The Poplars is a purpose-built care facility that offers long-term and short term Nursing, Residential and Dementia care, via a team of dedicated nursing, care and ancillary staff.

Each resident, and their family, are encouraged to be involved in the development of their own person-centered care plan, which is designed to take care of their medical needs as well as their emotional and mental well-being.

Respite care, Convalescent care and Palliative care are also provided. The home has been registered as a Silver Standard Care Home with Stockton Borough Council and is CQC rated 'Good' in all areas (May 2023). The Poplars remains Covid free and continues to serve the local community, and contributes to the area's care provision in any way it is able.

Our aunt has been a resident at the Poplars for over three years, we have always found it to be a very excellent home that accommodates the needs of the residents well. The staff are always pleasant and attentive. The activity co-ordinator organises amazing events the residents and their families can
participate in.
Recently a new company has taken over and introduced a new electronic tablet table that our aunt who has dementia seems to really enjoy using. My wife and I would definitely recommend this home to anyone who has a family member living with dementia.

We were greeted with a smile, by a very friendly member of the care staff and we could see why our cousin chose to make the Poplars his new home. The home has a new manager and new owners who really took the time to explain their vision for the home and their passion for the residents really came through.
This really differentiated the home from others we have seen.


All of the staff are so accommodating and they all treat our cousin, who can be difficult to look after with so much compassion and dignity. The activities coordinator is amazing and has been there for years. The new interactive resident's table often has scores of residents sat around it in full song! The home gives you such a warm feeling and the staff can often be heard singing, while they are checking on the residents. The food is great and the kitchen staff even encouraged us to enjoy some refreshments, expecting tea and biscuits, we were amazed they had prepared a picnic for us to all enjoy in the garden.

Recently moved our father from hospital and into Poplars, I had heard all of the horror stories of how people can be treat whilst in care services, this couldn't be farther from the truth in the case of Poplars. The home has recently been taken over by a family-owned company and a new manager is now
in place, when it was explained how they wanted the home to run and what they wanted for the future we didn't even bother visiting any other homes.


All of the staff have been extremely caring and treat our father with the greatest respect and they all show a great deal of compassion with all of the residents and nothing seems to be an issue. Whenever we visit we always see the staff continually walking up and down the hallways checking in on residents and making sure their needs are being met. They even went to the effort of making our father a picnic as he was visited by his brothers and sister, they were touched by the effort that the staff went to, to make their visit a good one.

My wife has been resident since April 2017 following a major stroke.
Overall, I find the care to be very good. The staff at all levels are friendly and caring. Nothing seems to be a problem. My wife does not always want to cooperate but she is never really pressured to do something she does not want
to do.

My Mum has been a resident at The Poplars Nursing Home since February 2013. Mum had a severe stroke which has left her unable to walk, speak and also incontinent. Mum has received the best of care, lots of love and most importantly has been treated with dignity. I thank you all for this.

I have found the staff very friendly and helpful. The atmosphere is friendly and caring. The staff are approachable if I have any concerns about my husband's health. I can talk to anyone here for advice. They take interest in us as a couple and I feel that I matter as much as my husband. I visited about
14 care homes when I was looking for somewhere for my husband and the welcome and help I got at The Poplars made me feel I need to look any further.

My wife has dementia and she is also an insulin dependent diabetic. We have used The Poplars Nursing Home for respite care several times in the last few months. I have found the care to be very professional, particularly in respect of her diabetes.


The premises are bright and sunny and there is a

nice atmosphere with a general hum of conversation, Tv/radio and talking. After several bad experiences elsewhere with the standard of care, particularly in regard to my wife's diabetes, I feel that she is safe and happy when I leave her at The Poplars Nursing Home.

'Poplars' care home has been very good to me in the seventeen years that I have resided here. As in any other profession, some carers are better than others, but even the less proficient are very good. Any complaints are dealt with promptly and efficiently. My visitors have remarked on the pleasant

My Mother had been a resident of The Poplars since September 1999. I have always been extremely pleased with the quality of care shown to Mam. Unfortunately, since December 2016 Mam had been ailing and required extra care. All the staff provided that extra care without hesitation despite the additional
workload she must have created. Mam died on June 23rd, in her sleep, peacefully and quietly. She knew she was safe and secure in her home and was surrounded by people she had grown to love. The family will always be grateful for the dedication and devotion demonstrated by everyone at The Poplars.

We found the care, dignity and support given to our Dad was outstanding. Nothing was too much for them during his short time there.
When he was admitted to hospital, where he died, they gave us time to sort out his possessions and stated that we could do it in our own time.
The home was spotless and
very welcoming.

My Aunty has been in The Poplars residential care home for about three years. In that time she was treated with love, respect, dignity and lots of care and support. I cannot speak any more highly of all the staff. They were wonderful with her and us as a family. Her room was kept clean and tidy at all
times, as was her laundry. The building on a whole was bright and cheerful, kept clean and tidy in all the areas. I would really recommend this wonderful residential home to anyone.

On my first visit to the home it felt right for my mum, warm and welcoming, the manageress and her staff treated us with warm and welcoming consideration. My mum was happy and content with the loving care she received, the staff were wonderful, kind and very caring especially towards the end. The family
were also looked after which we really needed when mum passed away. She was always clean and she loved mealtimes, the staff always made time to sit and chat. We all would recommend this nursing home and well worth a visit.
