My aunt has lived at St Joseph's for 5-years and thoroughly enjoyed herself. Her first comments when I visited were, 'I've moved into a 5-star hotel'. She was well looked after, and in the last 12-months, my aunt's health has deteriorated, yet the staff have continued to take care of her even through
challenging times. I can't praise the staff highly enough for their kindness and caring approach. I would definitely recommend this care home to anyone considering living there.

St Joseph’s is focused solely on providing the very best care it can for all its residents. It is a family, where the residents and their family are part of one big family, one which is full of love and compassion. The staff are simply amazing; they are so dedicated, committed and hard-working, treating
all with such love, dignity and respect at all times. Whatever is needed, the staff do without question and always go that extra mile to support and care for their residents. It’s a truly wonderful place.

St Joseph's is a wonderful care home with a beautiful chapel and stunning grounds. The staff are very caring, respectful and professional. They seem to know all the residents very well and cater to their individual personalities and spiritual, physical and emotional needs. Visitors are always made welcome,
and they have gone above and beyond to continue to support family/friends contact during the pandemic wherever possible. I would definitely recommend St Joseph's to everyone.

I fell and broke my upper arm. The care home kindly took me in the following day from the hospital and gave me excellent respite care. The staff are friendly and helpful. The food is very good, and the facility is very clean. It's almost like staying in a 5-star hotel.

My mother moved into St Joseph's Home two and a half years ago, already living with advanced Parkinson's Disease. Sadly she passed away last week, but all the time she was there her care was second to none. The excellent nursing staff were always proactive regarding her medical needs, and the care staff
were always friendly, considerate and skilled in giving her the considerable help she needed. The accommodation and grounds are beautiful, too - overall a lovely place to be.

In May, my mother was discharged from hospital into the care of St Joseph's. She was frail, seriously underweight and understandably low in mood. She had severe pressure ulcers and the hospital's prognosis for her recovery from them was poor.
St Joseph's welcomed her warmly, and an immediate and thorough
assessment of her needs was made. The excellent nursing staff have patiently and successfully treated her pressure sores, an outcome that hospital staff had not thought possible. She is enjoying the good food and has made significant gains in weight. Her health has improved, her mood has lifted, she speaks of feeling safe, and is looking forward to her future there. That St Joseph's has achieved so much for my mother in such a short time, in the midst of the challenges posed by the global pandemic, is remarkable. It is a testament to the dedication and care of the whole staff group and to the culture of integrity and hard work fostered by the strong and committed leadership team.

I cannot praise this care home enough from the decoration, cleanliness, friendly staff, meals and most importantly the care. Well done everyone.

My mother spent nearly 3 months in St Josephs. Although some of the carers and nurses achieved high standards the leadership of the home was very poor. I had high hopes that this could be a good place for my mother to be looked after, I regret that my hopes were thoroughly dashed and consequently I
am unable to recommend St Joseph's as a suitable environment for the vulnerable.

We tried very hard to meet Richard's Mother's needs but as time went by it became evident that St Joseph's was not the right place for her. The decision to terminate her contract was not taken lightly and we hope that she will feel happy and secure where her needs are being fully met.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.619)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.619) out of 10 for St Joseph's Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 9 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.7 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.943 for St Joseph's Home is calculated as follows: ( (100 Excellents x 5) + (6 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 106 Ratings = 4.943

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.676 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for St Joseph's Home is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.9

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 58 registered maximum number of service users is 11.6. 9 Positive Reviews ÷ 11.6 = 0.776

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
