Awel-Y-Mor is a Swansea-based rehabilitation centre with a proven track record of supporting the local community. It provides high dependency care, active and slow-stream rehabilitation and respite care.

It welcomes young physically disabled adults who have experienced traumatic or acquired brain injury, Spinal injury or who have other physical disabilities and complex needs. It also provides care for young people who suffer from congenital illnesses and those who have learning disabilities.

It has strong links with local GP services and an excellent activities programme.
Staff work hard to enable all residents to enjoy individual choice & lifestyle preferences throughout their stay, with their own care plan organised in collaboration with key workers.

Lynda Hamilton-Shaw

Job Title: General Manager

Joined: 2013

Hi, I'm Lynda, the General Manager here at Awel-Y-Mor, and I would like to welcome you to our home.


I started at Awel-Y-Mor in January 2013 and became General Manager in October 2015. I am responsible for the day-to-day running of the home, ensuring all staff provide excellent care to residents, and promoting a happy and friendly atmosphere in which family and friends can feel welcome and know their loved one is cared for and supported.

Rachael has vast experience with brain injuries and complex needs. She has previously worked at Awel-Y-Mor before and has now returned as Deputy Manager.

I provide specialist assessment and treatment programs for residents, and I am responsible for the day-to-day running of the physiotherapy department. I have worked in the NHS since 2003, in community and neurology, before joining the physio team here at the home in 2021. I qualified as a physio in the Philippines in 2001 and completed my master’s degree in chronic conditions management in 2013.

I provide physiotherapy treatment for residents at Awel-Y-Mor with the help of our therapy assistant, Marlene. We work with residents to help them achieve their goals and reach their full potential.
