My man was a resident here for four months this year and absolutely loved this home, all the staff, carers and nursing team make it a home from home for the relatives as well as the residents. All ways greet you with a smile and nothing is too much trouble.

Carers look after me very well on the whole. The new cook is very good and I always have enough to eat. The room is cleaned to a high standard. I'm always taken to appointments at the right time. I always enjoy going out in the minibus to various places. I'm very happy here.

Victoria House seems to be well run. It is welcoming and when I visit my Aunty I feel at home. I can make a cup of tea and have been offered food etc. The staff are caring and attentive to the needs of the residents. There is a casual attitude, which is not too good, to the loss of clothes and some
personal belongings, which is a little lapse. Otherwise, it is good.

On our short visits, it is difficult to make an informed comment.
Our mother often seems to have to wait a long time for the toilet. Staff vary - some are very caring/helpful. I once witnessed a carer using a hoist, banging another resident's leg and laughing. There is a new activity coordinator who
is extremely cheerful and lively - just what's needed. Not sure what happens at night. Is there sufficient monitoring of rooms?

A very well kept home, well maintained but certain things could improve, two showers a week is not enough for elderly care. Food very good but not a lot of variety.

Staff are generally caring and try to get to know the resident's needs/likes. The home has recently undergone some extensive refurbishment and is looking more "homely" and welcoming.

I feel that I know my mother is getting well looked after. She is treated with kindness and compassion by staff who are doing a very difficult job. I can be confident in the knowledge that I am made aware of any problems that should occur and that they get sorted straight away. Everywhere is clean and
tidy to a high standard.

I can never thank Victoria House Care Home enough for the love, care and dignity offered to my husband whilst he was there.
The staff were excellent and kind. He has settled, comfortable and as happy as he could be. The room was pleasant and I was allowed to personalise it for him.
We were able to
sit with him in comfort, so important in his last days.
Both myself and his sister were cared for with tea etc. And when he died they were so kind to me and I was able to sit with him as long as I wished. Thank you for everything.

As a nurse myself I was extremely choosy about where to place my mother when we found she needed 24-hour care. I knew immediately that the care home was the one for mam after I visited and was shown the facilities and room that mam would have. The manager went out of her way to make sure the whole
process of moving in went smoothly. The whole team are welcoming, friendly and my mam, although at first was really reluctant to accept she needed care, is the happiest I have seen her in ages. She has made new friends, put weight on and even does exercise classes.

The very caring staff have got to know and understand my mother, so well that since being at the home she is so much happier than she used to be.
Nothing is too much for the staff, Mum's Alzheimers was not understood very well at her last home and the improvement since coming to Victoria House is
down to the experience and care she is getting here.
The staff seem to like it as they have been there for some time. It's not like Mum's last home where the staff turnover was high.

I can't recommend this care home highly enough, my grandma was here for some respite after we found we were struggling at home. At first, we were all against my grandma going into a home but the way she was treated with such kindness was amazing, every single member of staff made sure that she was looked
after and nothing was too much trouble. My grandma became mobile again and we were able to take her back home, the manager even made sure the district nurses visited my grandma when she got home to change her bandage. Thank you all.

My uncle lived at Victoria House for exactly nine years until May 15th 2017. During that time the care and attention he was provided with was second to none. There was a warmth to the atmosphere whenever we visited and the staff could not have done more for him and for us.
For many years he had
his own room downstairs which was where he could spend time alone with his newspaper when he wanted to. A visit to the local pub was facilitated and he enjoyed that very much. More recently he moved upstairs and benefited from even more attention from the team. We received regular phone calls and health updates and nothing was ever too much trouble for the staff. A huge thank you to all at Victoria House.

My mother-in-Law is extremely happy in Victoria House. She is well cared for, has in-house activities which she participates in and enjoys. The staff are very attentive, caring and professional. The accommodation is modern, clean and attractively presented. She has a lovely room with an adjustable air
bed, tv, alarm and en-suite toilet. My Moither-in-Law has severe disabilities and dementia. She is cared for by dedicated staff and is always well presented and clean and enjoys the varied menus on offer.

Mum had been a resident for 9 months and sadly passed away recently. The care she received was outstanding and she had a very peaceful and dignified death with her family around her. We were all treated with kindness and compassion.

I have been absolutely been blown away by the standard of care, warmth and genuine affection shown to my mother-in-law by all members of staff whilst in Victoria House. We could not have hoped for anywhere better. Family support from all concerned was amazing.

What does kindness mean to you?

As a Health Care Professional, Vicky has gained many years of experience in providing care and support for older people to enrich their lives. She is a knowledgeable and dedicated leader who is passionate about delivering the highest possible standards of care and quality of life for Residents.


Vicky shares that HC-One’s vision is aiming to provide the kindest care for each and every Resident. She uses her experience to motivate her team to deliver care and support in a way that Residents gain the most benefit, in a warm and welcoming home.


When asked what she enjoys most about her role, Vicky remarked:


“We have a great team; our Resident's best interests are at the heart of all we do. No day is the same, it is an ever-changing role and there are rarely any dull moments.”


Outside of work, Vicky enjoys eating out, and watching sports, she loves anything that involves competition. Vicky also enjoys a good pamper session and most cuddly things with fur!”
