Welcome to Washington Lodge Care Home, nestled within the charming residential area of Washington Village. The purpose-built home offers a warm and inviting environment where residents receive high standards of compassionate and dignified care.

Washington Lodge specialises in providing 24-hour nursing dementia care for individuals living with dementia or related conditions, as well as nursing and residential care for older adults with diverse health needs. Each resident receives personalised care tailored to their unique needs and preferences. The qualified nursing teams work closely with residents and their families to create individualised care plans that reflect their strengths, interests, and physical and emotional abilities.

In addition to exceptional care services, the home is also proud to offer a range of enriching activities facilitated by the wonderful activities coordinator, who engages residents in activities five days a week. Residents also have the opportunity to enjoy visits from a hairdresser who comes once a week, as well as access to a chiropractor and dentist who visit the home as needed.

Furthermore, the home hosts weekly meetings with healthcare professionals from the local GP surgery, The Galleries Medical Practice, ensuring that residents receive comprehensive and coordinated care.

The talented chefs take pride in crafting delicious home-cooked meals using fresh, nutritious ingredients. They cater to diverse dietary and cultural needs, ensuring that every resident enjoys meals that suit their tastes and preferences.

The home's comfortable and well-equipped single rooms are wheelchair-friendly and feature amenities such as nurse call systems, sinks, and TV points, with some rooms offering picturesque views over the courtyard area. The staff are very welcoming and friendly.
Amenities are adequate and generally to a good standard.
Rooms could do with an extra mop out each day.
Meal times are organised and food looks good, possibly a little repetitive.
Washing facilities are adequate also.

My experience of Washington Lodge has been a pleasant one, in fact much better than I expected. Everyone there is approachable and helpful and treat you with respect. After every visit, I leave my mother with the confidence that she is in good hands and well looked after.

My mother has been a resident since November 2023. We had the normal heartbreak for all of us to get her settled, however, the staff gave us a lot of confidence she would settle. I can only say they have been so caring towards her and she was quite challenging at first. Some of the girls treat her like
their own family and my mam loves the attention. If there is a negative and probably every home in the country is the same, it's the washing situation, not getting Mam's clothes back. I honestly don't know the answer but as far as caring we wouldn't ask for more.

The staff at Washington Lodge are very helpful and kind to both our mam and us. Nothing is ever too much trouble. The home is a nice environment and the rooms are clean.
We can visit at any time, it’s just like we were visiting Mam in her home. Mam has made a massive improvement in her health since
coming to the home.

Washington Lodge was Dad's home for the last 6 years of his life. The management and staff treat Dad with love, respect and dignity up to the very end. Sitting with him through the night in his final days. We were able to be with our dad as he passed, I believe this was because of how much attention
staff took.

I would say Washington Lodge is a very good care home, excellent in most areas. The staff do a great job looking after the residents, many of whom have great problems and are very unwell. The staff do their jobs diligently and in a friendly, communicative manner, from the carers to the doctors, the
cleaners, the people who upkeep the nursing home and the managers and administrative staff. I want to say a big thank you to all concerned.

Whilst I have no doubt that members of staff care for their residents I have a total lack of confidence in the standards of the home.
My gran has had several serious falls in her time at the home which are always 'unwitnessed'. Additionally, we are often given the excuse that it was inexperienced
or agency staff, or things haven't been handed over.
The home itself is not a pleasant environment - I would suggest the management team take a trip to the – inpatient dementia service at a local hospital to see how they do things. Washington Lodge is uninviting, photos 6-10 on this site do not replicate what you actually get. There is nothing engaging for the residents and the place feels tired.
Certain members of staff really do care about my Gran and this is clear through conversation however, I don't feel management take our concerns seriously, leading us to make several official complaints with social services.

My mam was a resident in Washington Lodge for fifteen months and in that time she was loved and cared for in a special way, I cannot thank everyone involved with my mam enough, from the manager, the secretary, the wonderful care staff, the nurses and activities lady they all had a big part in looking
after my mam in the most caring way, when my mam was very poorly I also was cared for by them by making sure I was ok, even when the care staff was on a day off they came in to see her!
I can’t recommend this care home enough, so once again I thank you all for making my mams stay here special, you made me feel safe and happy that she was getting the best attention and best care.

I visited this nursing home every week for over a year and the care from all of the staff towards my aunt and the family could not be faulted. We never had any reason to complain about anything or anyone. From my experience I would certainly recommend this nursing home.

What can I say four years ago we handed my beloved father over to the care of Washington Lodge staff, little did we know a global pandemic would follow and we would rely on the staff to keep my dad safe. They did but not only that, they cared for him, respected him and showed love for him. During his
dying days staff came in to see him. They shared their experiences of being with him and how he spent his life at the home. Today we said goodbye to Dad and their staff also said goodbye. A sense of them being family came to mind. The quality of a care home to me is about the quality of the staff. Washington Lodge has some incredible staff and this is the reason for my high rating from office to kitchen to nurses to carers and now manager.

I have found the nursing staff at the home very caring and supportive of my husband over the past 8 months. I know that I can ask them anything that concerns me and they come and explain everything (I find that very comforting, that his needs come first). Each visit I make (4 times a week) how friendly
they are and if I need to chat they also put themselves out to say hello and ask about how I am doing (sometimes things get me down because people ask about my husband but don't bother asking about me). All around a great team of carers!
