During my mothers stay, the staff - managers, nurses, carers, all staff, have made mams transition into care as easy as possible. There have been some times when the staff have shown compassion, care and patience above and beyond. Thank you.

It is about 18 months since my sister came to Parklands, very infirm and quite miserable, non-cooperative. Since then she has, with encouragement, physically and mentall much improved and enjoys the activities etc. provided. I must congraulate the excursions organised and the effort made to make very
often. Thank to for this.

Someone should answer buzzer to see if alright, could be an emergency like a fall.
Realise difficulty with staff shortage.

This historic concern has been addressed with the Resident concern and reassurance given that measures have been put in place. Parklands is in the process of acquiring a call bell management system which will allow the identification of trends and concerns on the system use and response times. All colleagues are regularly reminded of our call bell policy.

My experience of Parklands has been positive. I've found staff to be pleasant and helpful and the facilities of the home suitable for the comfort of residents.
With regard to "activities" and "value for money". I am not able to comment.
Generally, the Parklands home appears to offer a good service.

Very welcoming and helpful. Clean and fresh. The staff have a good personal relationship with Mum. Management are also very helpful and polite in all situations. I would recommend this care home.

I visit my auntie regularly and have always found the staff extremely helpful.
They always try to involve my auntie with activities although she is not able with her condition.
The food looks presentable. Her room is lovely. All good.

I am trying to adapt to my new surroundings as there is no place like home. I have found the transition difficult. All the staff are very caring and do their utmost to cater for my needs. I am finding difficulty in sleeping. I enjoy the food most of the time. It would be nice to have a resident who
had the same mental capacity as myself so that I can converse with.

There is now a good management team at Parklands.
The residents seem a lot happier and take part in the activities, enjoying themselves singing and joining in with everything.
It's nice to know if you have a problem, in my case my wife, don't be afraid, speak to the home manager or nurse.
My wife
has been ill 17 years on her next birthday and I'm glad to say my sons and family know my wife is well looked after at Parklands.

I find the staff really caring and understanding to everyone's needs, they are always smiling and seem to really enjoy the work they do for the elderly. The management are really easy to talk to and you don't feel that nothing is too much for them. I have seen a vast change in my Mother-in-law, she

Our mother had been a resident at Parklands for approximately 18 months during 2015 - 2017. Throughout her stay, she was treated with respect, kindness and in a dignified manner. The staff soon became aware of her likes, dislikes etc and tailored her care to match her needs. Well done!


The building

fabric (rooms, common areas, toilets etc) are very well maintained, decorated and safe, together with the garden provided a comfortable environment for both residents and staff. Entertainment was varied and the staff worked hard. Food good. Whilst our mother's care was excellent, this was as a result of the dedication of the staff. It was very evident that more staff are required.

Introducing Alison Durbidge
Home Manager at Parklands Care Home, Caerphilly


What does kindness mean to you?


“Kindness comes from the heart and it’s about being open and honest with Residents, relatives and members of the team.”


Alison has gained more than 25 years of experience in providing care and support for older people to enrich their lives. She is a knowledgeable and dedicated leader who is passionate about delivering the highest possible standards in care and quality of life for Residents.


Having worked at HC-One for a number of years before moving over to Parklands, Alison shares that HC-One’s vision is aiming to provide the kindest care for each and every Resident. She uses her experience to motivate her team to deliver care and support in a way that Residents gain the most benefit, in a warm and welcoming home.


She also works hard to arrange events and activities with nearby organisations and is always quick to welcome the local community into Parklands.


When asked what she enjoys most about her role, Alison said: “Spending time with Residents and listening to their views and any feedback they would like to share.”


Outside of work, Alison enjoys holidays abroad, speaking French and spending time with her family and friends.
