Wheatfield Court Care Home is situated in pleasant surroundings in the Westerhope area of Newcastle. It is within easy reach of the Durham Heritage Coast to the North, and the North Yorkshire coast to the South.

The highly committed and dedicated staff at Wheatfield Court work hard to deliver a caring and compassionate service, with a family-orientated approach to their work.

Residents are encouraged to remain physically and mentally active, to the best of their ability and the team works hard to accommodate the needs of all the residents, with a range of activities for them to enjoy in-house. There are also lots of activities available to the residents in the community.

Wheatfield has a wide range of residents, with varying capabilities and needs. Wheatfield Court provides nursing packages that are maintained by an advanced care team for residents with more complex needs. Respite and palliative services are also available.

The staff are very proud of the service they offer and work hard to create respectful relationships and strong bonds with families, visitors and professionals.

Excellent staff and care. We needed something between the hospital and home and this was exactly right. The nurse explained everything clearly when we arrived and the staff were always helpful and friendly.

My mother was admitted into the care home following a fall, she was there for a month, the care and rehabilitation was outstanding. Every member of staff from the cleaner to the sister was so friendly and respectful and my mother was well cared for and happy there. Nothing was too much bother, they
are all a credit to the social care sector.

This is the second time I have been a resident of Eden Court. I can honestly say, the standard of care is brilliant. Following a leg amputation, the staff have installed confidence in me to return to my own home.

I was transferred here from the hospital when initially I thought that I was being discharged. I was pleasantly surprised when I arrived to see how immaculately clean Eden Lodge was and I was very overwhelmed by all of the kindness from every single member of staff from the daytime staff all the way
through to the night staff, who work extremely hard 12-hour shifts, for very little wages. I would like to thank everybody who looked after me while I stayed at Eden Lodge. Thank you all so very much.

Since I have been here I have had a very good experience. Well looked after by all the staff, especially in the dining room and by the physiotherapists. I have enjoyed my stay at Eden Court at Wheatfield Court.

Lovely welcoming care facility. The staff have been very, helpful and supportive. Doctors have been amazing, and nurses are so helpful, caring communicative with family. Lovely activities, quizzes, beauty and parties. Felt so welcome. If there were any negatives it would be the carpets could be cleaner
and fresher and brighter bedding.

My mum became a permanent resident at Wheatfield Court Care Home in October 2022. All the staff in this care home are all very pleasant, caring and very approachable. My mum is happy and and it makes life easier when you know that, she is being well cared for, she mostly joins in with the other residents,
her friends, in the activities but has her own space when she wants it. The local area is nice to be able to take her out to, weather permitting. I feel we are very lucky to be given a place here for her. Thank you to the whole team for taking care of her.

Many meetings about the care of my mum and concerns, a serious complaint was made in October 2021 regarding an agency nurse, as the local team were very good. After many reminders regarding this complaint, telephone calls, emails etc, we were assured all this was in hand by the manager of this home.

My mum was admitted to the Eden Court floor of Wheatfield Court on 2nd Oct, she subsequently moved down to Wheatfield when her health deteriorated. I'm very happy with the care mum received and the support our family was given. The service is short of full-time permanent staff like most in the Health
and Social Care sector, however, the staff worked extremely hard to supply our mum with the best care possible. My mum passed away in the early hours of the morning of 3rd December but I feel I need to take time to say thank you to all staff involved in mums care over the last two months, yesterday and the early hours were obviously distressing for my family, the staff did there very best to make mums last hours comfortable and to support the family through this time, Thank you again to all the staff with a special thank you to the lady who supported myself and cared for mum on the night shift last night.

I advise anyone thinking of putting a loved one in this facility not to. My mother spent 24 hours in this place and the staff can not care for the very basic of needs of their residents. A patient waited over 45 min for the toilet, the place should be shut down and the staff need to be sacked. My opinion
of this place is absolutely disgraceful. Don't use this care home if you want a loved one taken care of. They are not what they seem.

My mam was brought to Wheatfield Court a few weeks ago, and all the staff have treated my mam with care, as well as being very honest and caring with us family members. My mam was in palliative care during her stay. Thank you to all the staff who cared for her and us every day we visited.

Over the week of Thursday 12th and 13th both times I had my visit I found the two carers on duty were amazing with my mam. On the 12th, the carer was chatting away to my mam, making her smile and laugh and making her feel like she was the only person in the room who mattered. She was great. On the 13th,
the same girl was on duty along with a male staff member. Both of these carers are younger and they attended to my mum's needs to a high standard. I feel somewhat this report does not give the guys in Wheatfield Court justice in what they do.

After a long time of not being able to get to a residents relations meeting due to Covid, we were greeted with so much enthusiasm for the future, the manager and her staff were upbeat and well organised. The plans for the way forward after this long journey seem really good, the home was clean and tidy
