We are so happy we found Parklands! Couldn't wish for a better home for my sister - the staff are amazing, truly lovely people and the building/rooms are very pleasant and make for a really homely feel. Thank you Parklands!

On behalf of my mother, we are very impressed with the standard of care and attention that mum has given. The staff are very accommodating and sympathetic to my mother's need. The cleanliness and comfort of the home is excellent. The activities provided for the residents is of a high standard enabling
the residents to socialise and become proactive. The hairdresser that attends the home on a weekly basis is excellent and the residents look forward to seeing her and having her hair done.

Having moved our mother from an excellent residential home, I don't think a nursing home would ever match up to the kindness, quality and care which we have now found here at Parklands Care Centre. The food is excellent, the whole establishment is clean without feeling sterile- a real home feeling.
Nothing is a problem for any of the friendly, professional staff looking after the residents. I can go home with the knowledge my mother is in a safe and comfortable environment.

My husband initially stayed at Parklands Care Centre for occasional weeks while I had some respite and was so pleased with the care he received that when the time came for him to be cared for permanently in a care home, there were no other care homes that I would have wanted him to go to. Because I
visit practically every day I can see how very caring and kind all the staff are. I am very pleased that every weekday afternoon there are activities in which the residents that are able can participate in order to keep them motivated. It's a joy to see the smiles on their faces when they join in the keep fit, quizzes, concerts and bingo etc and I am made welcome and able to join in as well. The home and the rooms are always clean and tidy. The food is absolutely fabulous even though my husband is on pureed food. It's always very tasty I can go home and have peace of mind that he is being looked after so well.

Parklands Care Centre is very homely, staff are amazing, so is management. Food is very good. Decor is really upmarket, I would highly recommend Parklands Care Centre as my dad staying is at Parklands and it ticks all the boxes for us as a family. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff. Very happy

A different system should be put in place to prevent items of clothing going missing even though they are properly labelled, individual bags should be issued. The cleaning of individuals wheelchairs should be prioritised as the presence of old food etc could become a health and safety issue. Similarly,
lounge chairs should be regularly cleaned. Bathing and showering are not taking place on a regular basis and the excuse always seems to be that the carers are always too busy. This is not acceptable.

My father in law was a resident a few years ago and now it's my mother in law. The home has improved its standards even though it was good when my father in law was here. The staff are brilliant and the home is great.

Although my father has only been here for a month the staff have been very good at making him feel comfortable and at ease. The standard of care is excellent and it is a comfort to know that he is being well cared for and well fed. As my father is blind he cannot participate in the activities on offer
but I have noticed other residents really get involved.

My ex-father in law has been at 'Parklands Care Centre' for almost 6 years. My ex-wife and I have never had any problems the way he has been looked after and never any problems with carers. His room is always clean and tidy.

Introducing Alison Durbidge
Home Manager at Parklands Care Home, Caerphilly


What does kindness mean to you?


“Kindness comes from the heart and it’s about being open and honest with Residents, relatives and members of the team.”


Alison has gained more than 25 years of experience in providing care and support for older people to enrich their lives. She is a knowledgeable and dedicated leader who is passionate about delivering the highest possible standards in care and quality of life for Residents.


Having worked at HC-One for a number of years before moving over to Parklands, Alison shares that HC-One’s vision is aiming to provide the kindest care for each and every Resident. She uses her experience to motivate her team to deliver care and support in a way that Residents gain the most benefit, in a warm and welcoming home.


She also works hard to arrange events and activities with nearby organisations and is always quick to welcome the local community into Parklands.


When asked what she enjoys most about her role, Alison said: “Spending time with Residents and listening to their views and any feedback they would like to share.”


Outside of work, Alison enjoys holidays abroad, speaking French and spending time with her family and friends.
