The care at Rydal Care Home is amazing by the employees who care for the residents.
I have both my mum and dad at Rydal and their care is excellent. It’s reassuring to see them dressed in fresh clothes every day, clean and their personal care is good.
I see the employees show dignity and respect
for the residents which is an absolute necessity. I believe the employees really care for the residents and in many cases treat them as family members.
I would recommend Rydal to others.

Outstanding care home, the care is second to none. I was really apprehensive about my grandad going into a home but all staff put me at ease and nothing was too much for them. I’m pleased he got to spend the final part of his life surrounded by love.

Dad is well looked after by kind and caring staff. His room is clean and pleasant, he is always clean and nicely dressed. The care home is a friendly happy place.
Communication and information to and from the home are maintained throughout the year. The staff always make a fuss about Dad and create
a good living environment for him.

Staff are very friendly and helpful although, no doubt through government cutbacks to funding, there sometimes doesn’t seem to be enough considering the needs of some residents. Mum needs considerable care and her needs are increasing meaning two staff are needed for movement and this can mean considerable
pressure on those trying to care for many.
The environment is welcoming and the facilities good although at times I feel Mum would benefit from more stimulation.
Communication, for example, a monthly newsletter, would be helpful.

My aunt has lived in the home for over four years and is very happy here. She is generally clean and well-presented when I visit. The staff are very welcoming and friendly, and my aunt has her favourites! Her bedroom is spotless whenever I pop in, with fresh, clean bedding. I am informed if there are
any changes in her health and when her toiletries or spending money needs topping up. Activities are provided for the residents, and I'm sure my aunt takes part. I do, however, feel that the huge increases in her fees are excessive, even taking into account the cost of living rises. Overall, I am happy with her care as she is happy.

I have nothing but praise for the whole team at Rydal. The leadership and organisational skills of the manager are unbeatable. My husband is happy and well cared for and I always feel the whole team are looking out for me as well. They go above and beyond in all they do.

I am more than satisfied with care at Rydal, it may not be the most modern care home but it has everything the residents need, it has a warm atmosphere, the lounge is pleasant, dining room, and also bedrooms. The most important thing for me is the level of care and compassion the staff give to my partner.
The staff are first class, they treat the residents with utmost care and respect their dignity. All my partner's needs are met. I also would like to say the nurses are first class. I would also like to point out that the management has an extremely challenging job, which they carry out professionally and again are very caring and supportive. They have a fabulous activities coordinator who goes above and beyond. Whenever I visit the home my partner is in clean clothes, shaven, fresh and clean. It reassures me and if he could express himself I know he would tell me he feels happy and safe. Thank you to all the staff. Forgot to mention the food is also very good.

A staff member today suggested Mum and I took Dad out today in a wheelchair. We were so nervous as he’s never been in our care since the day he went into a care home. Neither of us had ever pushed a wheelchair outside and we really didn’t know how Dad would react being away from the environment in which
he feels safe.
We were encouraged and set on our way with a smile and a wave.
The sense of it being just the three of us out together in the fresh air enjoying the sun was was wonderful. There was an ice cream van and I was able to buy Dad a ‘99’ again, something I’d thought I would never be able to do.


It probably seems a small thing but it has created a precious memory for us, and it may have been a fleeting memory for Dad due to his Alzheimers but equally as special. So the staff at this home don’t just care for your loved one. They care for the whole family. They recognise the little things that are important to you which make them exceptional.

My husband was in the home from September 2016 until he died 5th April 2018. He could walk when he went in and something happened in Sept 2017 when I found him in agony in bed and he never walked again. I don't know what happened? He was hoisted everywhere. Left wet for hours in a wheelchair. The food
was rubbish. At the end, he refused to eat and drink. I used to take in yoghurts, coffee, orange juice and bottled water. I provided all of his bedding. Towels, toiletries, new clothes when his disappeared. They were always short staffed. His medication was given spasmodically.

The staff are kind and patient. My aunt is often taken out by staff either on a visit somewhere or just to the local supermarket. There has been a problem with laundry but after speaking to the manager I am confident they are solving the problem. They are also about to decorate her room with her choice
of colour. When living some distance from the care home it is very important that I feel I can rely on the staff to look after my aunt and they are all doing a great job.
