My wife has now been in this home for the past 21 months. I must say, taking into consideration her condition, she has been cared for in very many aspects as she needs 24-hour care. The nurses carry out their duties thoroughly and the care staff do likewise. All the staff are very friendly and we get
on fine with each other. On festive occasions, the staff pull all the stops out to make them enjoyable for the residents and their respective visitors. My wife is unable to partake of any of the various activities which are arranged for those who can.

We transferred my mother to Wilton House from another care home, 4 months ago, because we were unhappy with the level of hygiene, lack of staff and size of the room. My mother now has a much larger room with a good view. There are plenty of staff and the home does not smell of urine. The staff are caring
and helpful.

From our first visit to Wilton House, we found the staff to be very welcoming, caring and approachable. They always find time to talk to the guests and nothing is too much trouble. It is very homely but at the same time is very well managed and maintained. All the meals are home cooked and plentiful.
We are very happy with our choice of home.

My cousin was transferred to Wilton House from the Leeds area. She has settled in well and is well cared for by all the staff. I find everyone helpful and keep me informed of my cousin's progress, any questions have always been dealt with in a pleasant manner.

I had 5 nights care at Wilton House, Darlington from 25th February to 1st March 2016. On my arrival the manager showed me around then she showed me my room with which I was very impressed. It was clean and tidy, I met some of the carers, the atmosphere was very relaxed and the carers were very good
and treated me with dignity. I was treated like a resident and made very welcome, the food was acceptable but there was room for improvement and that is the only fault I can find. I am hoping to have more respite care in September if they have room.

I have always found the quality of care at Wilton House of a very high standard. This is reflected by the very low turnover of staff which means continuity of care for the residents. Any problems have always been addressed peomptly. The management and staff are approachable and treat the residents
in a very caring manner. They are very skilful at dealing with challenging behaviour treating the resident with respect and dignity at all times.

Our elderly relative has been in Wilton House since August 2014. She settled quickly and says she feels well-looked after and enjoys the food, which is ample and varied. The staff are always attentive, cheerful and courteous. The interior of the home is kept clean and orderly, although parts would benefit
from redecoration. Nursing care is provided and the nurses are very helpful.

My mother-in-law has resided within this care home for approximately 6 months now and I can honestly say that the care and support she receives is second to none!
Staff are friendly and helpful and are always willing to keep us up to date with regards to my mother-in-laws health and well-being.
I
cannot recommend this care home highly enough.

My mother has been with Wilton Lodge for more than a year, and my father was also resident at the home In that time, the standard of care evident at the facility has remained excellent. Staff are kind and attentive, there is a range of activity provided, and food always appears to be of a high standard.
Where medical and nursing care has been necessary, that was integrated into the overall service in a very professional way, and the staff dealt with challenging situations with great calm and dignity.
I've been most impressed with the whole approach taken and would happily recommend it to others.

Current Review Score: 8.8 (8.812)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.8 (8.812) out of 10 for Wilton House Care Home with Nursing is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 4 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.9 out of 5 from 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.896 for Wilton House Care Home with Nursing is calculated as follows: ( (44 Excellents x 5) + (3 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 48 Ratings = 4.896

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 3.916 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Wilton House Care Home with Nursing is based on 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.375

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 37 registered maximum number of service users is 7.4. 4 Positive Reviews ÷ 7.4 = 0.541

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
