Staff friendly and listen to what is said by relatives. Most obliging when phoning and requesting connection with resident.
Visiting arrangement regarding Covid well organised.

I was so worried about putting mum into a care home. I couldn't believe how quickly she settled in. She's now eating well and looks so much better after only 3 weeks. This is all down to the wonderful staff. I'm so impressed at how we just have to ask for something and it happens immediately. An example
of how all care homes should be run.

My dear father resided until he passed at Dolphin View Care Home Amble.
I highly recommend this very caring nursing home not just to other loved ones and friends but to everyone whom has a loved one in need of tender care.
The staff were unbelievably caring kind and considerably to my father and all
of us family. I always got asked if I would like anything down to a drink and often a snack. My father had his last 2 months at this establishment from him coming to Northumberland due to very ill health and I'm so pleased that the last few months he had with us was in the hands of angels from Dolphin View. Hand on heart I owe all the staff a massive thank you from the bottom of my heart and may god be with them all. x

My father stayed for respite in Dolphin View due to his COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease). He was always treated in a dignified manner. Staff were friendly and helpful. The manager was very approachable for chats. Rooms were small without en suite but were very adequate and kept clean. My
father had no problems with the food the month he stayed.

As daughters, we are very happy with the care our father receives at The Dolphin Residential Care Home at Amble. The carers are extremely kind to our father and talk to him, which he enjoys, as when living by himself he did lack company.

I do not "enjoy" being here. One is left to get on with it. That's fine if a person can. I cannot always do that.

Not enough activities. That may be the fault of the clients who do not attend and take part. I came here on the rebound from having chemotherapy and did not feel good.

My immediate

and first day here was quite pleasant. An apology for that came from lead person and had to accept that apology, and did, but was not happy.

Very disappointing. Fall risks identified at hospital not put in place. Sink in mum's room didn't drain in all the time she has been there.
Had to wipe no2's from the toilet seat when assisting mum on the toilet as carers walked by. Mum's tablets left on her table. I told carer that mum had a toothache
and was told: "I'll get the nurse to give her painkillers". My mum is at risk of falls and was struggling to walk and told to hold the rail. They haven't refunded what's left of my mum's hairdressing money after 3 weeks. Glad she is out of there.

Current Review Score: 9.1 (9.116)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.1 (9.116) out of 10 for Dolphin View Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.3 out of 5 from 9 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.316 for Dolphin View Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (52 Excellents x 5) + (35 Goods x 4) + (5 Satisfactorys x 3) + (2 Poors x 2) + (4 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 98 Ratings = 4.316

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.8 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Dolphin View Care Home is based on 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.8

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 35 registered maximum number of service users is 7, which has been reached with 8 Positive reviews. Points = 1

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
