Valley View Care Home is set in a picturesque Welsh valley backdrop while being just a short walk from Hengoed centre, offering shops and other amenities.

The home provides residential care for people who need daily support, people living with dementia, nursing care for people with complex medical needs as well as respite care to give loves ones a break.

Staff provides excellent and professional care while being dedicated to fostering a sense of home and belonging, taking their time to get to know each individual resident to understand their needs and wishes.

The home is bustling with activity so residents can get the most out of every day, including bingo, day trips out and visits from entertainers, the local church and the local school.

My mother has been at Valley View Care Home for over a year now and she is very settled and contented and feels that the care she receives to be of an excellent standard. In my opinion, the home is well-managed, cleanliness is of a high standard and the staff are always kind and helpful. If there is
a medical problem, issues are always reported to the correct department and referrals are made and next of kin are made aware. Overall, I am very impressed with the overall standard of the home.

My mother has been a resident at Valley View for nearly two years and she is very well cared for by all the staff. I have always found the staff are very kind and helpful to both my mother and myself. Covid has made everything particularly difficult but the staff do everything possible to ensure my
mother’s needs are catered for and I am extremely grateful to them all.

My mother has been a resident here since September 2018, she took a while to settle in but once she did, she loved this home - always laughing and smiling. She passed away at the end of June, unfortunately, even though it was expected. The staff in the dementia unit are the best anyone could ever hope
for. They looked after Mum with so much care and compassion I'm in debt to them forevermore. Please thank all the staff, especially the member of staff who did video calls throughout lockdown and even a surprise one on Christmas day. Mum was truly loved by all the staff and made her last few years very pleasurable. Thank you Valley View Care Home. If you're thinking of looking for a care home for a loved one, this should be at the top of your list.

My mother passed away on 20th January and I wanted it to be noted how wonderful the staff at Valley View were in the run-up to this during and after. They were extremely supportive, kind and led us quietly and lovingly through this process. My Mam was in Valley View for a year and the staff have been
wonderful throughout her stay. Well managed, well organised with the patient, not profit being the focus. I live abroad and I was able to continue with my life knowing my Mam was in excellent hands.

I find the care home excellent and my mother well cared for. They also support me when I'm down. Staff are like extended family, from care worker to administrator, always there to chat if needs be. I am able to rest when I'm not at the home, knowing Mam's care is well looked after. They always keep
me updated with her health and well being.

My mum gets the best care possible. All staff are friendly and approachable. My mum has been very ill on two occasions and staff sat with her encouraging her to eat and drink. Without this dedication, I truly believe that Mum would have passed away. The girls are always cheerful and treat all residents
with care and respect. For this, I am extremely grateful.

We were faced with the heartache of both our parents having to go into long-term EMI care. I viewed a number of care homes and my first impressions of Valley View was that they were welcoming and friendly. It had a nice feel and without anything else to go on, made the decision that this was to be our
parents home. Since then, I have not been disappointed.
I cannot recommend the staff highly enough from the care home manager, the Ward Leader, the carers, the domestic and catering staff and the handymen - all of whom greet you with a smile and are willing to do whatever is needed to help.
I have been impressed with the genuine care displayed by the carers - young and old (wouldn't like to say!). I have been kept informed of changes in medication, updates from doctor reviews, changes in eating habits and also how they have settled and interacted with others. I truly believe that my parents are being cared for in a way that is in their best interests.

I find Valley View a lovely place since new management has come in and new nurses. I can see that staff do look after the residents well. I do think that it would be nice if building rooms and toilets could be updated/modernised to make it look more of a bright welcoming place.

When we viewed Valley View Care Home looking for a care home for my 93 year old mother we received a warm welcome from the manager. She gave us good honest advice and recommended that we look around other homes before making our final decision. Our initial thoughts were that the home was clean light
airy and the staff are pleasant. My mother has been a resident at Valley View for three months now and has settled very well. Although she still needs nursing care her health has improved. She responds to the friendliness of the girls and always tells us how kind the staff are. She has put on 10 kilos in weight which is an indication that the food is good! We are always made welcome by the staff and manager alike. We also appreciate the good communication from staff, nurses updating us on any changes in my mothers well being. Thank you to everyone at Valley View.

The care for my husband has been very good. I could not ask for better, the atmosphere of the home is relaxed and happy. All the staff caring, from domestics up.
The cooking is excellent. I would choose to come here myself if ever the need arose.

My Nan moved into Valley View 6 weeks ago after spending time in a hospital. I would like to say that in the time my Nan has been here, she has been cared for and looked after really well, like all the other people living here. The home gets my vote and I would highly recommend it to anyone.

Valley View is a beautiful care home, surrounded by lush green scenery and impressive mountain views. The home is comfortable, clean and homely, and the staff strive to offer the best care possible. Valley View is very relationship focused and relatives are always welcome. I am particularly proud of our activities and wellbeing programme, as ensuring residents feel happy and content brings me immense joy. My favourite thing about Valley View is the residents, they are the heart of the home and my team and I are passionate about providing high-quality support and care to ensure each resident feels listened to, relaxed and included.
