Ayresome Court Nursing Home is located on the outskirts of the picturesque, historic market town of Yarm. It is just a short drive from the North York Moors National Park and has good road, bus and rail links, making it easily accessible.

The home offers nursing, residential and respite care in a purpose-built setting, with a caring environment where every resident is seen as an individual. Residents are fully involved in the planning of their care, with their dignity, privacy, choice and independence always respected and promoted.

Residents’ wellbeing is extremely important at Ayresome Court and they are encouraged to participate in physically and mentally stimulating activities, such as walking, cycling, chess, arts and crafts, and therapy sessions. There are also wheelchair-friendly gardens where residents can relax in a peaceful environment.

The home has strong relationships with the library, schools and churches in the local community, and they work closely with health centres, dental surgeries and pharmacies to ensure the care delivered is always of the highest quality.

Their hard work and dedication has been rewarded in the form of Ayresome Court being recognised as a top 20 Recommended Care Home North East England for 2015 and 2016 on carehome.co.uk. They have also won the Akari garden competition for beautiful exteriors.

The staff at Ayresome Court are amazing. My mother-in-law moved in just under a month ago and they have made her and us so welcome. Nothing is ever too much trouble. They listen to any concerns or issues and act straightaway. We can't thank them enough to help her settle in. We know she's safe and cared
for. No matter how busy the staff are they always make time for you. The only downside is that the building could do with a little tlc.

Excellent welcome from the outset. The manager and all staff are always friendly and helpful and nothing is too much trouble. The care home is lovely and clean and appears to be very well run. The food always looks lovely and it has a lovely calm, quiet atmosphere.

I have been staying here as part of my recovery from a lower leg amputation. I can honestly say that being here has played a massive part in how successfully that recovery is going. The staff are, without exception, polite, engaging and across the board lovely. They seem genuinely interested in how
my rehab and treatment is going, and have been nothing but supportive. I would have absolutely no issue with recommending this home to anyone. Thank you for looking after me so well.

I can’t express how fabulous I find both the home and the staff at a very difficult time. My sister was moved there with brain cancer for full-time nursing which has quickly moved to end-of-life care. The dignity and respect shown not only to my sister but to myself is amazing. My sister is comfortable,
content and in no pain which is such a comfort to me.
I feel no hesitation in ringing for updates after my daily visit. And when it becomes too much for me, the genuine support and care are heartwarming. While I obviously wish we didn’t need to use the services, I am hugely grateful that we could get into this home. It’s clean and tidy, the food is great and it feels like home for my sister. I will never be able to express my gratitude to the amazing staff for all they’re doing for us. Outstanding.

It is a massive decision to make for a loved one, which care home to choose. But when we were looking for my Dad, the Manager suggested we go and have a look around, as, afterall, they were going to be looking after our VIP. This comment set the scene for us as a family. Dad has been in for 5 weeks
now and has been really well looked after. The staff, well what can I say about the staff, they are angels. Nothing is too much trouble for any resident and each resident is cared for individually, all needs are catered for. My Dad would say the food lets the place down, not enough for a man who only needs respite care (ie. one sausage was deemed okay for a sausage and onion casserole - I can see where he is coming from!). But this aside - you couldn't ask for better care - just hope it is still open when it's my turn!

My mum has been a resident of Ayresome Court Nursing Home for 3 years now and I have nothing but praise for the care she has received during this period. She is extremely happy and settled in the home and always tells me how well she is looked after and how lovely the staff are to her. Covid/lockdown
was a very difficult time for us all and I think the home dealt with it very well indeed. Keep up the good work everyone and a big thank you for looking after my mum so well.

The main thing for me is the total reassurance that my dad is safe, well looked after, and happy. All the things that Ayresome Court and its staff provide. In the three-plus years my dad has resided there, I have had no issues, and find the staff to be very caring, helpful, compassionate, and extremely
friendly. To sum up, as a family, we could not ask for more.

Ayresome Court care home is excellent in every category. The care system and definition of care versus nursing is poor. Mum needs turning 3 x nightly, in hospital this is nursing; here it is social care for which we pay handsomely. It's wrong.

Ayresome Court is comfortable for residents. Nice lounge, dining area, and quiet room. However, residents' rooms need updating desperately. Overall they are clean and repairs dealt with promptly. Food is good with a choice offered, laundry service is excellent. Communication needs addressing regarding
upcoming events. Covid procedures and other general information regarding residents and relatives' rules information on the door not always read due to people waiting to fill out forms for covid etc.

I have found Ayresome Court to be excellent in caring for my mother and would not hesitate to recommend this nursing home. However, I do think despite the pandemic and the lack of television for a time, that there should be some form of entertainment (eg music, armchair keep fit) in the lounge to stimulate
the residents and give them something to look forward to.
I have not marked the rating for management as he has just started at Ayresome Court.

Sadly my grandmother experienced several failings by some of the staff (predominantly the manager who has since left and a senior nurse - unit manager). My grandmother was not treated with the respect and dignity that she deserved. Procedures were not followed within timescales which meant an alleged
serious incident could not be properly investigated by the police. Senior management were rude and were often heard cursing in the corridors. My grandma was often found without a blanket and she was left in a room without a television months on end - she was ultimately left to stare at a wall for stimulation. The home manager refused me entry to undertake a planned visit due to covid. As I was classed as an essential visitor, I have recently learned that she was wrong to deny me access to visit my grandma. Unfortunately my grandma died shortly after, that manager denied me a final opportunity to speak to my grandma one last time. I would not recommend this home at all.

During my mother's short stay at Ayresome Court, all the staff looking after her were truly amazing with her care, support, and attending to her needs with dignity and respect. I also appreciated that I was kept informed and updated when my mother was ill and needed to get professional help from nurses
or doctors. On visits to my mother, the staff were most welcoming and friendly and very informative and polite when I asked after my mother's well-being.

Couldn't have found a better nursing home for my beautiful Grandma. They went above and beyond with the care they provided for her in the short time she was with them. The staff/management are all fantastic, always welcoming and there if needed anything, and would always ask if would like a drink which
was so nice. My Grandma's room was always clean and she was always clean and made comfortable. Couldn't find a better place than this one. Highly recommended 100%.

My wife was in the care home for 5 and a half weeks. She received excellent care and nursing. The staff were considerate, caring, and friendly and worked in a professional manner. The meals were good and the rooms were satisfactory.

Following the death of my father, I brought my mother from Somerset to Ayresome Court as she could not remain at home alone. I was impressed by the friendly welcome we received, and continued to be impressed by the care and attention my mother received, an increasingly difficult task as my mother's
health declined. After she sadly passed away, I was grateful for all the help and kindness from all the staff. They were all brilliant. Many thanks.

On the whole, I was very well treated at his care home. In fact, apart from one carer I was extremely well looked after and would offer the home my full support. It so happens that this one individual who was somewhat offhand in manner had not had a dose of vaccine although offered it in/by the home
when I was speaking to her. I believe that with all carers this should be mandatory.
