My nana is always happy and settled with the staff. She has a good relationship with the staff and makes us feel happy knowing she is being well looked after.

It always feels like I'm at my nana's bungalow as there is always conversation and the staff always make time for us.

My father of 95 who has been independent till his loss of site needed to give my mother a little respite. So we with reluctance decided to give him and Mam the rest and help he needed. After only one day our minds were put to rest as we saw the care he was receiving.
He has done nothing but praise
the staff, the food and the care he has received. The staff, as we have seen, are very attentive and could not do enough for him.

The experience that I have had within the short time that my wife has been in the home, has been all good and I would have no reservations in recommending to anyone to the home.

A good standard of care is provided by the home. Staff are friendly and approachable. Facilities for care seem good and there are frequent activities within the home. Carers seem to treat my father with a caring nature and know him by name. Sometimes a shower is promised without being realised although
it is enacted within next one to two days. My father generally likes the food provided but sometimes gets a different meal to that ordered the previous day although this is not a major problem. Overall we are happy with his care.

My aunt was a resident of Pelton Grange Care Home for three years up until her death two months ago at the age of ninety-four. She was so happy at Pelton Grange Care Home and the care and attention were first-class. The staff are very friendly and caring. It is a very warm and comfortable home and a
number of activities for the residents take place. I cannot fault this home. The manager, administrative assistant and carers are all so kind and helpful.

I chose this home for my mother from of word of mouth recommendations by friends who in the past, have had relatives in here. I can't stress enough how grateful I am for all the help my mam is getting here and the amount of support myself and the family have received from all the staff. I would recommend
this care home to anyone looking for great care for their loved one.

My elderly mother has recently received respite care in Pelton Grange Care Home. Everyone involved in her care has been supportive, kind, friendly and professional. The Carers are always smiling and nothing is too much for them.
Thank you Pelton Grange. We would have no hesitation in recommending your

A pleasant care home, though some staff need to pay more care and attention to some of the simple things to assist in the care and well being of the residents. Overall a family type atmosphere but just lacking a little bit of thought from some, which might make some residents a little more comfortable.

My Mam has had good care for the past 4 years. She really enjoys the company of the staff. I had no concerns when I went on holiday because I knew she would be looked after. I know she is eating well as she has put on weight.

From the moment I first made contact with the home the manager and deputy manager filled me with hope that my mother would be looked after in the same way as I had cared for her at home for the previous five years.
Mam seemed to settle well at Pelton Grange and was soon in a good routine which meant
she quickly adapted to her new 'home'.
Her medical needs (if any) were looked after immediately as well as her social requirements. My husband and I felt comfortable that she was in 'safe' hands.
She has now been in Pelton Grange for almost 10 months and as a 97-year old, I can now envisage my mum getting a telegram from the Queen once she reaches 100. The staff are amazing - they always encourage Mam to take part in events they frequently hold and Mam seems happy. She loves singing the old songs and the Deputy Manager is the first one to start a good old sing song! I take great comfort in knowing she is here which is something I didn't think I could say.

Current Review Score: 8.8 (8.753)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.8 (8.753) out of 10 for Pelton Grange Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.3 out of 5 from 10 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.4 out of 5 from 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.308 for Pelton Grange Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (69 Excellents x 5) + (24 Goods x 4) + (16 Satisfactorys x 3) + (7 Poors x 2) + (1 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 117 Ratings = 4.308

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.445 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Pelton Grange Care Home is based on 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.7

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 47 registered maximum number of service users is 9.4. 7 Positive Reviews ÷ 9.4 = 0.745

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
