My sister and brother-in-law have been living here for the past 5 months and I couldn't praise this care home enough. Staff are very caring and any problems can be discussed, no problems. The staff are amazing from the manager to all nursing and care staff. It has been the best decision for both of
them and they are very happy living here which gives the rest of the family peace of mind.

It was the first time in respite for my father, he has been very happy and settled in very good and has enjoyed his stay at Barchester Llys-y-Tywysog. Following 2 major operations and a fall, I decided to go to Llys-y-Twysog for respite care. I loved it so much that I extended my stay by 8 days. The staff are amazing and really go the extra mile to take care of you. The food is excellent and the chef made sure that any dietary requirements were met.
If there was something I didn't particularly like, he would offer an alternative.

Very good service starting from the home visit. Everything was explained in great detail, found the manager very helpful with things relating to outside of the care home. The staff are very pleasant and hardworking. Mam has settled down very well and it's quite nice to know she is in safe hands and

Very good. Came for respite after a hip replacement but have now decided to stay here and sell my flat. Excellent care which I so badly need, day and night. There is room for improvement in some areas but overall facilities, care, kindness and well-being for residents are acceptable. All members of staff are professional in their approach and understanding of residents' needs. On occasion, they are understaffed and pushed to the limit but still provide

Michelle Bowen

Hello I am Michelle the General Manager of Lys-Y-Tywysog.  I have worked at Llys-Y-Tywysog for over 20 years, I really have worked in every department and I love every element of the job!  In 2019 I completed the QCF Level 5 in management to become Deputy Manager and was delighted to be appointed General Manager in 2021.


It is so rewarding working in this wonderful home and I am honoured to lead such a committed team.  I am sure we have one of the longest serving teams of any home, with a number of the team having worked at Llys for over 10 years and some over 20 years.  I am passionate about delivering excellent care to residents and enriching their lives every day with the focus on person centred care.  We also offer a fantastic life enrichment programme with fun and varied activities and events.


I am here to offer support to the residents, their families and the team.  For anyone considering care for themselves or for a loved one our doors are open for you to visit and meet the team.

My close connection with Llys remained as my father-in-law was a former resident, so I was still visiting regularly. I am delighted to be back working with the team.


I am creative and hope to bring new ideas for activities and events as well as still running firm favourites! My passion is about enhancing the lives of the residents from individual time through to big celebratory events. Sarah will continue to work as part of the activities team, working alongside me part-time whilst studying for her degree at Swansea University.
