.9 out of 5 from 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 2.527 for Balmoral Court is calculated as follows: ( (33 Excellents x 5) + (26 Goods x 4) + (8 Satisfactorys x 3) + (81 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 148 Ratings = 2.527

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 3.903 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Balmoral Court is based on 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 = 3.6

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 99 registered maximum number of service users is 19.8. 6 Positive Reviews ÷ 19.8 = 0.303

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
