I returned to Plas Y Dderwen in July 2022, whereby as a team we are passionate about the residents that we support and the experience they have whilst in our care. I have recently started here at Plas y Dderwen in the role of Clinical Deputy Manager. I have a degree in adult general nursing and have been a qualified nurse since 2012. My nursing background is in a nursing home setting. I have experience in elderly care and young adults with acquired brain injuries, learning difficulties and complex needs. I am passionate about person-centred care.
It is important to me that I get to know the residents, families and the staffing team in order to build up professional relationships. I am a nurse who came to work at Plas Y Dderwen eleven years ago. I had previously worked for the NHS for 30+ years as a psychiatric nurse. I work nights on Teifi unit and love my job. I have met the most amazing people during my time here and consider it a privilege to care for people living their journey through dementia and its challenges. The staff I work with are well trained and experienced in delivering a high standard of individualised care. The home is a friendly comfortable environment with plenty of trips and activities going on. The management are very supportive of all the staff and their various needs. Training is ongoing constantly. I particularly enjoy the autonomy and responsibility of managing the unit on nights.
