My Dad, who has dementia, entered St George's directly from a month-long stay in hospital. In the first week that he has been there the transformation is remarkable.
He is much brighter and content with his surroundings.
In hospital, he was not eating, but here the staff are encouraging him to do
so. It may not seem a lot but he had his first full meal (fish&chips) in a month.
He has been shaved and had a haircut neither of which occurred in hospital. He has also had a bath and is being changed into clean clothes on a daily basis.
The staff are attentive and treat my dad as a human being rather than just being plonked down in a chair in front of a telly.
The home itself is well run, calm and clean. There are no nasty odours in the air which I was surprised at on my first visit.
A trip out is being organised for him and St George's offer a wide variety of activities in which I hope he will take part.
I could not be happier with the way my dad is being cared for.

My first contact with the home - St George's - was meeting the manager who was friendly, welcoming, professional and compassionate as well as understanding. This continued to the care home staff I have met.
My mother is 101 years old and they just know how to speak to her for her to respond. The home
itself is bright, calm, modern and a place you would want to be.
I find it very peaceful when I visit. I cannot praise it enough. I am so pleased I found it.

My husband has been a service user for long and short periods of time at St. George's Residential Home since November 2017. Throughout this time the quality of care he has received has been excellent. This high standard of care never varies. The management team and staff are consistently kind, caring
and professional. I am secure in the knowledge that when I am not there, my husband is safe secure and well cared for.

My husband went into St Georges for respite care as he is in the final stages of cancer. I am looking after him at home and I hurt my back lifting him. The management and staff were fantastic, I spent most of each day at the home with my husband and was very impressed with the caring attitude of all
the staff to my husband and all the other residents.

My Mam recently passed away in St George's Residential Care Home. Her end of life care she received by every single member of staff was exceptional. Mam was treated with so much love, respect and dignity, they also supported myself, my husband and daughter, I never felt alone as I spent precious time
with my Mam and for that, I will be forever grateful. It's a beautiful home, extremely homely, fantastic caring staff, so many activities, we could not have asked for more. I would highly recommend St. George's care home, thank you to each and every member of staff.

I have visited St George's Residential Home each week since it opened in a voluntary capacity as a pastoral worker at the church next door. My mother was also resident there for some years. The dedicated staff give excellent care to each resident and they seek to give the home as much as a family atmosphere
as possible and also give good support to the families.

Pleasant home to visit. Staff helpful and friendly (management the same).
My friend feels cared for both in health and friendliness.
Safety and security are good.

St George's was recommended to us and my Aunt viewed herself before committing to a stay. She thought it was a very friendly place she could settle into. The staff are great with her and she gets out and about quite a bit with the different activities they have going on. She is well cared for and I
would have no hesitation in recommending the home to others.

Current Review Score: 9.0 (8.995)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.0 (8.995) out of 10 for St George's Residential Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 6 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.4 out of 5 from 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.606 for St George's Residential Home is calculated as follows: ( (45 Excellents x 5) + (24 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 71 Ratings = 4.606

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.389 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for St George's Residential Home is based on 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 = 3.6

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 38 registered maximum number of service users is 7.6. 6 Positive Reviews ÷ 7.6 = 0.789

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
