The Willows care home provides specialist nursing, residential and dementia care for older people on a respite or permanent basis. Designed for purpose, the home offers ensuite bedrooms that have been set up to ensure privacy and comfort.

The care team is experienced, dedicated and highly skilled. Most of the team has been with the home for many years so there’s always a smile and familiar face for residents and their relatives.

Situated within a quiet, residential area of Middlesbrough, next to the Woodside Memory Clinic and close to James Cook University Hospital, The Willows is easily accessible. The home enjoys a relaxed atmosphere, and outside, the attractive courtyards have plenty of sitting areas and a sensory garden.

My mother-in-law was transferred to the Willows care home till end of life. Her care was outstanding for the small amount of time she spent there. The staff were all so very compassionate and caring towards my mother-in-law and my family. What a great team of girls - well done. We will always be truly
grateful. I would strongly recommend this care home to anyone.

Absolutely amazing support and care were given to my mum during the end of her life and compassion towards my family. I will always be grateful for the wonderful care and kindness that was given, nothing was ever too much and the staff were 100% committed to making it as peaceful as possible. The Willows
nursing home has definitely changed my opinion of what nursing homes can offer. Such a dedicated team - the management should be so proud of their team. Well done and thank you so much.

Amazing care home with staff who are nothing short of a credit to the home itself. They go above and beyond in the nursing department. My nana was only in this nursing home for a short amount of time before she sadly passed away, we as a family are so happy she did go to the willows for her last days
as they were so very caring and compassionate not just with my nana but with all the family. They simply could not do enough for us and we are forever grateful my nana got to spend her last moments with us in this fantastic nursing home.

These words won't do justice for the love, compassion and dignity my father was given during his stay with the Willows Care Home for the five months he resided. Despite the terminal nature of my father's diagnosis, nothing was ever too much. The staff always went above and beyond. We were privileged
to get to know the staff really well and would recommend this beautiful care home.

Sadly, on the 14th of February, my father passed away in the nursing unit of The Willows care home. He had lived in the residential unit for a year and only moved recently when his health deteriorated. From the very first day my father was made welcome, everyone went into his room to say hello and
to introduce themselves to the family. I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to everyone involved in dad's care. The kitchen staff for going out of their way to provide interesting meals, the laundry staff and housekeepers for keeping dad's clothes smart, the handyman for all the little odd jobs needed to make life easier and finally the carers supervisors and nurses who looked after dad so very kindly and made sure my mother was still part of his life.
Thanks also to the manager who, when the time came, made dad's transition from one unit to the other seamless.
In the last few days of dad's life, my sister and I spent many hours by his bedside where we were treated with dignity, respect and kindness

Sadly my father passed away on 14th February whilst a resident on Monroe Unit. He had been a resident in the residential (Presley) unit for around two years, prior to this. He was well looked after, as were we, always made to feel welcome and involved. It was reassuring to find out that although the
staff seemed to be linked to a "usual" unit, there was some crossover, so after dads move, we still saw familiar faces of people that knew him and his likes and dislikes. I cannot praise enough the care and attention shown, not just to my dad but to all of us in his last week. I'm sorry this site doesn't allow names to be used as I would have preferred to have used names rather than titles, but Mr maintenance man, all of the domestic staff, carers from all units, nursing staff especially those on duty those last few days, thank you from the bottom of my heart for the love and respect you showed us all. You treated my dad with dignity to the end and for that, we are eternally grateful.

Staff on the dementia nursing unit (Sinatra) provided excellent care to my relative. They had a great understanding of dementia and of our relative. Staff recognised their needs and were quick to act if our relative became unwell. Staff maintained a good level of communication with us. As a family,
we were always welcomed into the home. There were always lots of staff on duty and staff worked together as a team to provide fantastic care. Staff were open and honest and were easy to talk to. They were very supportive when needed. The home was always clean and tidy. The food is freshly cooked and there is always a choice. There are regular snack trolleys with a huge variety of choice. We were extremely pleased with our overall experience of this home and would happily recommend this home to anyone looking for dementia nursing care.

Even though my Dad only had a short stay at The Willows, all of the staff were amazing towards him but the support we received as a family was wonderful. Any questions we had for the staff were always answered, even at busy times they made sure they could help. Every member of staff we met from the
manager, nurses, care workers, laundry, cleaners and maintenance were always friendly and courteous. We have had poor care in the past from another home and to see the level of care at The Willows was enough to know that we could safely leave our loved one in your care. For which we are extremely grateful. Thank you.

The Willows is a very friendly home. The staff treat the residents like their own family. The staff also support the family too, as it is difficult dealing with a family member that has dementia. I think the home layout is well thought out so everyone can enjoy the garden.
The activities are good but
I would like to have the residents partake of them more often.

We are also delighted that you think the home is friendly and that the activities are good. We have a good range of activities which are tailored to the resident's likes and dislikes. However, it is the residents’ choice as to whether they want to be involved.
Our lifestyle coordinator is working closely with our residents and family members to understand what other activities can be arranged so that as many people can partake and enjoy them. If there is a hobby or interest your relative would particularly enjoy, then please do let the manager or a senior team member know

Up until now, our experience of the home is overall good. My husband is well looked after by the staff and I am welcomed when I come to see him by all the staff and offered refreshment when needed. The staff work very hard and always smiling to which is so good for all the residents and their families.

My Husband has been a resident now for two and half years. He didn't settle immediately and because of the nature of his illness still has unsettled times. However, the staff have been very supportive and he has recently received one to one outings and a battery support for his wheelchair. The outside
walkways around the home could be more wheelchair friendly to allow us to stay close to the home but enjoy some fresh air. Overall though very good care.

My mum recently moved into The Willows and I have been very impressed by the standard of the home. Staff are friendly, caring and professional, the home is very clean and well presented. Staff are very keen to help, with making mums room as she likes it, presenting her food how she wants and asking
us for a list of things she likes to give to the chef to promote her diet.

My wife has been receiving nursing care at The Willows for the past 4 and a half months. I visit her twice per day. Throughout the period I have been constantly impressed by the high quality of care provided at all levels. The staff are amazing. Nothing is too much trouble. The home is spotless and
the food akin to that in a first class hotel. I cannot praise The Willows enough (at all levels) it is just a wonderful place.

Care in The Willows was excellent in every way my husband was in home a short time from 17th February to 5th March. When he died no one could have looked after him any better so glad he was there at the end. Would recommend The Willows to anyone for their care and kindness from all staff.

My husband became a resident at The Willows on August 9th 2015. He suffered with Alzheimer's Disease an had a chronic kidney problem. I found the staff courteous and kind at all times any deterioration in his condition was picked up on and the doctor called out to examine him. On the 25th Feb he had
to go into hospital to be hydrated, unfortunately his condition deteriorated whist in hospital and he passed away on 4th March 2016.

Job Title: Home Manager

Joined: 2017

The most important part of my role is to ensure residents are safe and living their very best lives every day at The Willows.


I love walking around the home and seeing residents smile, laugh and sing.


I feel incredibly proud of the team here, they are fantastic at looking after everybody and really have a positive impact on resident's lives. We have a good rapport with families, and they know that they can go home after a visit, knowing that their loved ones are in good hands.


As with most jobs, you need to have good time management skills and be flexible and respectful of others. It helps to be patient and have a good sense of humour too.


Before joining The Willows, I was a peripatetic manager looking after homes without a permanent manager. I have level two, three, four and five NVQs in Health and Social care and a certificate in management.


A big career highlight for me was being part of the team that won Region of the Year in 2023 and the Sales and Marketing Award in the same year.


In my free time, I love going out and about in our caravan, walking the dog and spending time with my family. When I get the chance I visit my son and two grandsons in Australia.
