The home is light and airy with a variety of communal areas including a conservatory which opens onto a secure patio area for residents to enjoy the country air. All the bedrooms are individually decorated with many enjoying views over the Welsh countryside.

The highly qualified general and specialist nurses and carers at Blaenos House treat everyone as an individual, tailoring their care and support to meet the residents' needs in a warm and homely environment. Many of the staff also speak Welsh as their first language.

Before admission, a professional team member will assess to understand the support and care your loved one requires within the home. Really well catered for, family get-togethers, and tasty home-cooked food served with cheerful smiles. Father-in-law clearly enjoys living here and is very well cared for.

My husband received the best care. He was always clean and clean shave, which was important to him. I was kept well informed about his condition and allowed to stay for hours with him, just holding his hand. Thank you all so much for what you did for him.

Blaenos had organised a lovely team for her 90th birthday. There was a fantastic selection of sandwiches and cakes, a beautiful birthday cake and cups of tea. We had use of the sun lounge for a real family gathering. Everything was clean and comfortable. The staff were very welcoming and treated her
with respect and dignity. They had all her birthday cards out and had arranged some ballon and bunting. Thank you.

My mother has been a resident at Blaenos since May 2020. She is genuinely well cared for by the staff and treated with dignity. We have been well informed during the pandemic receiving regular updates on mam's wellbeing. We have been warmly welcomed to Blaenos since visiting has been allowed always
feeling safe and secure. The environment at the home is not static or still but busy and lively as the staff regularly arrange great activities keeping residents engaged and stimulated. The fact that there is a Welsh ethos at the home and that many staff members are Welsh-speaking has made a great difference. This is especially true for those dementia patients whose first language is Welsh. It has been a great comfort for us as a family knowing that mam is happy. Diolch o Galon.

My mother said "Have I come to the right place? this room is it really for me?" this was a phone conversation in February. The room was spotlessly clean.
I have the greatest respect for the staff, calmly and efficiently doing a really difficult job at such a difficult time. When my mother had a stroke
one of the staff was sitting with her when I arrived holding her hand.

Dad was admitted here in March as a result of a crisis situation, but it was always well understood that I wished him to return home to be cared for. I am also his Power of Attorney for health and well-being and as such, should have been involved in all decisions relating to his care. Dad suffers from
advanced dementia and demonstrated increasingly challenging behaviours to the extent that I was advised that care could probably not continue to be provided and that I could be advised of this at 24 hours' notice. I insisted that should this situation arise, that I am informed, and that I would come to remove him. However, at no time either during or after a weekend of his challenging behaviour was I contacted, and the next thing I knew I was receiving a call from the Community Psychiatric Nurse to advise me that there were two doctors on their way to the home to detain my father under the Mental Health Act. This is clearly unacceptable practice, so relatives of potential clients should be wary.

The staff always have time to talk to us about my father-in-law's general health, medication and state of his wellbeing. This is appreciated because of the covid visiting restrictions. he has put on some badly need weight and his diabetes has not been so well controlled for years. For the most part,
he appears content and we very grateful to the Blaenos staff for their excellent level of care.

Wonderful setting to be able to care for elderly relatives with needs related to dementia care. From August 2019 - February 2020, my mother-in-law was resident within Blaenos House. The clue is in the name, it is homely, friendly, welcoming and full of kindness. During this period, as a family we have
been witness to moments of delight and sadness, all accompanied by the team at the house. My mother-in-law has had to contend with the damage to her mind by this savage disease but has been ably supported at all times by the team at the home. She has funded her own care here, and we have been privileged to witness the abilities of the team in coping with tremendous needs by the residents, but being able to organise themselves so that each resident is cared for.
There is also a great link with the local GP practice, who regularly review residents. There has also been a new manager in post from January 2020, who will continue to maintain standards. The home is very hygienic and always clean and tidy.

We found the home a friendly, caring environment. As our father was a Welsh speaker, it was important that staff communicated with him through the medium of Welsh. We greatly appreciated the care and kindness shown to him and us as a family during his last days.

My mother was in Blaenos House Care & Nursing Home from March 2009 until her death in January 2018.
She had dementia which progressively got worse over the years, and in the last few years, she had to be fed.
She was also doubly incontinent.
During the whole nine years of her stay there, both the
nursing and care home staff were so caring and attentive towards her.
The communication from them was excellent at all times.
I live in Leicestershire 170 mile from the care home, so I was only able to visit once a month.
Therefore the care that she received there was of great comfort to me and my family.
All records of her care were rigorously recorded, which I reviewed and signed at regular intervals.
This care home should be used as a blueprint for care homes throughout the country.
Maybe this review could be passed on to the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care and the Welsh Health Secretary.

My relative was admitted to Blaenos in July 2017 with complex needs. The home is managed most efficiently with guidance and supervision provided to all staff who work well within a team. Residents are treated with dignity. Care plans are discussed with the family. Communication is excellent. The
building is clean and is currently being refurbished to a high standard, providing a comfortable environment for everyone. I have received excellent support and reassurance from the manager in a professional manner. The care delivered is of a high standard.
