This was a very special Christmas. The care home was so welcoming, festive, well staffed and took such care to make every visitor feel at home and included. They even prepared a special private supper for Aunty and family when she became tired and wished to return to her room with the family. My aunt
has always been a part of my family’s Christmas experience and the care home was so accommodating of us. This is not surprising as they are very respectful of residents' needs and wishes and have high standards of care.

Whilst there have been slight bumps in the road these have been ironed out. I am glad I picked this care home for the individual I am responsible for. She has had many extra years of life that I'm sure she would not had have if not for this care home.

Since my mother moved into Bo'ness Care Home she has received nothing but kindness, care and attention. The staff have always demonstrated a totally caring approach and management has unfailingly kept me informed of my mother's situation. You would find it difficult to locate a more dedicated team.
Excellent!

Since our first contact with Bo'ness Care Home, our experience has been positive and reassuring. The help provided by the manager and staff has been outstanding. Having had a good knowledge of the home from my mum ten years there, I feel I'm able to comment with some experience as a relative.
Prior
to the build-up to my aunt being accepted in the home, her experience was pretty traumatic. Likewise, our dealings with the hospital and social services were difficult. This was immediately dissipated by my aunt's admission to the Bo'ness Care Home.

As a family, we have been very pleased with the exceptional care and kindness demonstrated at your home across all the team during the six months our father spent with you, the care and compassion shown by all staff during his final days were exceptional.

We are very aware of the incredible hard

work and challenges that you all face day-to-day and always tackle with a cheery face.

We wanted to show our heartfelt thanks to you all directly and to reaffirm what an amazing difference you make to people’s lives, not only to your residents but also their immediate family who are comforted to know that they are in the best place.

I hated the idea of my dad going into care but at 94, stone deaf and recently widowed, he could no longer stay at home. Bo'ness Care Home was the obvious choice because it was a local option but also because the management team during my initial visits impressed me. They knew the business without being
business-like.
My dad was not an easy resident. His deafness made him difficult and his loss of independence frustrated him, but the level of care, compassion and understanding he received allowed him to adapt to his new home and maintain some control over his life.
In the end, after exactly a year in Bo'ness Care Home, my dad developed a chest infection and, over the course of a week, he died. His last few days of life were peaceful, pain-free and managed with the utmost professionalism. He was always a private man. This was respected unto death. Bo'ness Care Home had become his world, while still allowing him to be himself. It was his last act of self-determination that he slipped away while no-one was looking.

It took my mum a few days to settle but is now happy and has friends. She sits with the same 2 woman and I take mums dog in regularly, which puts a smile on all their

This is a great care home. Mum spent the last few months of her life here. My brother and I visited around 10 in the Falkirk area and Bo'ness was the best. Just look at the Care Inspectorate reports. This home is well run from the top down. I got the impression that all the staff worked well as a team.
There is good communication at every level and staff are very approachable and friendly. We worried about mum going into care because she had several strokes with very little speech. The nurses responded quickly to any problem and were in touch immediately. The staff were friendly and we were always made welcome, often with tea and biscuits. The menu is varied and mum put on weight. There is a good activity program and although my mum could not join in, when we dropped in a member of staff would often be sitting beside her or helping her to play Bingo or Dominoes. The rooms were clean and my mum had a new profile bed. We thank all the staff for the respect and dignity shown to mum.

Dad is not really able to take part in a lot but he's always included and helped. He has a choice of being in his room with his TV and is never forced to so something he doesn't want to. He was recently very ill and the support he received was exemplary as was the support given to us as a family.

Current Review Score: 8.4 (8.444)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.4 (8.444) out of 10 for Bo'ness Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 3 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.8 out of 5 from 3 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.694 for Bo'ness Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (25 Excellents x 5) + (11 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 36 Ratings = 4.694

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 3.75 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Bo'ness Care Home is based on 3 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.25

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 30 registered maximum number of service users is 6. 3 Positive Reviews ÷ 6 = 0.5

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
