The care of my father is exceptional. The team are always available for any updates on Dad, who has been here 6 months. I have just been at a singer session with Dad and the activity lady made sure we were enjoying it all and made us feel as good as if we were at a concert/show. I hope I get as good
a care home myself when needed!

Mum's 100th Birthday was celebrated in a very enjoyable and fitting way. (We were asked our opinion before anything was arranged.) The entertainers, booked by the activities coordinator, were good and sang songs that all the people present could relate to. As a family we were included, catered for,
and given space to be with Mum. Our thanks must go to all the staff for making the day very special.

My dad has been at Crick Care Home since December 2022, I am more than happy with the care he receives. Staff are friendly and approachable and appear happy, management is also very approachable and the nursing team always take on board any concerns and address them straight away. Since new ownership,
it has been very noticeable on changes to the home inside and out. Crick is a beautiful home and it will be lovely to see the continued care and improvements being made.

My mum has vascular dementia and has been resident in Crick Care Home for a couple of years. The care she receives at Crick has led to an improvement in her condition, something we didn’t expect to see. The staff have all been fantastic in the care and attention that they give freely every day, money
has been spent on the fabric of the building and interior and I would recommend Crick to anyone needing a residential care home.

Mum reached Crick Care Home direct from hospital where she had been virtually bedridden after a five week stay. She seemed frail. Initially, she remained in her room while assessments were made but after a couple of weeks, she was joining other residents in the lounge and at meal times. Since then she
has appeared to gain strength and tells me she is happy with her situation. She certainly seems healthier and also content. When I visit, I always find staff cheerful and helpful.

Can't fault the staff and management, as whatever I ask, things are done, and any problems I am notified of straight away. The staff are always in contact whenever things need to change regarding my mother's well-being

My father has been a resident at Crick Care Home since December 2022, even though it has only been a few months myself and my family are very happy with the care and service he is being provided with. Crick has a very warm and welcoming feel that is matched by all staff. We are so happy, thank you!

I stayed here at this home during August 2021 approximately 31 days. I found the staff extremely efficient and friendly, very helpful, at all times. They were constantly on call and I found they were always prepared for most of the guests at all times. I would recommend this home at all times and I
would definitely use it again. Thanks to management and staff at all times.

Positives: When residents suffer ill-health nursing staff are very thorough and attentive. General standards at the Home are high, staff are caring and considerate.

Negatives: Everyday communication between nursing staff could be improved. The staff could be little more observant with residents

who have less obvious disabilities.

Overall it is a very good nursing home which I can recommend for an elderly relative.

Current Review Score: 8.9 (8.857)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.9 (8.857) out of 10 for Crick Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 5 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.0 out of 5 from 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.847 for Crick Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (50 Excellents x 5) + (9 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 59 Ratings = 4.847

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.01 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Crick Care Home is based on 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.5

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 49 registered maximum number of service users is 9.8. 5 Positive Reviews ÷ 9.8 = 0.51

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Registered Manager

I have been at Crick Care Home since 2022 and have over 7 years of experience in the management of care homes.

I assisted in managing my previous English home(s) from a CQC rating of “inadequate/requires improvement” to 'Good' as well as significantly increasing happiness and satisfaction scores among residents/care users.

As a dedicated and determined individual, I saw a new opportunity for an exciting new challenge with Crick where I can make a difference in the lives of others.

As of July 2023, the home changed ownership. All of the staff and residents are excited as the new owners have some great ideas to further enhance the home and its amenities.

If you would like any information on our home or would like to pop in for a chat and a look around, please do get in touch.

We look forward to meeting you.
