Mam is new to St George's in January 2018. First impressions very positive, staff friendly, cheerful and helpful.
Initially few minor issues to be addressed any problems were sorted within a few days.

My mother was sent to St George's seven years ago on palliative care. She was nursed back to health by the excellent nursing staff and carers. Unfortunately when she recovered she had dementia. Seven years: she was looked after and she was very happy and safe. I cannot speak any higher of the care she
received.

As a family carer and great-nephew to the resident, I am pleased to be given this opportunity to commend this care home (St George's) on being a fantastic option for those who need it. The most important factor that contributes to its greatness is the the staff here. They are so friendly and kind with
everybody and makes any visitors feel most welcome. There is a sense of belonging and love here and everyone seems to fit in here. The staff's level of care is absolutely first class at St George's.

I have nothing but good to say about the staff and the home. The only thing I can complain about is the amount of things that go missing. My husband came to the home in May 2015 and has lost one good watch and three hearing aids and three pairs of glasses.
The only thing I have noticed there isn't
any one to one with the elderly.

Many thanks for your review. I am sorry to hear that your husband has lost those items whilst staying with us at St George's. If you would like to discuss this matter please contact the home manager who will be happy to assist you further. Overall I am pleased to hear that you would recommend St George's and are pleased with the care received.

Caring, friendly staff. Prompt to ring the doctor when Mum isn't well and generally good at informing me. Too much turnover at management level, but Wellburn Care Homes are good at covering the gaps.
Sometimes gaps in internal communication between different staff in the home eg. when we tried to
sort out new clothing for Mum.

Reply from Lauren Cassidy, Marketing Assistant at St George's Residential Home

Hi, Jim many thanks for your review. We appreciate all feedback. We understand that there has been a high turnover with management, however, we now have a manager in place that we are expecting to be with us long term. We will discuss the internal communication issues with the manager and hopefully be able to improve this. We wish you a very Merry Christmas. Wellburn Head Office

Current Review Score: 9.0 (8.995)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.0 (8.995) out of 10 for St George's Residential Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 6 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.4 out of 5 from 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.606 for St George's Residential Home is calculated as follows: ( (45 Excellents x 5) + (24 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 71 Ratings = 4.606

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.389 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for St George's Residential Home is based on 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 = 3.6

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 38 registered maximum number of service users is 7.6. 6 Positive Reviews ÷ 7.6 = 0.789

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
