For the time my husband has been in April Court I have been very happy with the treatment he is receiving.

My mother has been at April Court for over a year and throughout her stay here the care has not been amazing at all. The few staff that are good at their job are run off their feet while the rest are more concerned with their phones and not caring for the residents. The buzzers are a constant background
noise as they take ages to be answered, on occasions my mother has had to wait for over half an hour for the buzzer to be answered. When she fell in the night she spent over an hour to be found on the floor as no checks are regularly made during the night. Also, the food and drinks supplied are mostly inedible so I and my brother have to shop for most of her food and drinks throughout the stay.

Thank you for your review. We are very disappointed to read some of your feedback, especially as a few of the issues have not been raised with us directly. As it's not appropriate to discuss the details of your mother's care on this public website, we will contact you directly to arrange a meeting to try to get to the bottom of any unresolved or new issues if necessary. It sounds as though the personalised arrangements we already had in place around your mother's food and drink may need further review, for instance. I can, however, clarify that what may appear to be staff using their phones whilst at work is more likely to be them inputting live data onto our electronic care recording system. This enables us, for instance, to review what each resident had to eat or drink on any given day, as well as what other care they received. I do want to reassure you that we want your mother to be happy at April Court, and for you as her family to feel she is well looked after.

My dad receives excellent care given with empathy and dignity. April Court being an old building could do with some TLC, in particular the on-suite needs refurbishing. My overall experience to date has been very positive.

April Court presents a warm clean welcome on arrival. The ambiance is calm and pleasant. Residents seem happy and well cared for. They always look spotlessly clean with neat hairdos. Care staff are professional and empathic. I appreciate the updated records on staff mobiles so that I know what my Mother
has been eating between visits. Resident nurses are bright and cheerful, circulating and asking residents how they are continuously. Management are keen and helpful.
The decor and garden are first class. The activity staff is constantly encouraging participation in cookery, crafts and games.
The food is excellent quality and the menu is adapted to individuals choice and needs.
When I stayed with my mother all day I was offered a drink and sandwiches which were fresh and tasty. If the Caron Group had a residence near my family in Caerphilly, I would put my name down for my old age needs.
I would like to thank you for your outstanding care.

I cannot thank the staff enough, my sister-in-law was treated with care and dignity throughout her stay in April Court she was able to do cooking and gardening with the help of the staff. We had a lovely day with karaoke and cakes, she had a lovely room and we could call in at any time to see her if
we had any questions there was always someone there to ask. April Court is an amazing care home with exceptional staff.

A close friend of mine who sadly was terminally ill was admitted to April Court where she recently passed away. However, the care and compassion she was shown in the short time she was there were brilliant They kept her as active as they could with activities on a daily basis like bingo, cooking, painting
and many more. The staff were very welcoming to us as her friends as well as family I would highly recommend April Court.

I highly recommend April Court. My grandfather is not a very social person and had the tendency to hide away from people in his room. After much encouragement from the staff he now has the confidence to go downstairs with other residents. He is always busy doing different activities from crafts, games,
cooking, gardening and much much more. Thanks to the activity career who is always running around making sure everyone is involved and happy she is amazing. It’s the happiest I have seen him in years.

My Nanny sadly passed away peacefully at April Court nursing home on the morning of the 29th of December 2022. I would like to thank all the staff for looking after her with such care. They are all excellent carers and nurses who made her life happier for the past year. She made some lovely friends
with both residents and staff. She sadly passed away with my Mam and Auntie sitting by her side. The staff supported them throughout this time. When she passed away, they said how amazing the staff were to come in and all pay their respects. From cooks, cleaning staff, carers and nurses they all equally paid their respects. As a family, we would like to say a big thank you to all the staff and managers of April Court nursing home for making her feel happy and well looked after as they are all one big family there. God bless you all staff and residents. Love from all the family.

I have nothing but praise for the level of care, consideration and kindness given to my brother by all the staff at April Court Care Home. He can be quite demanding at times but the team take it all in their stride. He feels safe and at home and I couldn't ask for more.

My mother suffers with anxiety and depression and requires nursing care, her care needs were discussed extensively with the manager of April Court prior to her arrival on 14th September. We were not informed of strict Covid restrictions until she arrived and found I would not be allowed in the building
to settle Mum in, she had a panic attack and was extremely distressed. She had a very unsettled first night/day, and her care plan was not followed. Within 24 hours, on 15th September the manager served notice on my mother, giving her 28 days to find alternative accommodation. I was not informed by the manager, my 79-year-old mother was told and left very distraught. There was no major incident to warrant this, she was told she doesn't fit in and complains too much. Booked visit cancelled 30mins beforehand as they'd made a mistake, devastated mother. No communication from manager, unwilling to meet/discuss care or allow settling in period. Staff are lovely, the manager is not.

Have been very pleased with the way the care home has handled the pandemic. The care staff have been very helpful during this pandemic time. Very pleased to meet my brother in the garden. We both preferred the garden to meeting inside separated by glass. I believe he is getting proper nursing care.
But I am sad his mobility is deteriorating. My brother is happy and that is the main concern.

I believe my father is well looked after in difficult times (Covid). The staff are friendly informative and we have regular updates on dad condition. It is encouraging to see a significant number of staff still in the home some 2 years after my mother was here. The staff are very accommodating and proactive.
The visiting room is great although unfortunately not available as much as we would wish but understand limitations.

April Court continues to provide an excellent service and has taken great care of the residents during these difficult times. The current arrangements for visiting, with a dedicated indoor screened area, are very welcoming and inviting whilst feeling very safe and secure. We have been most impressed
with this arrangement and with all the work carried out in the residents' garden. The staff continue to be friendly and supportive even though our interaction is necessarily much less than it was before Covid 19. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this home to other families looking for nursing care.

The staff are great. They have been wonderful in this pandemic. They have told me what's going on and what they are doing. It is a spotless home, well maintained, the rooms are homely, the food is great and I have eaten there in the past. Am now able to see mum, they have a room with perspex and we
are able to go and see them.
