Visiting my mother I was always greeted with smiles and made welcome. The staff always made time to answer any questions and were very supportive to me as well as my mother. The number of staff dedicated to activities has increased during my mother's stay which allows for more one-to-one social interaction as well as group activities and entertainment. Also, the Home is creating some interesting themed areas for the benefit of residents and I understand more projects are planned. I would not hesitate to recommend Brocastle Manor to anyone requiring nursing or full-time care.

I am passionate about making a difference for people living with dementia, however small the outcome achieved. In my role I am lucky to have the opportunity to build relationships with the families of those we care for learning about their lives they lived and the adventures they had, this helps us all to enhance their lives.

My name is Clara Kasvosve and I am married and a mum of three beautiful children. I did my nurse training in Birmingham and I have been a registered Mental health nurse for over 13 years. I have worked in a variety of setting including secure units with challenging behaviour, management role and to Dementia care settings.
I had been working at Brocastle initially for 3 years as an agency nurse. I became permanent with the Home from July 2021. The home has such great people in all the departments, the level of professionalism and the level of care I have seen has been exemplary. We did face our challenges through the Covid pandemic, but the staff worked together as a team to deliver care to our residents. The effects of covid has impacted on all of us, but staff do support each other and continue to deliver the best care to the residents.

My name is Gillian Watson, I have been the Financial Administrator at Brocastle since March 2016.
What I love most about being at Brocastle is the sense of being part of a big family. Everyone looks out for everyone else, and we all work together as part of that team. That became apparent in the pandemic when we all swapped roles and did everything we could, to ensure that the residents were all well looked after and safe.
I had never worked in the care sector as such when I started at Brocastle, but I had worked at Colchester Hospital, so was working in the NHS for about 2 years. It was definitely an eye opener coming to Brocastle, but I grew to love it and the residents and staff and really enjoy working here.

Hello, I’m Ceri Powell one of the activity organisers at Brocastle Manor and I have worked here for over 12 years. Before coming here I held the same position at Southerndown Home for the Blind and Elderly for 11 years.
Planning activities for our residents to enjoy is a job which is always interesting and rewarding, it is always nice to see the smiles at the end of one of our activity sessions. A stimulating varied and fun activities programme has always been a priority at Brocastle and I enjoy looking for new ways to achieve this with the help of the dedicated team I work with.
The last two years have been challenging and to see the hard work and dedication of all the staff at Brocastle has been truly inspiring, and by all working together we have continued to put our residents needs first and to make a difference, I have learned many new ways to help residents to keep in touch with families using technology, with only a few mishaps!
In my spare time, I love spending time with my family, traveling, listening to music and going out for meals with friends.
