I am very happy with my father's move from home to Quarry Hall because it is situated about one mile from my house, which makes visiting Dad on a daily basis, quite easy. Whilst there, I find the staff most welcoming and very competent in their duties. They all have been very attentive to my requests
to encourage my father to partake more in the daily activities of the home and I feel confident that my father is in a good situation regarding treatment, feeding and hygiene. All in all, I am left feeling well pleased with Dad's present and future prospects at the home.

My mum was in Quarry Hall for 10 days on respite. Unfortunately, she was traumatised by her experience and the lack of care and support she received. She was provided with a call button only to find when she used it there was either no response or was told they were busy and would be back but didn’t
return. For someone reliant on nursing care this is not acceptable. Over the 10-day stay, she did not have a shower, despite us being shown a very impressive shower room.
Having viewed the home prior to her stay, it’s fair to say we were optimistic that it would be a good experience for her, the facilities looked great.
This first experience of a Care Home fell extremely short of our expectations and my mum now refuses to consider respite care anywhere in the future. Overall very poor experience.

Our brother has only been at Quarry Hall a short time, in that time, all the staff caring for him have shown him great kindness and attention to his needs. He is not really confident having been at Quarry Hall for such a short space of time, however, the staff are so supportive and their ability to
look at his needs and awareness of the uniqueness that makes each one of us, is really helpful to us and him.

My mother has been in your care at Quarry Hall Care Home for four to five years. She has dementia and is very happy there. I have always found the staff happy and helpful with any

The local carers and staff are trying their best to implement safe visits and support to family and friends. Unfortunately, HC-One is such a large concern and managed from headquarters, that communication from headquarters to care homes is very poor. Liaising with local government to implement changes
is so slow that changes take weeks. This had a big impact on the well-being of all families.

I have found all staff (including catering, cleaners and maintenance) very caring and approachable. During the lockdown, much love and care in keeping residents entertained and involved. I cannot praise the staff enough for working through the pandemic with due care and diligence.

The care my father has received has always been brilliant. It continues to be brilliant but I do wish something could have been done to allow me to visit during lockdown. My father is bedbound and cannot be moved to a window for visits. I find it difficult to get hold of and speak to the right people
but when I have, they have been very helpful and understanding.

I am extremely impressed by all the staff and the care they provide is above and beyond the call of duty. Dad moved into Quarry Hall in Cardiff almost 3 years ago. He has been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s 6 years before. The outstanding care he has received and the support I have received at this really challenging time has been faultless. The reception, office and nursing/care staff have shown genuine empathy
and care for Dad with real warmth and professionalism. The main thing, however, is that Dad is content and settled in his environment despite the fact that he has had no physical contact from any family member for almost 11 months. I could not ask or have hoped for more and would have no hesitation in recommending Quarry Hall to anyone who needs support and care in later years. I had done extensive research when the time came for Dad to be cared for, visiting almost 25 premises. The feeling I had when I first visited Quarry Hall was like no other.

My wonderful 94-year-old mother has been in Quarry Hall 3 years plus as she needs 24-hour nursing care. Since the Covid outbreak, visiting ceased and then brought to visits in the garden. Now another lockdown. My mother did get Covid but with the exceptional help from all of the staff and hospital she
amazed us all and pulled through. I am so pleased that l chose this nursing home, all the staff, from the manager, all the office staff, carers and nurses, have gone above and beyond to make sure that my mum is getting her every need being met, and is the same for every resident there. It is hard to say in words how very grateful my family and I are. God bless each and everyone of you at Quarry Hall, you are all truly amazing.

My uncle had various medical issues and had to be admitted to Quarry Hall aged only 67. We were concerned that he may not settle after living alone for many years and being very independent. We needn’t have worried as he fitted in immediately and was very happy there, he loved the staff and they enjoyed
his quirky sense of humour. He was only there a few months until he sadly passed away but we are happy knowing that the last few months of his life was spent somewhere he enjoyed being. Nothing was too much trouble, we were kept informed of every aspect of his care and his every need was accommodated fully. I would recommend Quarry Hall to anybody considering care options. Thank you all at Quarry Hall for everything.

I would like to take the opportunity to give a big thank you to Quarry Hall Care Home, who cared for my mum Glenys for the last 15-months of her life. The staff at the care home are the most accommodating people I have met. My mum was given the kindest care whilst staying there and was always treated
with respect and dignity. The staff at Quarry Hall are like one big family unit who always treat relatives with politeness and reassurance, especially during the lockdown when we were unable to visit my mum. You could ring the home at any time if you had any concerns and were always reassured by the friendly professional staff. I cannot thank the staff enough for the kindness they showed both myself and my mum during her last few days. I will always be grateful for this, especially during such awful circumstances and with the home being on lockdown. I will always speak highly of Quarry Hall and would always recommend it.

I would just like to say how much I am grateful for the staff at Quarry Hall, they have gone up and beyond with all the covid-19 and trying to keep families connected. They video call us once a week, which is lovely to see if we can't be there in person. At least we can see her through technology, staff
don't get enough recognition for all the hard work that they do.

My Dad was only with the home for two weeks and deteriorated fast.


He was confused and had a cough, I believed COVID, but the home ignored me, he was not put into quarantine and has most likely infected many others.


He became difficult to manage, which was totally different from his time in the

previous location, this has now been confirmed as a symptom of the COVID affecting his Dementia.


The home has now refused to 'take him back' even though he has returned to 'normal' management according to the hospital.


Communication has been extremely poor and the risk of COVID spreading was ignored.


Due to COVID home was on lockdown and as such 'satisfactory' means I have no idea.

At Quarry Hall our team has been working tirelessly with the Local Authority and relevant Healthcare Multidisciplinary Agencies to provide a safe environment for both residents and colleagues. During the Covid-19 pandemic, all pre-admission assessments are being carried out over the phone with the expectation that the information provided is accurate to enable us to make informed decisions and safe admissions. Unfortunately, the information provided was not an accurate account of behaviours and presentation on admission. We have a duty to consider the needs of all residents residing in our home to ensure their wellbeing and safety is maintained. Our local General Practice is affording us extraordinary support which includes virtual visits, physical visits or both, daily or as required. Our team is working in unprecedented circumstances and they are altruistic in their approach to caring for our residents.

Ther home provides a safe, clean and welcoming environment for mum. It is nicely decorated and her room is lovely, having her own en-suite bathroom is great. I feel that I can rest assured that she has 24-hour care as well as chiropodist, doctor and hairdresser on call. The Forest View unit and its
staff have become like family to her.

As a Registered General Nurse, Carla has gained a wealth of experience in providing care and nursing support to elderly people, to enrich their lives. She is a knowledgeable and dedicated leader who is passionate about delivering the highest standards of care and quality of life for Residents.


Having worked at HC-One for over a decade, Carla closely shares HC-One’s vision is aiming to provide the kindest care for each and every Resident. She extends this caring approach to her Colleagues and works closely with them to deliver care and support to Residents in a way that they gain the most benefit, in a warm and welcoming home.


When asked what she enjoys most about her role, Carla remarked:


“Being able to support and develop a group of amazing Colleagues from all different backgrounds, to become the better version of themselves. With that valuable team, we are able to support, enhance and have the privilege of actively participating in this outstanding life chapter that our lovely residents are living.”
