My mother came to Garden Hill in September 2015 as end of life and down to the care and attention she gets from the staff at Garden Hill she still remains here. I am very happy with the care she receives and would recommend the care home to anyone.

Cannot fault the home. Every member of staff is very caring and any information you require, they are most helpful. I looked at other care homes before I decided and this one was streets ahead of any I looked at.
Faultless.

The care my grandmother has received during her time at Garden Hill Care Home has been outstanding, in particular, the care and respect shown during her end of life care.
The staff treat my grandmother and my family with respect and dignity.

I don't know if Garden Hill has the best facilities. I have no frame of reference. I do know that my nanas every need was taken care of from day one till the end.
The team are genuinely caring. Respectful and kind. A credit to the industry. Thank you from the whole family.

The care by all members of staff (day and night) has been absolutely outstanding; sensitive, respectful, gentle and genuinely caring. It was a huge comfort to know my nana has been so cared for during the past months. Cannot thank them enough and the overall support for the family - also excellent and
so genuine.

From the initial call to this care home I was impressed with the professional and caring way that I was spoken to. My Mother is treated by all staff in a very caring and dignified manner. Her room is beautiful and well furnished as is the rest of the care home. We receive daily updates on her health
and plans have been put in place to address her needs.

A friendly, caring, compassionate care home. My mother has lived at Garden Hill since her stroke in April 2017. She is receiving end of life care. The treatment she receives is 100% brilliant. Every person working here have their own unique way of making my mother feel happy and content. I would recommend
this care home to everybody.

Exceptional Care Home: as soon as you enter the building the warm friendly atmosphere is felt. The Manager, Nursing staff, housekeepers, admin, catering, laundry and maintenance are all professional, patient, kind, caring and always welcoming. Staff are always approachable and any queries, problems
are dealt with quickly. The home, rooms and facilities are spotlessly clean. The food is excellent with a varied menu. The activities co-ordinator ensures that there Is plenty of activities throughout the day and residents are actively encouraged to participate. All information is displayed as picture cards on boards so residents/family /friends know what is planned/what loved ones have been taking part in. Rooms are spacious with en-suite toilet and wash basins. Residents/family are encouraged to make rooms a home from home with personal items. Residents are treated as individuals and their dignity upheld at all times but most importantly they are loved and treasured by all the staff.

Came to view Garden Hill after a close personal friend recommended it to us. My mum needs full nursing care and all staff have ensured the transition into this new world has been as "painless" as possible. My mum has settled in very well and we all have been treated with care and respect.

The care home itself is clean and tidy. My granda said he really enjoyed the food. Some of the carers were fantastic with my granda. Unfortunately, we found the management to be inadequate and there were issues raised about his care on a frequent basis.

Always feels lively when you enter the home. The staff are always smiling and pleasant and on occasions when things get quiet they sit talking to individuals, show interest in the residents, and treat them with dignity. When I had to ring the alarm bell they responded in moments. My brother-in-law says
there is nothing he asks for that can't be given. Best carer home in the area. The staff are a credit.

I find this a good home for my mother she is happy here and well looked after. The food is good and the home is very clean and staff are friendly. They have activities and trips out on the bus. But as my mother is 95 she is quite happy in her room.

Current Review Score: 8.6 (8.583)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.6 (8.583) out of 10 for Garden Hill Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 4 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.9 out of 5 from 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.708 for Garden Hill Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (37 Excellents x 5) + (8 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 48 Ratings = 4.708

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 3.875 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Garden Hill Care Home is based on 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.375

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 40 registered maximum number of service users is 8. 4 Positive Reviews ÷ 8 = 0.5

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
