My Granma was a resident for many years, it wasn’t just a place for her to receive the care she needed, it was her home! The staff and other residents treat her like family, and in turn, all of us too! On our first few visits to see Granma, she’d tell us she wasn’t going to leave with us, she was home!
It was the hardest decision putting her into care, but the easiest once we saw how happy and settled she was! It’s a lovely, homely place to be, welcoming and always friendly! This has not been an easy year for anyone, but receiving reassurance from the staff that Granma was doing great and receiving photos of her, has made it a little easier! My Granma received the best care, with respect and dignity by all of the staff! I am so grateful for everything that they did for her and cannot thank them enough!

Our mam was a resident at Springfield Lodge for 7 years. The quality of care she received during her stay there was second to none. The staff were always on hand to support and advise and family members were always made welcome. During this time, the staff became like an extended family and their support
to Dad was exceptional. Since mam passed, Dad still rings the home regularly and the staff always take a little time to chat with him. This has been a lifeline for him during this time of self-isolation due to the Covid-19 outbreak. As her dementia progressed she was continually assessed and new care plans put in place, nothing was too much trouble. The weekend Mam passed the staff could not have been more helpful and supportive and we will always be eternally grateful to the manager and her team for the care, love, and support they gave to Mam. Springfield became her home in the last few years of her life and I couldn’t think of a better place for her to be.

I wish to praise the outstanding care my mother was given by the wonderful staff at this care home. She and we as visitors were made to feel welcome at all times. Her room was pleasant and comfortable. She told us the food was good and it was obvious how clean and tidy the home was, the cleaning staff
never stopped cleaning. As my Mum's death approached, the staff were so sensitive and caring and allowed us as much time with her as we wanted. When Mum did die, they were simply outstanding, the care and dignity they gave her and me. Mum had opted for direct cremation, I will never forget how a number of the staff stood outside to honour my Mum, as her body was taken away. This touched me deeply, a wonderful thing to do. I hope and pray that all the staff and all the current residents are safe from this dreadful virus. I have clapped for the NHS but have been clapping just as hard for care home staff. You all deserve OBE's and huge pay rises. My love to you all. Keep Well.

Current Review Score: 8.8 (8.836)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.8 (8.836) out of 10 for Springfield Lodge Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.5 out of 5 from 6 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.4 out of 5 from 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.486 for Springfield Lodge Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (37 Excellents x 5) + (33 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 72 Ratings = 4.486

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.35 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Springfield Lodge Care Home is based on 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 = 3.6

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 40 registered maximum number of service users is 8. 6 Positive Reviews ÷ 8 = 0.75

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
