Located in Blackhall Colliery, a former mining village on the North Sea coast of County Durham close to Peterlee and Horden, Yohden Care Complex is located on Hesleden Road between Castle Eden and Hartlepool.

Yohden Care Complex is a versatile care facility divided into three units offering specialist care. Nursing care is offered at Yohden Hall; Yohden Lodge provides dementia nursing and residential care and Yohden Court accommodates residents with learning difficulties. Respite stays and day care are also available.

The entrance for Yohden Lodge is located at the back of the building in a purpose-built extension. The Lodge has 27ensuite bedrooms including a palliative suite, sensory room, dining room, lounge and conservatory. The decor in the Lodge is dementia friendly with lots of stimulating walls and imagery.

Yohden Court is located in the main building and is a 10 bedded unit with ensuite facilities, an activities room, lounge and dining room.

Yohden Hall is also located in the main building with 36 bedrooms, reception area, extensive lounge for relaxation and activities, hair dressers, dining room and patio.

The care complex boasts a variety of features and facilities, including a hairdressing salon and an on-site bar. Residents can take advantage of extensive outdoor areas including secure gardens, a vegetable patch, and a large conservatory and patio area.

They believe food is an important aspect of the care at Yohden Care Complex and have a 5 star food hygiene rating. All cakes and baked goods are made in their onsite kitchens along with cooked breakfast, choice of lunch and dinner aswell as a hospitality trolley throughout the day.

There is ample car parking at the home for visitors and the closest bus stop from the home is located at the Hardwick Hotel on Middle Street which is a 0.5 mile stroll to the home which is visited by the 23, 24 Sapphire, 55 and 206 IndiGo bus.

The manager and her team at this care home are second to none, they displayed excellent care practice, support and empathy for all of their quests. They demonstrated dignity and understanding to vulnerable adults. Family and friends are encouraged to visit at any time and ensuring family are kept up
to date of any changes that occur this professional team is led by a manager that is caring and helpful, ensuring her team are working to a very high standard. I would recommend this care home it's an excellent care home that needs recognition for their excellent professionalism.

Staff, personally have found all staff very courteous. Very well trained. Will listen to you if you have any queries and if they do not know the answer will find out for you. Any action required is taken care of immediately or as soon as possible as stated in my previous questionnaire. Promotion within
the staff is not only an incentive for carers but also the working of the care home an added bonus. Food - excellent menus each day with a good selection of food, thanks to the chef and her assistant. Must not forget the laundry staff and cleaners. They do a fantastic service keeping the home clean and also the client's clothes freshly laundered.

Yohden Hall is a bright well cared for care home that provides excellent care by interested and empathetic staff. Dignity for residents is at the heart of their care provision which is overseen by a very "hands-on" manager.

Could not of found a nicer place for our mother-in-law to spend her final weeks. The carers and nurses went out of their way and cared for mam and ourselves! Nothing was too much trouble, so grateful!

I have been visiting this home for at least eight years. Four years before my wife passed away and four years since a very dear friend who I met in the home, also passed on.
Everyone from a wonderful manager, to staff who are very caring towards all the residents. I am 74 on my next birthday. If I
have to be taken care of, I would hope my children will put in Yohden Hall Care Home.

My father was in Yohden Hall due to dementia and parkinson's, he had previously been in a care home that we were appalled with the level of care and personal treatment my father received. Yohden Hall was like a breath of fresh air. My father was there for just about a year before he sadly passed away.
I cannot fault the care he was given in the last moments of his life he was treated with respect and dignity he deserved.

After visiting my niece in a different care home last year I thought that she could be looked after elsewhere. I had heard by word of mouth that Yohden Hall had a good reputation and as it was easy for me to get to, I checked it out and was very pleased with my first impressions as the home was light
and airy with a homely and happy ambience and was pleased when my niece was moved into Yohden Hall in September 2015 and I am now sure it was for the best. My opinion of the home has not changed from my first impression.

Since my wife moved into Yohden Hall Care Home I have all good things to say about it. The staff are all friendly and patient with people. It also appears they have excellent care and co-operation with the local doctors. The nursing staff at the home are also very helpful and very caring. In all it
is a very well run home and I wish all the staff all the very best for the future.
