My room is very homely and I get a lot of support from the staff who are all lovely and friendly. Food is very good here and plenty of it and plenty of choices. Entertainment superb.

My father moved to Forthbank in September 2017 and we are only positive to the whole experience, from initial contact and information to how he is cared for on a daily basis. He has settled in, is content and speaks well of the staff and care he receives. We live abroad and can only visit sporadically
but can see and feel the friendly atmosphere every time we're there and see the respectful way the residents are treated. Forthbank keeps us updated, which is very positive and reassuring.
There is a wide variety of daily activities on offer to involve and stimulate the residents. We've taken part in some music entertainment and seen how much it's appreciated by everyone. We haven't been there at mealtimes but have seen the menu with a great mix and my father is very happy with the food. The home looks and smells clean and fresh, with no stale odours, which I haven't always experienced elsewhere.
Overall, this is a care home I can highly recommend.

Excellent dedicated staff. Nothing is a bother. My wife is well looked after and entertained. The manager is very approachable and is often seen with the residents asking how they are.

My husband was in for a week respite and he thoroughly enjoyed his stay. All staff were brilliant. He was clean, comfortable and enjoyed the food and felt safe. He settled very well and he would like to come back. He said that all staff were cheery and nothing seemed to be too much bother. They all
cared and spoke to him and they all had a smile which makes a big difference and a weight off my shoulders knowing he is being cared for.

Since my mother arrived at Forthbank she has been treated with the utmost care and compassion by all members of staff. Her room is cosy, with a view that interests her, and is, along with all her amenities, kept clean and hygienic. The staff are always willing to chat and have a little fun and laughter
with her. Overall, I am happy with all aspects of her care and treatment.

My aunt arrived in Forthbank Care Home in February 2017 and has been very settled there since her arrival. She is always happy and all of the staff are kind and caring towards her.


She always seems pleased and happy to see the staff. Her bedroom is always clean and tidy.


Forthbank provides regular

entertainment for the residents. My aunt is very happy here - I can tell by her eyes.

My dad was in Forthbank for a year before he passed away. When he first went in we thought he'd kick up a fuss. He didn't. The minute he went in he loved it.
He got his lunch and started to do activities which he loved. He loved all the carers and the domestic staff. They were all fantastic with Dad.
He
especially loved it if treats were going about! His room was lovely and had a nice view and was spotless.
The manager went around the home every day speaking to the residents and she always asked if they were ok or needed anything. Communication was great, I was always told everything about Dad and before he passed nothing was a bother. All staff where great.

My mother stayed in this home about 13 - 14 years ago and was very well looked after. In the last year two friends were admitted to the home and I saw for myself the great care and attention the staff gave and sometimes in dealing with some very difficult residents like one of my friends 102 year old
lady who even lashed out at the staff and shouted at them just because they were attending to her!

Forthbank is an excellent care home in my opinion, in every respect. My mother-in-law is very happy there - she has a wonderful room, the staff are extremely caring and helpful and the activities are first-class.

The room was Mum's home for almost two years. As she became less able she was cared for by a group of staff who truly 'cared'. The room itself could have been a better standard of décor, particularly the bathroom, but the staff and the manager tried to make it a great environment. Support for me and
mum during her last few weeks was exceptional.

My father entered for emergency respite when I was abroad. The staff settled him down and made him feel welcome. The room was clean, comfortable and provided well for his needs.
The lounge and dining rooms were bright and well arranged. The atmosphere of the whole place was relaxed and friendly and

My mother moved into Forthbank a year ago and settled in immediately. Her room is first class and she loves it. The staff have been exemplary ad their communication with me about any issues is very reassuring. The atmosphere at Forthbank is terrific, they have lots of activities which again my mother
thoroughly enjoys, and you can see the staff care about the residents.


I cannot thank the staff enough from the manager to the nurses to the carers. All in all, a first-class experience for both my mother and me.

Given that my father died on 15/12/16 at this home and your letter arrived on the day he was cremated I think that your interdepartmental communication could be improved to avoid such overlaps in future.


His care and the staff were excellent. Where I feel there is room for improvement is at the initial

reception when the primary responsibility for his care was passed over to you from me. I wish I had been better informed about this process. What I'm talking about is things like registering with a GP, arranging chiropody, transfer of medication and other simple straightforward day to day things that were done but without me knowing about it.
I was left to assume things had happened and felt reluctant to contact busy nursing staff about non-nursing matters, over which they do not necessarily have an overview.


When my father had his 6-week review I heard all sorts of things I had no idea about, things, that a 5-minute phone call would have cleared up. I only found out he had had a chiropodist appointment because I happened to meet the chiropodist whilst visiting Forthbank. I asked if she had seen him and then asked about the toe separator he used, but she hadn't seen it because it wasn't being used and it seemed I was the only person who knew of its existence. Not a major issue, but excellence in care is not achieved by forgetting the small things.


Before my father moved in I made the point to the house manager that in order for me to feel I was discharging my duty of care towards my father, I would need to know that his needs were being addressed and she assured me this would be the case. This didn't happen and I was left to assume they were.
You asked for my opinion and this it.


There should be one single member of staff with an overview of each new resident during their settling in period, who is the point of contact for relatives/former carers. This person should keep them informed about all the necessary arrangements as they are made and certainly on a weekly basis until such a point that it is evident that everything has been transferred and is in place, at which point the relative/carer can back off safe in the knowledge that all is well.


This is also an opportunity to prove your commitment to care and receive the praise and thanks which you deserve for the very difficult and trying job that you all do.

Communication is important to us and we strive to communicate effectively with Residents and relatives but on this occasion our timing was inappropriate and for this, we can only apologise.


We do try to ensure that one person is responsible for the admission and follow-up of Residents but due to annual leave and sickness, this can be difficult to achieve.


We take on board your comments and will review the admission process to ensure a more satisfactory experience for both Residents and relatives which includes ensuring that the small issues are addressed.

This was my first visit to the home and was pleasantly surprised at the welcoming I had.
Staff were friendly and very helpful. What struck me was how clean and fresh the whole building was/is. My friend's room was light and airy with a good view out of the window. A delight to see how well she was
being looked after.

Mum went into the care home in June for respite but alas fell and broke her hip and that along with swelling in her legs meant she was there until she died at the end of October. She always said the carers were so good to her so sensitive. The atmosphere always seemed calm and relaxing. Not sure she
realised she was in a care home. She had always said she didn't want to go into a care home she asked me what is this place I am in, I told her it was a lovely rest home and she seemed happy with that idea.

As a Registered Nurse and formerly a Care Assistant, Yvonne has gained many years’ experience in providing care and support for older people to enrich their lives. She is a knowledgeable and dedicated leader who is passionate about delivering the highest possible standards in care and quality of life for Residents.


Yvonne joined Forth Bank as Home Manager because she closely shares HC-One’s vision in aiming to provide the kindest care for each and every Resident. She uses her experience to motivate her team to deliver care and support in a way that Residents gain the most benefit, in a warm and welcoming home.


She also works hard to arrange events and activities with nearby organisations and is always quick to welcome the local community to Forth Bank.


When asked what she enjoys most about her role, Yvonne remarked: “I enjoy
knowing that I am giving 100% to the Residents of Forth Bank as it enables me to take pride in what I do.”

Outside of work, Yvonne enjoys the thrill of the racetrack, whether its horse racing or watching her own greyhound compete.
