Ty Gwynno Care Home offers residential, nursing, dementia and palliative care to up to 46 older people in Pontypridd.

The home is just outside the town centre, with a bus route into the high street where residents can enjoy shops and amenities. It is also half an hour’s drive from Cardiff. The home is in a quiet residential area with stunning views over the surrounding countryside.

Ty Gwynno Care Home is cheerfully decorated throughout its lounge and dining areas and its conservatory. Each bedroom is single and has a television point and WiFi, with a lift to bedrooms on the first floor. There is a large, landscaped garden with a seated patio area.

An activities coordinator organises a weekly timetable of activities, such as exercise classes, music and entertainment, gardening and quizzes.

Residents are involved in planning the menu, with all food being nutritionally balanced and dietary requirements accommodated.

I love it here, I have made friends with a lot of people, I have got loads of friends. We have a lot of entertainment. I did not have anyone to talk to, but the staff are great upstairs and downstairs. I am not lonely anymore, I did not have anyone until I came here and I love it. Thank you for taking
me in when no one wanted me.

I visit every week and am always happy to see the care and attention given, not only to my sister but all the residents, sometimes in difficult situations. The staff and manager keep me informed if there are any changes in my sister's health etc.

I first became involved with Ty Gwynno when my mum joined the home in December 2015. Mum has since passed away but I have continued to visit most Fridays, to help with the knitting group.
Staff attitude to the residents is very impressive - they are hard-working, cheerful and naturally affectionate
towards their charges. Residents are treated as individuals and their needs are always taken seriously. The atmosphere is always upbeat and there is a lot of laughter in the home - which was the first impression I had of the place, which made me feel it was the right place for my mum.
Staff work so hard to keep the residents entertained and the variety of events devised is impressive. These ranged last year from involvement in the RSPB garden bird survey to an appearance from an Elvis impersonator which was hugely popular. Miniature ponies also visited and activities such as gardening, writing poetry and cookery happen regularly. A lot of thought goes into all aspects of care.

My relative has been a resident at Ty Gwynno for three and a half years he has had great care and attention, since he's been here most of the staff and nurses, are very caring they take timeout to talk to residents although they are busy I would recommend this home to anyone who has a relative looking
for a place.

My mother has been in Ty Gwynno for 19 months and every time I call in to see my mum the staff are outstanding in every way. I can't recommend this home enough. It is clean and tidy and caring and the food is fabulous. 10/10.

We visit our sister as often as we can and always found the staff and facilities very good. From the chef who offers us tea or coffee to the staff that put on the different things that are going on to keep the patients occupied which I think is essential because I think there is nothing worse for people
to be left with nothing to occupy their minds. From the cleaners down everyone is very helpful and good. Myself, I am 85 yrs young.
