My husband has been at Lowgate for almost five years, including the very challenging times of the Covid pandemic. Throughout, the care my husband has received has been good - and the nursing care excellent. His needs have been well met, and the senior staff are always responsive to any concerns. I too
have felt supported and welcome in the home.

Although Mum wasn't long in the nursing home, the staffing team made the stay as comfortable and as stress-free as possible for us all.
It was lovely to be able to decorate her room with her personal photos, pictures etc, making it her home from home.
She received diligent care, prompt action when
required, flexible visiting times and regular updates about any changes, particularly towards the end. Mum loved that the dogs could visit, which made her smile.

My wife has been a resident for over a year, and I am extremely satisfied with the care she has received. There have been the odd health incidents (eg, falls etc), and she has been expertly cared for. I would make one suggestion - it would help visitors to have a better rapport with the carers if the
carers would all ware a name badge you could read at a glance.

My mother has been at Lowgate Nursing Home for some time now and she feels very much at home. All the staff are brilliant with her although at times she can be very difficult. I think it would be difficult to find a better standard of care, everywhere is bright and clean, meals varied, lots of activities
and a general happy feel, even as a visitor you are made very welcome. The care over the last couple of years has been excellent despite the problems with covid and we have nothing but praise for the staff.

My mum entered Lowgate in May 2021 during the pandemic. Despite measures taken she caught covid in September 2021. After two weeks in hospital returned to Lowgate unable to walk, lost lots of weight and was very weak. Lowgate staff and the Manager were brilliant without them I do not think she would
have regained her health. Lots of food, treat and activities. She has Alzheimer's which can be challenging but their care is outstanding. Excellent at keeping family informed of situations. Very careful precautions again covid.

My stepfather was admitted to the home for palliative care. He only lived three and a half days before he passed away. The care and compassion of the staff was excellent as a family we were kept informed on a regular basis of the progress and the care needs. I have worked in the care industry for over
twenty-five years so I know what good care means and the staff at this home provided good quality care. Food and drink and activities I cannot comment on as my stepfather was not there long enough and was receiving palliative care.

We looked at several residential care homes before placing our relative in Lowgate. She received a warm welcome on admission and she settled in straight away which was such a relief.
Since then we have been very impressed with her care. We have been kept well-informed about her condition and any clothing
she needed. She always enjoys the activities and takes part in them. She always appears happy on our visits. The staff are always accommodating on our visits. During covid, every effort has been made to keep the residents safe. A well run home.

On my initial meeting with the manager, all of the correct questions were asked showing that the resident and their wellbeing was going to be at the very heart of everything. I left feeling that if I was in my mother's position, this is the care home I would want to be at.


My mother was on a pureed

food diet. All her food was homemade, sloshy, really tasty and easy for her to swallow.


I was allowed to visit my mother at any time as she was nearing the end. I visited my mother in the afternoon and returned in the evening on her last full day alive. The night nurse introduced herself and reassured me she would be looking after my mother during the night. She phoned me at 5 am to tell me my mother's oxygen levels were low. I was with my mother by 5.10 am. For the last 40 minutes of my mother's life, I told her I loved her, listened to the Sound of Music soundtrack and I held my mother's hands. My mother slipped away very peacefully. The other night carers were very attentive too.

My mother, who was 85 years old, was admitted to Lowgate Nursing Home at the end of May 2021. Although she was only there a very short time, I was extremely happy with all aspects of her care and can’t praise the care team enough. She was made to feel very welcome and settled in straight away, during
a difficult period of her life. I felt that staff went out of their way to get to know her and understand her changing needs. I was kept fully informed of any changes to her care needs. She was looked after with respect, dignity and consideration. It was a great comfort to me to know that she was happy, settled and well looked after during her final weeks. I would like to thank the manager and her team for the excellent care, respect and consideration they gave to my mother.

My dad was admitted a couple of years to Lowgate, as he was unable to look after himself anymore. The staff are extremely helpful, caring, understanding and care about my dad. He can be stubborn but their patience is second to none. During this awful time, they have kept him safe and healthy!
When
visiting they are kind and caring, they seem like a great team and would not want my dad anywhere else.
This is a lovely, friendly, clean and efficient service, Thank you to the manager and all the staff.

I can't praise the team at Lowgate highly enough. The manager and her team are just doing the very best for my mum. Mum has dementia, and the team are so sensitive and caring. It never ceases to amaze me how kind and caring they are, and the number of activities they put on every week. Mum is very happy
there, I'm so pleased we chose Lowgate for her.

Dad, who is ninety eight years old, was admitted into care in October 2020 during the Covid-19 restrictions. We had tried to keep Dad in his own home for the last year with daily carers but after a few falls and a visit to hospital, it became clear that he needed twenty-four hour care. We were apprehensive
as to how well Dad would settle in but we needn’t have worried. We chose Lowgate Nursing Home because we had heard from others who were pleased with the care their families had received. We have been impressed with the care and thoughtfulness of the staff. The manager spent a lot of time on the telephone getting to know all about Dad before he went in and he settled well. Not being able to make a personal visit we feel she handled this very well. The staff have kept us informed of any problems and arranged video calls with Dad whenever we want them.

My auntie has been at Lowgate for the last 3 years and since she first arrived the staff have been excellent and she is well looked after and cared for. There are always regular activities for the residents and lots of photo's keeping you updated when unable to visit due to Covid. I would highly recommend
Lowgate and the team that work there.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the manager and her team for the care, respect and consideration they have given to my brother. I was very worried for my brother when the decision was made to put him into full-time care. Before my retirement, I visited many nursing homes while working
as a district nurse and I know from experience that the level of care can vary considerably. I have been so impressed with Lowgate. My brother's condition can make his behaviour extremely challenging at times but I feel the staff have made an effort to get to know him and understand his ways. I have been kept fully informed of any changes or developments and I would have no hesitation in recommending Lowgate.

Lowgate took my mother in during the lockdown of May 2020 and cared for her until March 2021. They could not have been kinder to her or more accommodating in the most difficult of circumstances. It was a great comfort knowing she was with them when I had such limited access to her. I could not recommend
them highly enough.

This home is well run. The staff are very hardworking, very friendly and extremely caring. The management team are very efficient, understanding and helpful and not afraid of rolling their sleeves up and getting stuck in. The whole centre is geared up to the service users and their well-being. The manageress
takes note of any queries and acts on them immediately, which for my part is much appreciated.

My mother was a resident at Lowgate for over 4 years, she was a fiercely independant and at times difficult person to care for. However, at Lowgate, her care was simply the best, from the manager, nurses, carers to the kitchen staff and cleaners she was treated with dignity, patience and compassion
and dare I say it, a welcome touch of humour. She became an accepted part of the Lowgate "Family".
The management of the home both before and during the period of the pandemic has been exemplary, both thoughtful and effective and at all times the nursing and personal care at Lowgate has been excellent.
Sadly, due to the constraints of the pandemic and the sudden deterioration of my mother's health (not Covid related), I was unable to be with her when she passed away but I will be forever grateful to the Staff at Lowgate who cared for her so well in her twilight years and were with her at the end - I could not of asked for more.

After 6 months of lockdown, I was able to visit my mam today. She looked well cared for and happy (after we had stopped crying), just as she has been in photographs on the Lowgate Facebook page these last months - this has helped me and my family cope with not being able to visit. All the activities
have looked great, staff and residents were extra busy with the musical afternoons. I cannot thank the staff at Lowgate enough for all the care, attention and love they give to my mam and I would recommend to anyone looking for a special care home for a family member.
