My mother lived in Harton Grange for over eight years and made good friends with residents and staff alike. I was made to feel very welcome during my daily visits, which I could make at any time. If I couldn’t make it in, I would ring up and the staff would give me an update. Nothing was too much trouble
and I could express concerns, which would be dealt with immediately, at any time. My mam had dementia/mobility issues and the staff tried their best to make her comfortable and keep her engaged. When I was in my mam’s room it felt like I was home with her as she had her pictures and ornaments around, together with her favourite music playing whilst we looked through photographs and chatted. After each visit, I felt happy mam was being well cared for and was safe. Harton Grange has a friendly, relaxed feel but I appreciate that all the staff work very hard to achieve this.

My aunt has been in this care home nearly 3 years. She classes it as home. The staff are really friendly and will do anything to help and make your family welcome. My aunt is really happy living here.

Very impressed with the level of care enjoyed by my mother in law. The staff always friendly and approachable, respond to any queries imminently or find a member of staff who does know the answer.
The range of activities outside the home and inside, plus they are always looking for new things to engage
the residents, currently having hens on site for the residents to interact with, in the past they have invited miniature ponies in, proving popular with one resident recounting his experience looking after a pit pony, just one example of getting residents talking and sharing experiences.
Overall trying and succeeding to provide a homely atmosphere, not a home institution experience.

When visiting my relative, I have found that they are dressed well and are comfortable in the lounge.
Staff are friendly and keen to help. Other residents seem comfortable and settled.
The home is clean and light and decorated nicely.

There is a nice calm and peaceful atmosphere in the home.
All staff are courteous and seem caring of patients, as well as each other and visitors.
I attended with a young child and all the staff made her welcome and pointed out areas and items she might find interesting.

My wife's father has been a resident here for a couple of months and we are very happy with his care. Not only is he happy and very settled, my wife is also a lot happier as he was depressed in his previous care home. My wife always looks forward to seeing her father as staff always keep her up to
date with his weekly outings and activities. The staff and management are a credit to the company.

I have nothing but praise for this care home which my aunt has now been in for several years. The manager and all her team provide a very high level of care to the residents and are constantly trying to improve the lives of the residents. There is a wide range of activities and events organised including
music, outings, film shows and crafts for residents wishing to join in, and families are welcomed to visit at any time.

My Mam has dementia and I am so pleased that she is at Harton Grange - having looked at a number of others in the town. Harton Grange stands head and shoulders above the others. The staff really care and are very attentive to my mother's needs, they keep us informed of any issues and there is a lovely
calm atmosphere around the place. I would recommend Harton Grange unreservedly.

The pre-residency visit and tour found to be very open, not pre-arranged and given freely.
Facilities and care are all that we could have hoped for and it is a comfort that mother is safe as she was previously struggling on her own at home.
Mother's comments are always complimentary and she is very
happy.

My mum, who is in her nineties and suffering dementia, came to live at Harton Grange in 2012. At first distraught at losing her old lifestyle, she has become more and more comfortable and even happy with life at Harton Grange. Living overseas, my visits are not as frequent as I would like them to be
but I’m comfortable that she is in good hands. On my last visit (April 2017) my mum seemed happier than I’ve seen her in years and is well on track to make it to 100! The staff are wonderful – always friendly and accommodating in true Geordie style. They make best efforts to keep the residents involved and entertained. The food is good and I’m welcome to join in at mealtimes. I can visit at any (reasonable) time and even get to play with the model railway in the lounge.

Job Title: General Manager

Hi, my name is Judith, and I am General Manager here at Harton Grange.


I have worked in the care industry since 2000. I have an NVQ Level 4 in Leadership & Management and a Level 3 in End of Life Care. I am kind and compassionate and I focus on providing a safe, warm and caring environment for everyone I support.


I have extensive experience in building positive relationships and embedding the key principles of care in those I work alongside.
