Dad has been a resident for almost a year and during that time he has received fabulous care from the team on his unit. He has presented with several issues during his time here but the staff have persisted to find the best care and routine to make sure he is looked after.

Staff are friendly and supportive.
The manager is very helpful and her office door is always open if you want to go in and speak to her.
The food is good.
The new owner has started to update the home by painting and decorating and replacing furniture.
Various activities throughout the week for residents
to join in.

My mother went to Bank House for three months, she was well looked after by all the staff.
The manager was very caring and always had time to talk to myself and family members.
I was very pleased with the way they all looked after my mother and I can't thank them enough.

My aunt was placed at Bankhouse nursing home as an end of life patient. She was expected to live 4-6 weeks. I am confident that it was the excellent care she received that she lived 14 months. She was bed nursed the entire time and had no pressure sores at any time.
They (Carers) were extremely kind
to my aunt. Especially two staff members were always helpful with us as a family. I would confidently recommend B.H.

This is from my two sisters and me. Our mother was only with BankHouse Care home for the last three days of her life. The staff showed a great deal of compassion and care for our mum, who could neither communicate or swallow. So her needs were not only met but were surpassed. This truly was a case of
quality of care.

Thank you to the managers and all your staff for the support you gave our family.

I originally placed my mother at Bank House in April 2014 and later placed my brother there in May 2015, I was blown away by the level of care and dedication both my family experienced. They were both shown love and compassion far in excess of any sense of duty within their job remit. I have on many
occasions recommended Bank House to friends and colleagues when opinions are requested. There has been lots of money spent over the last year upgrading all the facilities and improving the resident's environment.

Having brought in my friend for care and visited many times, I have found the home to be excellent in every department. The nursing and care staff to be professional and friendly in their dealings with residents and visitors.

Having been in local government for 22 years serving 19 as the political

lead of social services, I have as part of my responsibilities have on an annual basis reviewed all care homes in Blaenau Gwent and the previous Gwent County Councils. I feel qualified to give you my personal review.

My husband had a great time in Bank House. When I picked him up he was clean and well dressed. How I know I can leave him and go away knowing he will be looked after.

My mother went to Bank House in a carrier bed, the staff are amazing and cater to all needs of all the patients. We are so confident with the care that my mother is now staying permanently. The staff are friendly and caring.

My father has been here since January 2017 and has received nothing but first class care, both medically and socially. The food is of a high standard and there is plenty of it. There are social activities if wanted, or TV to watch. All in all, I cannot praise the care my father is receiving high
enough.

Dad was so happy at BankHouse. He was there less than 3 weeks but as a family, we were treated so well.
The staff were fantastic, I cannot fault anyone.
Dad was given so much respect.
From the moment he arrived, he was happy.
Thank you for making his last weeks the best he had had for a long time.
He
loved the food too and had put weight on!

My mother aged 92 needed 24-hour nursing care following a broken hip. A traumatic change after living in her own home for 69 years! BankHouse provided excellent care, reassurance and treated her with great dignity. They respected her Christian faith. She was always dressed nicely in her own clothes
and food adapted to suit her taste. Mam had poor eyesight, she recognised the staff by name and loved them all. In the last weeks of her life, the compassionate care was wonderful. We can not thank them enough and would recommend them to others.

My father-in-law asked to go into a care home after a few months in a hospital. Previously he lived in sheltered accommodation with carers. He has very poor mobility and multiple health problems and so required nursing care. My husband and I chose BankHouse Care Home. The matron gave clear helpful information.
The atmosphere of the home is good. Everyone engages well with the residents. The home is being refurbished but is kept very clean and the food is good. My father in law found the first week traumatic but he received wonderful care and is now happy there.

I find BankHouse Care Home staff and facilities to be good in general. Condition of rooms (and furniture in some) needs a general overhaul but the new owner is apparently in the process of doing so. Staff, on the whole, seem to know what is best and how to interact with my relative. some are better
than others, which is expected. I feel that my relative is safe and content (as much as possible) in the home.

BankHouse Care Home is an excellent care home. The staff are very kind, friendly and caring to my brother and other residents. They have a variety of activities and he enjoys the singers that come from time to time. His bedroom is always clean and tidy and I would recommend this home. Recently, there
has been a vast improvement in the garden and grounds outside, so will be very pleasant when the spring/summer comes for the residents.

Mum went into BankHouse Care Home April 2014. I was very worried about her going into a home. You hear so many stories about these homes, so I was very nervous. Mum was happy from the first day. They have singers coming in, a quiz, games and company all day. She is happy and well-cared for. The staff
are great, kind, happy and enjoy their job. They now have a new owner who is spending money on the building which was needed. I chose BankHouse Care Home because of what I found on the inside not how it looked from the outside.

My mum was admitted to BankHouse after a lengthy hospital stay. Her needs were thoroughly and accurately assessed by the home manager and she was made very welcome by all the staff.
The standard of nursing care at BankHouse is very high and staff at all levels are friendly, attentive and caring.
Leisure
and entertainment activities are high on the agenda and are well supported.
Facilities at the home are currently being refurbished.

Mum was admitted in May this year which was a traumatic time for us as a family as we wanted her to stay at home but due to her decline this was not sensible. However, the transition has proved positive as we are all more content knowing that she is well cared for and supported by very friendly staff.
A refurbishment of the home is in progress which will enhance the surroundings and rooms but we understand this is an on-going programme.

My dad is fairly new to the home but has settled in well.
The home has recently changed ownership and in a very short space of time, the changes have been very positive from what I can see.
There is a new garden where my dad can grow vegetables and feed the birds. The staff are great; friendly, caring,
and fun. It genuinely feels like a home and not a wing of a hospital like some others we visited!
We can't recommend it enough.

Current Review Score: 9.4 (9.377)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.4 (9.377) out of 10 for Bankhouse Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 10 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.7 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.644 for Bankhouse Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (87 Excellents x 5) + (22 Goods x 4) + (7 Satisfactorys x 3) + (2 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 118 Ratings = 4.644

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.733 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Bankhouse Care Home is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.9

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 54 registered maximum number of service users is 10.8. 9 Positive Reviews ÷ 10.8 = 0.833

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
