My father stayed here for a second time for respite care after a previous stay around 18 months ago. Since his previous stay, the home has had a lot of work done to the décor and also introduced a new menu which my father loved. During these difficult times with COVID the home and in particular, the
manager couldn't have done anymore to reassure us and make his stay more comfortable. The service we received and the communication was second to none. Thank you very much to all of the staff for everything you have done for us.

Due to an unexpected change in circumstances, my mother has had to give up her home and be cared for at Brockwell Court. My mother was often frightened living on her own, and due to work and family pressures, we could not always be there for her. My mother used to work in a residential unit and has
always said she would not be happy to move into one. The staff and management at Brockwell have been superb. They have taken the time and care to get to know my mother and her worries and concerns. Every time I call, they happy to tell me how my mam is, but always tell me something more they have learned or that she has been doing. For the first time in a long time now my mother tells me she feels safe, and I can see from her improving general health she is being very well cared for. I did initially feel nervous about my mam being cared for by someone else, however, staff have taken so much time to get to know my mother and our family. I now know she has better care than I had time to provide for her.

Our 88-year-old mother went into Brockwell Court for a 2 1/2 month period of respite care and has nothing but praise for the home itself and its staff. This was our mother’s first experience of being in care and she initially was very apprehensive, however, settled very quickly. All her needs were
catered for which allowed her to regain her strength enough so to allow her to return to her own home. The staff were always pleasant and helpful to our mother with nothing being too much trouble. This was also evident when, because of Covid restrictions, contact with our mother could only be by telephone which was always facilitated by the staff without any issues. Our mother, even for her age, has a very good appetite and her views of the food she was provided are that it was always very good, wholesome food. All in all, a very positive experience for our mother and she couldn’t recommend Brockwell Court highly enough.

I have stayed here for respite over two months; I can not fault the home. I have enjoyed my stay, and all staff from carers, cleaners, laundry and activities have been excellent. The room is great and very clean, the food has been excellent, there is nothing negative I can possibly say.

My mother was a resident at Brockwell for a number of years. She was well cared for by the staff and the food was good. I am very grateful for all the hard work and dedication from the staff and manager.

Wonderful care given to my mother. Everyone from OTs, nurses, carers, cleaners and kitchen staff were helpful and made her stay a happy one. I will always be very grateful to everyone. She went into the care home nervous and frightened, everyone helped her feel at home. Thank you.

Having been transferred here for rehab and physio, I have been very impressed with the staff and care given to me including the physio for the short stay of my visit. May I say again that all members of staff are excellent. Can't do enough for you.

My mother was assigned a respite care place at Brockwell Court following repeated visits to A&E caused by falls at home. She was well looked after by the staff and did benefit to some extent form the regular physiotherapy care at her disposal.
A generally successful and well-received opportunity for
respite care.

Current Review Score: 9.2 (9.154)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.2 (9.154) out of 10 for Brockwell Court Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 8 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.3 out of 5 from 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.821 for Brockwell Court Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (79 Excellents x 5) + (15 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 95 Ratings = 4.821

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.333 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Brockwell Court Care Home is based on 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.8

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 75 registered maximum number of service users is 15. 8 Positive Reviews ÷ 15 = 0.533

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
