Really pleased with the care and staff who were very helpful, kind and caring. The home is undergoing refurbishment and is looking great. I feel my partner was well looked after during his time there. I would recommend Caerleon House Nursing Home to others and I am grateful for the support and care
we received.

Reply from Shirley Ruane, Home Manager at Caerleon House Nursing Home

Thank you for your lovely comments Catherine. We are glad with the care and service that the team at Caerleon House Nursing Home have been able to provide.
As you might be aware that under the new ownership since November 2020, the home’s focus has been on not only carrying out an extensive renovation program but also, and most importantly, was on addressing the residents' needs by providing a holistic approach where residents are encouraged to be as independent as possible and naturally supported when required.
No sooner the takeover, the care sector over the past two years plus has gone through challenges, like never seen before! What makes it all worthwhile in such unprecedented times is exactly what you have done. So, thank you from us for your warm words of encouragement and the positive feedback!

Our father was resident for the last two years of his life - we were extremely impressed with the management by the Matron and her nursing colleagues. Not only were the nurses excellent at managing very challenging behaviour in a humane and compassionate way, but they always supported the carers to
work as a team, especially in crises, as well as keeping us informed. Dad's individual care needs were met, monitored and adapted throughout his stay. In addition to the qualities stated above the Matron's attention to detail, her hands on approach and 'finger on the pulse' were key in being so effective.
Our experience was that the nursing staff went the extra mile to think through his individual needs and called on external expertise at every stage to check if any extra support would help. All the staff were always professional, respectful, kind, warm, welcoming and caring even when they were very busy - this was the ethos emanating from the nurse manager. Many of the residents have complex needs and staff are always busy.
Although Dad wasn't able to participate in group activities, efforts were made to give him one-to-one attention which he appreciated.
We have been involved with a number of nursing homes over the past six years and have learnt not to judge the quality of a home on facilities such as en-suite bathrooms, style of decor (carpets and soft furnishings) - what is important is the quality of the care which is determined by the experience, integrity, ability and professionalism of the nurse manager and her team. As well as these features, the ability to retain experienced mature carers and to recruit and nurture newer carers was crucial in Dad's care. No agency staff were employed which again, was crucial for continuity in the high-quality care. We will always be very grateful for the support we received at this difficult time and the excellent end of life care our father received.
