Our Mum/Mother in law was allocated Hebburn Manor as an emergency placement. This was/is such a stressful and difficult decision to make for all of the family. From our first arrival there each individual member of staff has made us feel welcome. The environment of the home is calm and friendly. We
do find it hard her being in there but knowing she is being well looked after and safe. Being cared for in a professional manner makes it easier. We would not hesitate to recommend Hebburn Manor to any family.

My experience was when visiting my brother I felt as though he wasn't getting the right care. This was flagged up with senior care. For example, the bed he slept in was too small for him. He was 6ft 3" so he couldn't get his legs straightened out, which caused skin damage to his toes and when I complained
to senior staff they said it was on order but four weeks past he was still in the same bed until he passed away. I felt they did not provide the right equipment for his needs. Many times the staff didn't check his fluid intake or encourage him to eat. He did not have a name on his door, and everyone else did. My brother asked us to take him for fresh air but this was bluntly refused by the nurse on duty who abruptly said he is too unwell. I and my other brother felt we were not heard at all so we gave him 24/7 care ourselves. I certainly do not believe this is a nursing home at all due to the lack of nursing care and inexperienced staff who are employed there.

A clean home but not enough staff for good care. My brother was a resident there, he needed extra attention as he was bedridden, which he didn't get. We often found him thirsty and looking most uncomfortable in the bed he had as it was too short for his needs, he was over 6ft. His teeth were not cleaned
on a daily basis he never had a buzzer and his door was often closed, therefore, if he needed help he didn't get any as he could barely talk let alone shout. The staff were friendly but obviously run off their feet so residents had to wait sometimes a while till their needs were met. Food I don't know as my brother gave up eating. All he wanted was very cold water which again was not available as there is no freezer on the top floor for ice cubes.

What I witnessed whilst visiting, was some staff were untrained on how to use a slip sheet. My brother was found on the floor during the night and no explanation was explained but bed rails were added the next day. We were told there was a bed on order as my brother was over 6 feet tall and the bottom
board was damaging his toes, this was reported twice, but it never came before he passed away. We visited daily and every time he begged us for a drink of water as he never had a buzzer that he could reach or shout for help. We ended up providing care 24/7 even sleeping on the floor to provide comfort on his last days, he also never had his name on his door like all the others did. We also reported this but nothing changed, all we got back was excuses of they were in the process of decoration and getting new carpets. He also begged us for some fresh air of which I was told he was too poorly. How these residents are being treated is so undignifying and unjust.

Mum has been a resident for over two years now. I get calls if anything is needed or to advise me of any health problems. I'm satisfied that Mum is in safe hands when I am over two hundred miles away.

The home is welcoming and the staff are caring and supportive. The rooms are pleasant and there is a program of activities to occupy and entertain the residents. There is regular liaison with doctors, health care workers etc.

Over the last 21 months, our family have visited our mother regularly and are very happy with her care. Communications between staff and ourselves have been excellent.
One very minor complaint, we bring flowers often however, they never get watered and wither in two days.

My mam was here for a period during April-May 2019. She had a terminal brain tumour and we chose Windsor Care Home as it states that it undertakes end of life and palliative care.
Windsor Care Home is not set up for palliative care. It is lacking some equipment that was vital for my mam’s care. For
example, they had been asked by the Macmillan nurse to ensure that a morphine driver was available for my mam, however, when required after 4 weeks it was still not available.
Also, medication to aid my mam’s swallowing very near the end of her life was not available even though the Macmillan nurse was told it was there.
A care plan had to be put in place by the visiting Macmillan nurses but was not followed by all staff leaving my mam in pain and discomfort.
Also suitable puréed food was not provided until my aunty complained to a nurse.
On a positive note, most of the nursing and care staff were very friendly, patient and caring with my mam. Sadly, my mam passed away on 27th May 2019.

Excellent caring staff from day one. The home is clean and welcoming. The meals are great and nutritious. I am very impressed with the staff nurse who has continued to give good care to my dad. I was concerned with my dad moving last year after being in a previous home for nine years but it has worked
out really well. My dad has settled and is very happy.
