My Mum was in KM, for a number of years. Recently, she was taken very unwell and sadly passed away at KM.
Through her years at KM, we found the staff to be very helpful and caring. We did not always agree, with staff on all aspects of my Mum's care, but there was always time for discussions around
the best care option to take and we were always able to come to a mutually agreeable solution.
During Covid, it was very difficult to see our Mum, and although the staff were very restricted at times to setting procedures, as were all care homes, I do not doubt they gave her the best care, under very difficult
circumstances.
All of the staff were very supportive, helpful, and caring when she passed away, making an awful time, a little bit better, and for that, we Thank them very much.
For my Mum KM was a comfortable, caring, and supportive place to stay with good activities and importantly to her, good food.
KM provides a good level of care and I would not hesitate to place my relative there.

I'm really happy with my dad being here. Everyone is lovely and my dad seems happy and really settled. All the staff are lovely and friendly. The home is very well-run and clean. I've not had any issues or problems. I hope my dad can stay here.

Very disappointed in the poor management and lack of stimulation at Kinnaird Manor.
My dad was assessed (by HC-1) and they were given a crystal clear picture of his behaviours.
The manager asked the family, by telephone, to decide which area we would prefer. This should have been a management decision
based on needs, not a family decision.
He was admitted to medium dependency and within 2 weeks, we were told of a number of issues and they wanted him moved him to high dependency.
At the routine 6 week assessment (brought forward at their request to week 5) with two members of staff, we were advised that they couldn’t manage him and we would need to look for another care home.
At no point did the care home manager show her face, or introduce herself, even though her decision-making, or lack thereof, had caused this situation. Her poor management had caused my dad to have two unnecessary care home moves, created additional stress and trauma to my dad and my mum.

Thank you for taking the time to leave us your feedback. I am very sorry that you feel the Manager and her team were not supportive during your father's assessment period at Kinnaird Manor. My mother-in-law was admitted to Kinnaird Manor for emergency respite care as she has dementia and her husband had been taken into hospital, meaning that she could not be left alone. The home made the process really easy, with a comprehensive assessment done at home to establish the care needs prior
to admission. Once there, the staff did everything possible to help her settle into an unfamiliar and probably daunting new situation. As a family, we can't thank the staff enough for the care she was given in a difficult time for us all. When looking for longer-term care, we had no hesitation in choosing the sister home at The Village in Cumbernauld as it is the same company and on moving there today, we experienced the same welcoming attitude from the staff. Overall, we would recommend Kinnaird Manor to anyone seeking short-term or longer-term care.

The management and staff at Kinnaird Manor Care Home have been amazing from start to finish. They welcomed my gran with open arms and supported the whole family at all times, day or night throughout my grans stay. The dignity and compassion shown at the end of grans life really made a difficult time
one of solace, peace and closure. As a family, we cannot thank the whole team enough and express how impressed we have been from start to finish. The whole team deserve the utmost recognition in all areas.

Mum came to Kinnaird Manor on the 25th of September after a traumatic time in hospital. The manager and her staff have worked hard to make Mum settled at Kinnaird Manor. Mum is finally settled in and getting to know all of the staff's faces. Very happy we chose Kinnaird Manor.

Due to critical staffing issues, the level of care and support fell well below acceptable levels. Staff leaving all the time and not being replaced is an indication that this care home is not capable of retaining or attracting staff and the flow on from this is that residents do not receive the necessary
care they truly need. My father has passed away after the staff neglected to take an illness seriously (even though they were aware of an outbreak of flu) and I do hope other families do not have to experience this outrageous lack of care towards their family members. The owners and management of this home need to take a long, hard look at the levels of care being provided, or should I say not being provided to those most in need, Shameful!

Reply from Diane Kerwin, Hospital Liaison Team Administrator at Kinnaird Manor Care Home

May I take this opportunity to again express my condolences on the loss of your father and I am very sorry that you were unhappy with the care the service provided to your family. This has been fully investigated and I can reassure you that the home was following advice from Public Health and the Advanced Nurse Practitioners at the time of the outbreak. The concerns surrounding the care the nurse provided on the day your father was taken to hospital were discussed with the nurse at the time of the original complaint. The nurse apologises for any upset, but we would like to reiterate that your father was referred to the GP when his condition deteriorated.

My mother is very happy and contented at this home. She has company all the time, which she missed being in her home on her own. This home takes very good care of my mum for which we are very grateful for. She seems more brighter and more cheery when we come to see her than when she was in her own home.

I feel this place needs to up its game, it needs a good clean and the decor is shabby. Not much in the way of activities going on. People just sat about in sitting rooms with not much to stimulate them! I felt I had to keep asking staff to do things to help my husband when they should have been on top
of his needs medically. This was an awful experience for our family and I was not happy with the level of care received here and would not recommend it to anyone.

If your looking for a home for your loved one, I would highly recommend Kinaird Manor. My father was in the mariner area and the staff were excellent, night and day shift. As my dad was reaching the end of his life I was so well supported by all staff.
So respectful, thoughtful, kind, helpful and professional
in providing his medication.
They all showed so much love and friendship to my dad for his short visit.
Our family are so grateful to the staff for the considerate care they provide.

This is a care home where the emphasis is on 'care' and 'home' The staff treat my wife as though she is a member of a large family and nothing is ever too much trouble for them, including hugs, singing, and even a little dance.

The care is first class, both medically and cosmetic. My wife's hair

is always immaculate, nails well manicured and her clothing is clean and well-matched. She also takes advantage of the services of a visiting chiropodist, the same one she attended before entering full-time care!

I really can't praise the staff enough for the care and attention lavished upon my wife. She loves her room and the facilities of Kinnaird and when I, as a twice-weekly visitor, enter the building the warmth and general well-being of all is instantly apparent. Long may it continue.

I called in this week and my mother is
fabulous looks happy and healthy.
It’s a massive thank you to all the staff for taking the worry away about looking after my mother.

The nursing staff are wonderful - my mum was moved from hospital to a respite bed and the unit was not ideal for my mum (not the fault of the care home) but the nurses have been so professional and caring in helping manage both Mum and me (as Mum's carer) in terms of coping with all the uncertainty
as to when she could move back to her own home. Thank you to all the staff but especially two members in particular.

My mum was very distressed leaving her old care home. From the moment she arrived at Kinnaird Manor, she was made to feel welcome and shown her new room. She actually settled in remarkably quickly and is happy and comfortable in Kinnaird. The difference in the care and support that she has received
since her arrival is remarkable. She enjoys the food and the staff are so good to her. Thank you for making a very difficult situation so much better for my mum.

Kinnaird Manor Care Home is a wonderful home for my mum who has dementia. The staff are so caring and really seem to know Mum’s likes and dislikes as well as her personality. It has been so heartening to hear the staff chat about how my mum is a people person who still tries to communicate with everyone.
This is the Mum I know and it’s lovely to hear that her personality is still there and appreciated. I also really appreciate the times when we have had phone calls to let us know of any issues. This makes us feel that Mum is safe and being given the attention she needs, along with all the other residents. Any time I’ve heard members of staff talking to Mum it’s always been incredibly gentle and considerate but incorporates a great sense of humour which suits my mum to a tee! I can’t thank you enough for everything you do and the trouble you go to to look after my mum. Thank you.

Current Review Score: 8.0 (8.040)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.0 (8.040) out of 10 for Kinnaird Manor Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 3.9 out of 5 from 8 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.1 out of 5 from 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 3.914 for Kinnaird Manor Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (57 Excellents x 5) + (11 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) + (4 Poors x 2) + (18 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 93 Ratings = 3.914

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.126 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Kinnaird Manor Care Home is based on 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 = 3.6

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 57 registered maximum number of service users is 11.4. 6 Positive Reviews ÷ 11.4 = 0.526

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
