My mum went into Gracelands Care Home for respite in 2017. She said she would like to stay after 2 weeks of respite. She said she felt safe and was well looked after. She was there until she passed in September. Everyone from the managers to the staff and cleaners were lovely. It was my mum's home and
each and every one of the staff made her feel special.

Our family were delighted with the care and dignity shown to our father during his years at Gracelands. Management kept us informed immediately on any changes in Dad's behaviour or any incidents. We honestly found the staff looked after Dad as if he was a relative and not a client and this allows the
family to have massive confidence in a care home knowing he had this excellent care 24 hours a day which we could not provide. Gracelands were also a massive help to us when Dad passed and I could not praise them enough.

Gracelands Care Home has a nice atmosphere, it is very well kept, both in cleanliness and in good state of repair. My mum and the other residents, that both myself and siblings interact with, are well cared for and quite content with life. There is a good varied program of entertainment and activities
for the residents, having both witnessed and joined in many times.
The staff are both very friendly and approachable, regarding any issues we raise. I know quite a few of the staff on first name terms, and always converse with them all in a friendly manner, which in turn leads to a nice environment for my mum.

The staff are all friendly and try really hard to do their job to the best of their ability, but I feel there is a distinct shortage of staff. My mum has frequently had to wait long periods of time for someone to come and attend her.

Very kind, professional and empathic staff who always go that extra mile while looking after my mum.

My grandma recently moved into Gracelands Care Home at the end of 2023 from home after a short stay in hospital. My grandma has dementia and has always been very independent however her illness took its toll and she was no longer managing at home.
As I work in the industry I had a good knowledge of
local care homes but was understandably worried about choosing the right one and if they would meet her needs and whether she would settle.
As a family, we did not need to worry about Gracelands. The care home and everything about it is fantastic. The staff are caring, kind, considerate, responsive and friendly. They always have her best interests at heart and are clued up and knowledgeable to provide holistic and person-centred care at all times.
I would recommend Gracelands to anybody. A family-run business with the resident at the heart of its organisation.
Since arriving at the home my grandma has thrived which is amazing to see. We couldn’t ask for more.

Friendly staff, good food, warm.
My only criticism was that the TV was hit and miss in bedroom. Bad reception.

Gracelands has a warm welcoming atmosphere as soon as you walk through the door. It is clean, warm, homely and comfortable. As a family, we feel comfortable approaching staff who are also happy to respond to any queries. I am also reassured by the staff's prompt action of contacting me if ever there

When Mum needed full-time care because of Demetria, we chose Gracelands. It was the best decision we ever made for her! From the moment we arrived, my sister and I knew we had found a home for mum in her twilight years. Everyone was so friendly and caring, to us as well as mum. Gracelands is so clean
and bright, cheery and welcoming. Nothing is ever too much trouble for the staff, everyone who works there are amazing. Whenever anyone passed Mum's door, they always popped in to say hello. Mum used to call the staff 'my angels' because they were so good with her. In fact, I felt they looked after her like they were all family, not just residents and caters. That for me was one of the best things about Gracelands. Mum passed in June 2020 after 3 happy and contented years. Once again everyone there were amazing and so kind and caring. My Mother-in-law is now in need of full time care, so naturally our first choice of a care home for her was Gracelands.

Gracelands have been excellent in keeping me informed about how they are responding to Covid-19. Keeping me updated as needed. The staff are so welcoming, friendly and helpful. They are always available if I need to speak to them and are happy to inform me of mum's progress, informing and asking consent
for photographs to be used, for any medication which is available - e.g. consent for flu immunisation. Gracelands is a happy, friendly and welcoming residential care home. The staff are always friendly, very approachable. The staff have a very good knowledge of what care is needed and have built up an excellent, caring relationship with mum, aware of her likes and dislikes, responding appropriately with care and consideration. I feel mum has settled well, she seems happy, and relaxed. This makes me feel reassured that the staff are working to the appropriate standards and above. I would highly recommend Gracelands Care Home to other families.

My family found Gracelands Care Home to be just that - extremely caring both as an institution, and the individual members of staff!
The management team were great, supplemented by the senior nursing staff and the rest of the staff, even down to the housekeeping team, everyone cared!
My father had
an enjoyable and supported final couple of years. His final days, in particular, were dealt with sympathetically and with compassion!
I will count the team as friends for the rest of my life!

My Mum has recently been unwell and it was a very worrying time and the staff got her through that and encouraged me to phone as much as I wanted so I rang every day and the staff were always pleasant and helpful. Mum had a swollen hand due to arthritis. It swells up very occasionally. I received a
call to tell me about it and the home gave Mum pain relief and rang the GP for advice. The GP said she would prescribe some gel for Mum to be rubbed on her hand and it could be collected from the surgery the next day. Great service from the home and from the GP Surgery. When my brother and I had to break the news to Mum that Dad had passed away in March some of the staff knew we were going to tell her and we bumped into 2 of them on our way out. They asked us how it had gone and I thought it was really nice of them to ask.

Gracelands is like an extended family warm and welcoming from the moment you enter the building, staff are friendly and polite. This year is such a hard year for everyone and Gracelands have been amazing in keeping everyone safe and caring for residents well being and safety, and making the family feel
as involved as possible. While choosing a care home for my gran in 2018, was the most difficult decision I’ve ever had to make. From the moment I walked into Gracelands I instantly knew it was the perfect home - so clean and welcoming, all the residents look happy. Gracelands would have so many different activities going on for family to join in. With no matter how many times you call to check on your loved one, they are happy to reassure you they are ok. I honestly cannot say enough about how grateful we as a family are for the care given by each and every member of staff - they go above and beyond.

Barry & Joan Parvin

Joined: 1987

Barry and Joan initially opened Gracelands over 30 years ago. The building underwent a full refurbishment in 2017. Gracelands has long established itself as a leading provider of care within a care home environment to Redcar & Cleveland and beyond. In addition to successfully running Gracelands since opening, the owners Barry & Joan Parvin also opened their sister home, Belmont View 10 years ago, which they continue to own and manage. We are confident that we can provide care in an environment which is second to none within the local area.

Hannah Parvin

Hannah Parvin – Registered Manager & Director of Care


Hannah has worked in the Health and Social Care sector for over 10 years, starting as a carer.


Hannah joined the family organisation in 2017 as a social worker, to support and develop Gracelands Care Home.


Hannah has 5 years’ experience as a qualified adult social worker within Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council. Within this role, Safeguarding was a big responsibility, submitting alerts regularly as well as carrying out meetings as a qualified safeguarding investigator. Hannah is also a qualified Best Interest Assessor and completes Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLs) reports. These assessments are carried out for people who lack capacity in regards to care, treatment and accommodation.


As you will discover during your stay, the management team and all the staff throughout each department are committed to providing the highest standard of personalised care. Although the surroundings may appear unfamiliar, the staff will help you to feel as comfortable as possible.

David Taylor

Job Title: Registered Manager

David started with the organisation when Gracelands reopened in 2017 as a Deputy Manager. After working closely with Hannah, David completed his registration with CQC as a registered manager in August 2019.


During this time David has completed qualifications to support other managers within this role and progressing further. David has also completed Level 3 and 5 NVQ in health and social care.


David is passionate about his job and the individuals that use the service. He has a great understanding of all the residents that are currently residing at the home and is able to communicate with each one on an individual and personalised basis.


David has the ability to support individuals with all aspects of their daily living in a way that respects their dignity, is non-judgmental and promotes their independence, choices and privacy. This is a key area that is important to David, which reflects individualised care and support to each individual.


Before working at Gracelands, David worked in the Health and Social Care sector for 5 years, starting as a care assistant, and progressing to the Deputy Management Level.


Katie

Katie Manuel

Job Title: Care Manager

Joined: 2019

Katie started at Gracelands Care Home in 2019 as a care assistant. Katie showed great motivation and dedication and showed a real interest in the care and safety of the residents at Gracelands and therefore progressed to becoming a senior care assistant. After working closely with Hannah and David, Katie then progressed to becoming a care manager at Gracelands.


During this time Katie has completed qualifications to support other managers within this role and progressing further. Katie has also completed Level 3 and 5 NVQ in health and social care.


Katie has a real interest in health and social care and caring for the residents within Gracelands, Katie is always finding ways to improve services within Gracelands for the residents and always has their best interests as a priority.
