My mum has been in this care home for 4 years but sadly I lost her on 18th February. The care she has received has been excellent in her last few weeks. The management, nurses and carers could not do enough to help my mum and me.

While my dad was a resident, he was well cared for and entertained. We were allowed window visits for which we were thankful for, and has a room visit when it was clear that he was failing. We were very grateful for this, but wish he could have had longer, with proper visits. Sadly it was not to be.

My mother moved to Lowgate in quarter three, 2020, having previously been in a residential home because her needs had increased. The previous home was very good but the care and attention Mum gets at Lowgate from the team there is on another level. I thoroughly recommend Lowgate to anyone looking for
a home for a friend or relative.

My father went from respite to permanent care at Lowgate in the middle of last year so we have only known Covid 19 restrictions. The care shown to us as family and Dad has been extraordinary given the staff are working under such demanding circumstances.
I live overseas and every effort is made to
accommodate my contact with Dad allowing for the time difference. The Facebook updates are a wonderful way for us to see what they are doing and he gets fully involved in whatever is on offer. He is clearly very happy there and well cared for.
The whole staff team deserve medals for their dedication to providing the best possible life to our precious family members.

Very helpful staff, followed all the Covid 19 rules (apron, mask, gloves etc). My mam and dad are happy enough in their new home, they like the staff and say there is plenty of food to eat. Mam enjoys activities and TV. Dad is happy in his room watching the wild birds feed outside his window on the
bird feeder. They're also getting regular showers/baths in the care home, they found this too difficult at home, therefore it wasn't good for their quality of life. Covid 19 has made things hard for everybody but staff have done a great job!

Outstanding - This care home really puts the care and love into a care home. My dad has been treated with love and dignity. Staff are honest, helpful and caring - nothing is too much trouble. Their support for my whole family is wonderful - I have peace of mind knowing he is truly loved and receives
the best level of care you could hope for.
Would not consider an alternative care home.

I am now experiencing for the first time, a new way of life visiting my husband in Lowgate Nursing Home. My daily visit has become the highlight of my day. To be met at the home by such a caring, friendly manageress for my check-in details, apron, gloves, temperature check and a quiet word of encouragement
with details about the late evening checkup. The staff welcome me as they go on their way attending to all the patients with such dedication. Nothing is too much trouble to them. I cannot speak too highly of them. They possess a calmness and compassion, second to none.

My father has received care at this home for over 4 years, I have always found it clean and the nursing staff helpful and efficient.
They make a big effort to entertain the residents with singing and music, local musicians are brought in.
They also hold quizzes here which I have taken part in. The
food here is also of a good standard, if anything happens with my father they have always informed me quickly.
There is always plenty of staff on hand, and they operate professionally. I would recommend this care home.

I feel Lowgate needs a complete overhaul and that every resident should have their own en-suite. The management are trying extremely hard but the whole building is inadequate - not enough plug sockets extension cables galore!! There is no excuse for the lack of cleanliness and rodent traps in the toilets!
Enormous trolleys blocking hallways with shabby towels etc piled up - the outside is better kept than the inside! All the airflow mattresses should be replaced, we had to provide our own which was fine but what about other residents who are left using the very old mattresses? Food needs to be better delivered in my mother's words - 'it's deplorable'. Lowgate could be so much better.

I am really sad to read your review. Lowgate Nursing Home was built many years ago and you are quite right, that it would be wonderful if every room was en-suite, with more power points and storage. The team at Lowgate pride themselves on their care and I am relieved to see that care and dignity has been scored well.
Our mattresses are routinely checked and serviced, my understanding was that your Mum didn't find our mattress comfortable and so it was agreed that she could bring her own in. Your Mum was complimentary about the food she ate whilst she was here, I will look into the delivery of food to see if we can improve in any way. The boxes that are in the toilets are ant traps - we do not have rodents. I really hope that your Mum has settled well into her new home and we wish you all the best in the future.

Lowgate Nursing Home provided loving and supportive care for my father-in-law. Every time we visited him they made me and the whole family feel very welcome, always offering refreshments. They knew him really well even putting additional flowers and bird boxes near his room as they knew this was a passion
of his. At the end of his life, they were there for him. They treated him like one of their own family. Lowgate Nursing Home is an outstanding Care Home.

The manager, nurses and carers have been most supportive during this time of lockdown when I was unable to visit my friend resident at Lowgate. They've been happy to pass on important messages and keep me up to date on how things are going.
They've also set up a Facebook group that allows me to see
how my friend is doing, and clearly they are really doing their best to provide interesting things to do during this time: such as looking after baby ducks! It was lovely to see my friend holding a baby duck on the Facebook page, and I know it helped the family too.
Generally, they have always been easy to contact and open to having a chat about how things are going.

My mother has been resident at Lowgate Nursing Home for over 8 years up to her death at the end of May 2020. Her care was excellent. Nursing, caring, entertainment and all aspects of daily care was of a very high standard. Communication and friendship shown to me was also excellent. I will always be
grateful that she was able to be at Lowgate. Every aspect was excellent and I would highly recommend Lowgate Nursing Home to anyone who needs nursing and care.

My mother was resident in Lowgate for over 8 years and I couldn't have wished for anywhere better for her to spend her last years in a care home. All the staff went above and beyond in her care during her long illness, especially in the last 3 days of her life during the Coronavirus pandemic. Nothing
was too much trouble and they are really a very happy family there.

Extremely pleasant, caring and professional staff. I feel so fortunate that my father is in Lowgate. They spend a lot of time helping new people to settle in and have kept me up to date with any problems or issues relating to my father's health and wellbeing. There is plenty of entertainment and activities
for residents, and people are gently encouraged to join in. The rooms are clean, and the food is good.

I could not have wished for a better place for my aunty. Everyone was very pleasant, accommodating and nothing was too much trouble. If my aunty needed to go back into a care home Lowgate would be the first place I would feel happy and comfortable putting her. Thank you, everyone.

Mum moved into Lowgate in May 2018. From the beginning, she was loved. nurtured and cared for to the highest of standards and she settled very quickly. She was always treated with respect and dignity by all staff and she thrived on this. The staff work hard but there is always a happy, positive atmosphere
and I was always made to feel very welcome and enjoyed my visits there. In Mum's final days the support given to us all was amazing. I really can't thank everyone enough.

My Mum spent a few weeks at Lowgate between leaving the hospital and transferring to a residential home close to me in the Midlands. During that time I was extremely impressed with the quality of care given. The manager, deputy manager and all staff went out of their way to be helpful and make sure
my Mum's needs were catered for. They even provided a packed lunch and other extras for our long journey to her new home!

My aunt has been a resident for 9 months, throughout which time I have been impressed with her care and how engaged the staff are with all of the residents. She has developing medical needs which the team monitor and manage effectively. While my aunt's memory is fading, she is usually relaxed and bright
when I visit. The team have a great schedule of activities, especially over Christmas. A big thank you to everyone who works hard to make Lowgate such a good place to live.
