My Mum was admitted to the dementia unit of this care home 10 months ago. She settled in well and I felt confident in the staff's ability to look after her. She is well cared for and treated with kindness and dignity. Staff keep me fully informed of any changes or concerns related to her health and
wellbeing and involve me in decision making with her care. I find staff helpful and considerate when I visit with my Father and there is always a welcoming smile for us. The care home is well run and managed and my Mum's room is always clean and fresh. I am very happy with the care she receives at Thorntree Mews.

My mum has been in Thorntree Mews for 2 1/2 years now. During this time I have had no reason to complain or question my mum's care. Any queries I have are dealt with promptly and professionally and I am kept fully informed by the staff re mum's care. My mum is always treated with respect and dignity
by the staff and this is extended to her immediate family. I find all the staff in the care home very helpful, pleasant and always cheery. A look in the lounge area shows that all the residents are spotlessly clean and cared for and treated with respect and dignity. I would have no hesitation in recommending Thorntree Mews (in fact I may put my name down for the future)

My mother has been in Thorntree Mews for 20months, I am very happy with the care provided, I visit every day at some point.
In February this year, my mother suffered a severe stroke and was prepared for end of life care, however, with constant care and attention my mother has again made a remarkable
recovery. The staff ensure my mother is comfortable at all times, clean and her room kept tidy, clothes washed, ironed and put away daily.
The nursing home surroundings, sitting room, dining room and kitchen are always well maintained.
Staff are welcoming, pleasant and easy to talk to. I have no hesitation speaking to the manager or staff if I have any issues. Nursing staff constantly keep me updated on my mum's health issues.

My mum has been a resident since April this year and has settled in very well. All the staff have been extremely kind and made a great effort to get to know mum and what makes her happy and content. Staff are always on hand to offer support and advice and all the family feel more at ease knowing mum
is receiving the best care possible. The entire facility is always spotlessly clean and smells fresh, as does my mums bedroom. The menu is varied and although mum has many challenges, staff have always managed to keep her diet varied and nutritious. The residents lounge is always very welcoming, however during this festive period the "Christmassy" feel has been exceptional. I would have no hesitation in recommending this care home and staff.

My father is well looked after and has fitted in very well. Enjoys the food and has actually gained weight since coming in here. Also his mobility has improved considerably. Very friendly home and staff - residents are very nice. Have nothing negative to say - made the right choice for my dad.

My father has been in this home since January 2015. During this time he has been treated with care, dignity and compassion. His eyesight is very poor so suffers from hallucination (Charles Bonnet Syndrome). This has challenged the carers and management but they have coped with it well. They keep us
informed of any changes, falls etc. so communication with us is excellent.

Current Review Score: 8.9 (8.875)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.9 (8.875) out of 10 for Thorntree Mews is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 4 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.9 out of 5 from 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 5.000 for Thorntree Mews is calculated as follows: ( (46 Excellents x 5) ) ÷ 46 Ratings = 5

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 3.875 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Thorntree Mews is based on 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.375

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 40 registered maximum number of service users is 8. 4 Positive Reviews ÷ 8 = 0.5

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
