Daddy has been living at The Old Vicarage Nursing Home since January 2023 and settled in straight away. The staff are all wonderful from carers, nurses, cooks, cleaners and laundry. They are a team of very experienced staff looking after my dad with patience and loving care. The cooks prepare good nutritious
meals and cater well for my dad's diabetes. There are days they have activities, where he's made cakes and some lovely people brought animals which dad loved etc. It feels like home from home, very welcoming, friendly, calm and warm. They sit out in the gardens in summer to enjoy the birds and beautiful flowers. Nothing is too much trouble for them. Christmas they decorated the trees beautifully and had a fun-filled Christmas party for the residents. I couldn't have wished for a nicer home for Dad as the staff are all so kind. On fine days, I'm able to take Daddy out which we both love and they encourage this. Eternal gratitude to you all forever.

My mother was placed in the Old Vicarage in October 2020. I was the initiator of the choice mainly from an ex-staff member's recommendation and personal discussions with the owner. She was always ready to listen and answer important questions at a difficult time in my mother's life. With the owner,
there is no waffle or sales pitch, as we have discovered she is a thoroughly honest and decent human being who seeks the best possible care and outcome for her residents. My mother entered the Old Vicarage with a number of physical and mental issues. Within two weeks we saw a marked change in mam, the home had removed her catheter and retrained her bladder. In addition, within weeks through physical and mental stimulation our mother steadily improved, this was solely down to the staff who spent time with her and always encouraged her to become more independent. The care and love shown to mam is remarkable. This care comes from the top.

My sister had MND. Old Vicarage was just the place she needed. She felt safe and loved in her last weeks of life. They made her last birthday a memorable one. The carers always treated her with dignity and patience. They also shared a joke or two. If there were any problems staff were happy to find
a solution. The support of all the staff were extended to family and friends and I will never be able to thank them enough.

The food is of a high quality and plentiful with regular entertainment provided.
Security is good, car parking convenient and the garden is simple and accessible
to residents.
Tv's in every room, hairdressing and chiropody visit regularly. Happy with our choice.

What a great home. The staff are friendly, kind, sympathetic, approachable and treat all the residents with compassion and dignity. The choice of menu is great and if you wanted something else they will cook it for you, even family are offered food and drinks. They take residents, if they are able,
out on day trips. They also put on activities and family days. The place is warm and welcoming and I would recommend this home to anyone.

My husband has been a resident at the Old Vicarage nursing home in Tonna since February 2014. He is treated with care and dignity. All of the staff are really caring and the choice of menu is very good. They will always make something for you. Families are offered a meal or refreshments. It is family
owned and run and are a great support to me and my family. We would recommend it to anyone which I have and there is a waiting list to get in there so that speaks for itself.

Current Review Score: 8.0 (8.036)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.0 (8.036) out of 10 for Old Vicarage is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 1 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.1 out of 5 from 1 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.917 for Old Vicarage is calculated as follows: ( (11 Excellents x 5) + (1 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 12 Ratings = 4.917

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 3.119 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Old Vicarage is based on 1 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 = 3

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 42 registered maximum number of service users is 8.4. 1 Positive Reviews ÷ 8.4 = 0.119

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
