Airthrey Care Nursing Home is a purpose-built care home located in Airth, close to Falkirk and Stirling.

With a team of professional and experienced registered nurses and care workers, the home provides personalised nursing care for older people, and those with dementia and other health conditions, in a homely environment.

As well as the caring team at the home, residents also benefit from access to external healthcare professionals, including GPs, Occupational & Physiotherapists, Speech & Language Therapists, Podiatrists, Specialist Nursing Services and Community Mental Health Teams. This ensures every aspect of their care is catered for. All team members follow infection control procedures at all times.

Airthrey Care Home's dedicated Activities Team offer residents a varied programme of activities that can be tailored to suit individual needs. Residents are supported and encouraged to socialise and continue their hobbies, making the most of life at the home as well as keeping connected with the local community. The home also has a trishaw that enables residents to go for assisted cycle rides.

The home offers 52 fully furnished ensuite bedrooms, and uses assistive technology to ensure the safety, well-being and mobility of residents, empowering them to be an independent as possible.

There are also four spacious lounge and dining areas where residents can choose to enjoy professionally prepared meals, as well as dedicated quiet areas within the home where residents can choose to relax, and secure landscaped gardens. Residents also have access to a hairdressing and beauty salon where they can enjoy some TLC.

My mum was a resident for four years until she died in September. In all that time, the staff at the home were excellent. Nothing was ever too much trouble. It was like my mum was staying in a 5-star hotel.


Would personally like to thank the staff for the personal service, could not have been treated/cared

for better.

My mother has been in this care home for 3 years. I would highly recommend this home for care, dignity, staff are excellent and a well-run home in all aspects of care. Staff very friendly and nothing is a problem to help my mother. I wish them every success in the future of the home.

Our experience is that Airthrey Care Nursing Home requires more staff with life skill(s) within the carer remit as we feel and observed that although they are lovely individuals, they lack the knowledge to be able to provide the appropriate care and support for dementia residents.
There is a huge difference
when the care support is more mature and experienced.

To provide reassurance, I can confirm that staff in the home have undergone a robust recruitment process and we do focus on life skills, experience and attitude and diversity for all roles. Staff training in dementia care is paramount and we also have a dementia champion within the home and work in line with Scotland’s Dementia Strategy and framework. Airthrey has recently been undertaking an Excellence project which involves Dementia care and has been involving the community in this – we would be delighted if you would like to join us in this venture.

I feel I am well looked after but as my mobility is very limited due to recovering from a broken hip earlier this year, I find my room difficult to move about in as the space is small and I use a zimmer. This makes it awkward to access the bathroom from my bed and the chair needs to be moved to the
side. I am prone to falls and this is a concern as my eyesight is also bad.

Airthrey Care Nursing Home has a welcoming atmosphere and is clean
and fresh. Being all on one level means there is easy access to both residents and relatives, and into the lovely enclosed central garden. Staff on both day and night duty are kind, caring and cheerful. Regular relatives meetings are
held by the management team to keep us updated on home matters and staff changes and give us a chance to air any concerns. One of the great aspects of the home is the open door policy for relatives apart from meal times, I can visit my mum at any time of the day or night. The staff have nothing to hide they work at their best level all the time.

My mother has now been a resident in Airthrey for just over a year and I cannot praise the manager and staff highly enough. The accommodation is second to none, bright, welcoming and always spotlessly clean and the residents are treated with respect and dignity at all times by every member of staff.
Residents' family are considered as partners in care and are included in decision making and care planning for their family members.

Job Title: Care Home Manager

We are passionate about the care and well-being of residents at Airthrey. I aim to ensure that every resident in our home feels happy and secure while they are with us.


Our home is a focal point in the local community and we are known for our excellent standard of care. We regularly engage in community initiatives to help bring more awareness to the work we do and make our residents feel at home.


Our aim is for residents to feel like they are a part of the Airth community and we encourage participation in local events and activities whenever possible.


We have a cycle trishaw – a special bike designed to carry two passengers – which allows us to take our residents out and about for a ride around the local area. This is a hugely social experience and our neighbours are now used to seeing us wheeling around Airth!


Our private garden area serves as an ideal space for relaxation and group activities. We also offer generously proportioned bedrooms with full en-suite shower facilities.


Appointments are not required for those interested in touring the home and our staff would be more than happy to assist with any queries.
