In a semi-rural location on the outskirts of Welshpool, the Rhallt provides both nursing and dementia nursing care. It is close to local amenities and within easy reach of Shrewsbury, Oswestry and Newtown. Yet a few miles up the road is the beautiful Welsh countryside.

They provide 24-hour nursing and respite care alongside expert care for people with dementia, including in their Memory Lane Community. They also provide care for those with a range of nursing needs.

A team of highly-qualified and dedicated staff really focuses on the individual needs of residents with a tailored care plan for each person. This dedication can be seen throughout the home in cooking, hospitality and organising activities for residents.

We were looking for some respite care for my dad after undergoing a triple heart bypass! From start to finish, the service and care was impeccable. We were offered an available room within days of requesting one, which was beautiful and clean. Excellent support was offered in terms of liaising between
the hospital and aftercare. All the staff were both professional and kind; he wanted for nothing throughout his stay! My dad said the support whilst at the home was warm and caring and overall very impressive!! Thanks very much to everyone who cared for my dad!

My husband is staying in The Rhallt temporarily until Powys Social Services can replace his home care package. He was brought here at very short notice and the home has picked up the pieces of our crisis and facilitated a safe, secure and kind environment until he can get home. All the staff; carers,
nurses and administrators have been amazing in their welcome and support for us both. They have made great efforts to understand his needs and to make him comfortable and are working with him to improve his mobility and enjoyment of life. When he has been unwell they have been quick to contact our own GP and maintain continuity in his medical care. The staff are all kind, considerate and go the extra mile to help.

Everyone was so friendly, kind and caring. Everyone made you feel very welcome and nothing was too much trouble. The communication was excellent. Every time we visited, the atmosphere was always the same; calm, homely and relaxing. It was nice for my Dad and the family that he spent his final weeks

My husband has been at The Rhallt care home for nearly five years. The care he has been given since day one has been excellent. The staff are all caring people, from the top to the bottom, through all grades. Although I have lost my husband to dementia, we have gained a new family at The Rhallt. All
through the pandemic, when I could not visit, they kept in touch with me and updated me on what was going on there. It's a happy home for all residents.

Mam has a lovely room overlooking the gardens where residents can go and sit out, weather permitting. All staff, from nurses to recreation are very caring and helpful. She can't really participate in activities but staff pop into her room and have a chat and some speak Welsh, which she really likes.
They always have a smile on their faces and call her by her first name, which is nice.

On my visits, I have found the staff efficient, professional and very friendly. When phoning, they make it so easy to book times etc. During these difficult Covid times they have coped very well. The rooms are beautifully clean and the outlook across the gardens is pleasant. I particularly enjoy seeing
the photos on the social media page. It helps to know about all the interesting activities organised. Thank you, everyone.

After Dad was taken into a care home we were very upset and worried. We did not get to see him a lot because of covid-19, but all staff have been great. From reception to the events team to carers and all the staff. He seems very content. In a difficult situation, everyone always has a smile and calls

The Rhallt nursing home is a very family-oriented home and the staff have been so caring to my mother and myself. The staff are very hardworking and supportive, the activities staff do try and interact with residents, which is lovely to see. For our family situation, it is still very early days and
it has been a challenging journey but I have always been guided and well supported by management, nurses, carers, reception and other staff too. I can recommend The Rhallt nursing home.

My father hasn't been in the home long, but I have seen a difference in him since he has been here. He's always in clean clothes and is being looked after well. He's washed and shaved. The staff are very friendly.

I visit the home twice a week to see my wife. At all times, I find her nicely washed and in clean clothes. In fact, she looks very nice. The staff I am in contact with are always very helpful, polite and human, which is great. Thank you all.

Ingrid Simkin

Ingrid has been at the Rhallt since January 2023. She qualified as a Registered General Nurse in 2006 and as a Specialist District Nurse in 2014. Having worked in the NHS for 18 years, Ingrid completed her MBA in 2019 and moved into the private sector. Ingrid previously worked at the Rhallt as Deputy Manager and when the General Manager position arose she was keen to return and work with the wonderful team at the Rhallt.

Amy Talbot

Amy started at the Rhallt in June 2023. At her previous home, Amy headed up a newly commissioned Dementia Unit and has a passion for both Dementia and General Care. With a background in both administration and care, Amy inspires the care team to drive quality and ensure our residents are cared for and living their best lives.

Nicola, a dedicated Registered General Nurse, has been with The Rhallt for six years. Her extensive experience across diverse care settings makes her an invaluable source of knowledge and support on the floor.

Jo Marriott

Jo is a Registered Mental Health Nurse who works on the Breidden Unit, our Dementia Floor. Jo has worked at the Rhallt for over 10 years and gives us an invaluable perspective into the management of Dementia and other mental health-related conditions. Jo is hugely passionate about the equity of care and is leading the development of complementary therapy within the home.

Karen Mann

Job Title: Team Leader

Joined: 2004

Karen leads the care team at Breidden, our Dementia Unit. She has worked at the Rhallt for 20 years and is an award-winning team leader, having scooped the award for ‘Changing the lives of those we care for’ at the Lovett Annual Care Awards in 2023. Karen is our Dementia Champion and is a real advocate for our residents.

Keisha Wragg

Job Title: Senior Carer

Joined: 2024

Keisha has recently transferred from an Activities Coordinator role to a Senior Carer role, having been a Carer previously at The Rhallt. She is very popular with our residents and takes pride in going the extra mile no matter what task she takes on.

Lynne is a Registered General Nurse who has worked at the Rhallt on Breidden Unit for over 10 years. Having worked in a variety of settings during her career, Lynne is a wealth of knowledge on the floor.

Sadie and Cristina are both Registered General Nurses. Between them, they have over 40 years of service at the Rhallt and are passionate about outstanding patient care in Castell Coch, our General Nursing Unit.
