Ael-Y-Bryn provides high quality care for up to 30 residents some living with dementia who are no longer able to fully look after themselves. Staff do their utmost to provide residents with a friendly and comfortable atmosphere where they can feel at home.

Residents are treated as individuals and their unique qualities, abilities, interests and needs are always taken into account when designing individual care plans. The supportive staff strive to enhance residents’ lives by providing appropriate, person-centred care and helping them to engage in stimulating activities.

Menus are tasty and nutritious, made using fresh and seasonal produce. The team are very proud of their 5-star rating.

I honestly couldn’t ask for a better care home for my mum to be in! The staff and the care that Mum gets is fantastic! It’s like one big happy family there, always lots of entertainment and all the family are included! It’s a great care home!

The 5-star reviews on this site must be fictitious because the Ael Y Bryn my mother was at for 5 days was atrocious.
My mother was spotless when she went in for a week's respite and within 5 days was a shadow of herself, her face was pale and drawn, she was smelling of urine because they were not changing
her pads regularly or washing her, her legs had weeping blisters with a dirty bandage on, she had faeces on her dress and a bruise on her foot and hand.
I packed up my mother's belongings and took her home.
The staff are nasty and sharp with the service users and I would not treat my dogs the way they treat people. They are a disgrace and vulnerable people should not be in their care!

I am deeply sorry your mother had a bad experience at our care home; we acknowledge how upsetting this must be for you and your mother. Please accept our sincere apologies. Our staff aim to do their very best for every resident. In this case your mother was highly distressed at being away from home/family and refused to communicate in English. Had you informed us that she was known to do this then we would never have agreed her placement to avoid her any distress. Given the circumstances our staff did their very best including providing one on one care at times when needed. Despite all of the above I am mindful that you have had a bad experience at our home and so would once again apologise for any distress caused and for the disruption to your 2 week respite plans.

My mother has been a resident since 2021. She is looking healthier now then she has been for several years. The staff and management are excellent and obviously care about their residents, treating them all with respect and dignity.
My mother is very happy there and enjoys having company around her.
Any
issues I have had (not many) have been dealt with promptly.
I would and have recommended Ael-Y-Bryn to anyone.
The home could do with modernising but as for the staff, I can't fault them.

Ael-y-Bryn has worked through a very difficult period extremely well, excellent care provided and communication from staff. Social activities have been good throughout as far as possible, one point to highlight is that the staff are regular which obviously helps with both communication and as a constant
to us and to the residents.

The overall level of care for my mum so far has been excellent, she appears happy which is a direct result of the quality of the staff and management. The care home is very accommodating with regard to family visits and celebrations.

My father has been in Ael-y-Bryn for over a year now and is very much part of the Ael-y-Bryn family. I feel safe in the knowledge that the wonderful staff don't just look after him but genuinely care. I am always made to feel very welcome and encouraged to give my opinion on what's best for Dad. The
environment is a bit tired (hence the good rather than excellent rating) but don't let that deceive you, it's the people, not the building that made me choose this place and I thank my lucky stars that I did!

My mother had a wonderful welcome and has settled in really well. The staff and management are excellent. We are kept well informed at all times. My mother appears happy and contented and we love to see the photos of her joining in the activities that the home provides.

My mum has been a resident since 2019. I will forever be grateful to my sister for finding Ael-y-Bryn. It is the most difficult decision to put your parents in a care home but Ael-y-Bryn have made things so much easier. My mum is so well cared for. The amount of activities the residents do is excellent
and they want for nothing. The staff are like family friends and you can see it's a vocation for them, not just a job.

I cannot recommendation Ael Y Bryn enough. My grandfather is glowing after being at Ael Y Bryn for seven months. The staff there are like family to us now. He is treated with the utmost dignity. He tells me that the food is “amazing” and he’s a very fussy man when it comes to his food. The range of
activities they offer is second to none, from the local schools visiting weekly to even having animals visit (including a small pony). I absolutely love seeing what they are getting up to from their posts on their social media page. The building and grounds are outstanding in appearance and cleanliness. All in all, I wouldn’t trust anyone else with my grandfathers care.

I visit my aunt up to six times a week and always find the atmosphere first-class. The staff are very caring and provide a great service. All aspects of the home are excellent. The meals, cleanliness and the security are first class. My aunt has been a resident for 21 months and is happy and contented.
I would certainly recommend this care home to anyone looking for a place where their loved one can be cared for in a proficient, efficient and caring manner.

Since my family member moved to Ael-y-Bryn six months ago, I've become increasingly convinced that it's the care staff and management that make this care home so successful. They are friendly, helpful, empathic and very caring, and, most importantly, really enjoy their jobs - and this also extends to
the catering and maintenance staff. Caring is quite obviously a vocation for so many of them, and there are always plenty of staff on duty.


I’ve noticed there is an exceptionally low staff turnover, which means that all the carers know each resident really well, and can easily pick up when they are upset or feeling unwell. The managers are very approachable and sensitive to the pressures family members may have been under prior to a resident's arrival at the home. The home is bright, always smells fresh and is very clean. You won't find a lifeless, lethargic atmosphere here!

Hello all my name is Andrew- I am the very proud manager of Ael-y-bryn care home.


My journey in the care sector started in the year 2000 almost 25 years ago. It began with young adults, then moving on to more clinical settings and hospital work to now residential elderly care at Ael-y-bryn where I have been for almost 7 years.


I am passionate about my role, delivering high standards and excellent levels of care not only to my residents but also to their families and my fantastic staff team. My door is always open to chat and solve any problems or queries you may have.


Outside of work, I love to spend time with my family and close friends. My favourite hobbies are cricket and football-most weekends you will find me somewhere across the country watching and supporting my teams.
I love to travel to different parts of the world and experience different cultures on offer. My favourite holiday destination to date would have to be the east coast of Australia and Byron Bay.

Job Title: Deputy Home Manager

Hi, my name is Elaine. I joined Ael-y-Bryn Care Home 2 years ago initially as a team leader on the day's team.


I have since progressed to deputy manager. I have been in the care industry for 35 years in a variety of different roles over the years. I take great pride in my role working closely alongside the home manager & care staff team in striving to deliver the best care possible to our residents. I love my role as no two days are the same and I like to be kept on my toes.


Outside of work, I like to spend time with my family and friends. I enjoy my foreign holidays-favourite destination being Corfu.

Job Title: Home administrator

My name is Natalie Johnson. I joined Ael-y-Bryn Care Home 3 years ago as a home administrator. I enjoy my role within the home and the great team we have.


My role at Ael-y-Bryn is to support the management team with the business aspect of the home, also supporting residents and families. From the pre-admission stage all the way through their stay.


I take great satisfaction in being there to support and be supported by the team as we all strive to make a difference in all our resident's days at Ael-y-Bryn.


Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my children, walking my dog in the mountains and holidaying in Cyprus.

Hello guys- My name is Sukena or Suki for short. I absolutely love my role at Ael-y-Bryn care home. I am on hand 5 days a week. I support, stimulate and entertain our residents and families. I support management in bringing the best entertainment acts into the home so our residents and families can enjoy themselves. I also facilitate any important events like birthdays, anniversaries etc.

Hi all My name is Dan. I have been at Ael-y-Bryn for 12 months now. Joining the team was the best career move I have made to date. My main role is the upkeep of the home and making sure the grounds, safety checks, decoration and refurbishments are all in hand. I take great pride in my work and ensuring we are offering a fantastic facility.


Before joining Ael-y-bryn I was a carer myself for almost 20 years. I love to interact with and support the residents as well.


I can put my hand on anything and love to work on any home improvements.


Outside of work I am a dad to 4 wonderful children and love a pint of Guinness to watch the rugby at the weekends.
