My wife sadly passed away very recently from dementia, nearly a decade after diagnosis.
She entered St Anne's nearly two years ago following care at home.
From the first day, we were very pleased with the care and support provided.
All the staff were unfailingly friendly and we established many
good relationships. No request was too much trouble.
Our loved one was always well looked after in terms of personal care and all food was prepared to a good standard.
The home organises many activities both internally and from visiting entertainers etc.
Family and friends, some of whom have had personal experience of professional caring have commented very favourably about the home.

My family and I would like to thank all the staff at St Anne's for the kindness and support given to us during my husband's stay. He was very happy there and settled down very quickly, leaving us with lovely lasting memories. The camaraderie within the home is wonderful, and nothing is too much trouble
for residents and families. The home itself is very welcoming, the garden areas are lovely, and the food is good too - my husband smiled and clapped a lot, especially when the tea trolley arrived. During his last few days there, he was cared for superbly, and the compassion showed to him and us was excellent. All staff are respectful, kind and very patient. I could not have found a better place for him.

Reply from Brian Hadley, Managing Director at St Anne's Nursing Home (Orchard Unit)& (Cedars EMI Residential Unit)

From the moment my auntie arrived at St Anne’s, I was comforted by the genuine care and attention she was given. I found the staff very welcoming on my visits and always enjoyed the warm atmosphere there. I could not have asked for a better place for my auntie to spend the end of her amazing life. Many
thanks to all the staff there.

In the last 5-years, I and my family have spent a lot of time at St Anne's. We cannot fault the management or staff at all; management is always available to answer any questions. My dad was very happy here, always clean and tidy, always smiling. All the staff are wonderful from the management through
to the kitchen staff and cleaners. Staff treat residents with the utmost respect. We were told we could visit anytime, treat the home as Dads home, which we did. Dad enjoyed his food and was always offered extra portions. Whenever we visited, we were made welcome and always had a cuppa! I used to go once a week and sing with my guitar; the staff always interacted with residents. Lots of building work and improvements have been made over the last few years. There is a lovely garden area for residents to enjoy in the nice weather. Family activities are arranged throughout the year. A summer fete and always a lovely Christmas party tea with entertainment. I would strongly recommend St Anne's.

Mum lived at St Anne's for almost 12-years until she died last month aged 91. My mother already had advanced dementia and she moved to St Anne's because she needed EMI care. Her changing and increasing needs were met throughout her time there. She needed a lot of equipment which St Anne's made sure
she got: lifting support through a hoist and harness, a specialist movable chair and an airflow bed. The staff cared for my mother with consistent kindness and affection. She was always well looked after. The home changed hands during her time at St Anne's. The manager and his team have strived consistently to maintain and upgrade the accommodation since taking over. They put in a lovely garden where residents can get fresh air in safety. They are innovative in trying to make the best of things for their residents. I never had a moment's concern for my mother's wellbeing at St Anne's. When you judge it as a home for a relative, please remember that it is an EMI facility and not a hotel.

I cant say enough for this home, they are all extremely thoughtful, each and every one from the kitchen staff, cleaners, carers, nurses and even office staff. We have recently been there 24 hours a day for five days as my dad was end of life. They all could not do enough not just for my dad but to all
the family that was there, feeding us cooked breakfast, dinner, tea and no ends of tea and coffee each time with a tray of biscuits. Never have we known a place like it. We just want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts, thank you xx

Current Review Score: 8.3 (8.347)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.3 (8.347) out of 10 for St Anne's Nursing Home (Orchard Unit)& (Cedars EMI Residential Unit) is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 2 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.3 out of 5 from 2 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

The Average Rating of 5.000 for St Anne's Nursing Home (Orchard Unit)& (Cedars EMI Residential Unit) is calculated as follows: ( (23 Excellents x 5) ) ÷ 23 Ratings = 5

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 3.347 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for St Anne's Nursing Home (Orchard Unit)& (Cedars EMI Residential Unit) is based on 2 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 = 3.125

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 45 registered maximum number of service users is 9. 2 Positive Reviews ÷ 9 = 0.222

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
