Fleet Valley Care Home is designed to promote small group living, providing accommodation and 24-hour nursing care, with a Nurse Clinician on a daily basis, for up to 43 residents. Fleet Valley has a relaxed atmosphere, strong sense of family and close links with the local community, that ensures residents feel truly at home.

The bedrooms are of excellent quality - all have en-suite facilities, are spacious, have an attractive outlook and are decorated and furnished to a very high standard. To reflect your individual tastes, the team encourage residents to bring any articles of furniture, framed pictures and photographs to truly personalise their space.

The home has a team of staff who have an intuitive understanding of Fleet Valley’s tradition of care, hospitality and service and residents are entrusted to them, certain that they practice these old-fashioned values in relaxing comfort.

Our sister was a resident of Fleet Valley Carehome from 2021 - 2023. Throughout that time she was well cared for by all the staff. One of them bought her a soft toy Corgi dog which she loved and had it with her until she died. Also in the last week, one of the junior staff gave her another soft puppy
dog. So kind and thoughtful of them. The staff kept our family up to date with all matters concerning our sister throughout those 2 years which covered the covid pandemic. My sister, my daughter and myself were allowed to stay over those last days of her life which meant so much to us. A very difficult time but also a very special time we all shared together. The staff were amazing so supportive and compassionate towards us all. We feel they could not have done any more for my sister or for us as a family.

My mother enjoyed just over 2 months at Fleet Valley Care before she died. In that short time she settled there very well, telling us she was happy in her new 'home', enjoyed the food and loved the staff. Indeed, it was so lovely for us to witness how she interacted with the staff so positively during
our visits. Indeed, the staff were marvellous: kind, warm, attentive and always very professional. We were kept notified by phone immediately every time there was any cause for concern. My wife and I cannot praise the staff enough. We felt ourselves very fortunate that my mother was offered a place at Fleet Valley where she received the best of care. I have to add that on our visits we felt we too were being looked after by the staff we met. Heartfelt thanks to you all.

The manager is in La La land if she thinks some of her staff can administer eye solutions. My partner was given the wrong eye drops. As proven because she said I should have 17 of one kind and 5 of another to take home. No, I have 22 of one kind only five of them were put into the wrong box. I was left
without one kind to give him today. More work for me as his carer to get a prescription.
Still, in LaLa land she thinks some of her staff are ‘ trained and experienced’ in giving eyes drops. Single-use eye drop says one drop or two. So why were my partner's eyes flooded with the whole solution which stings? Plus the excess ran down his cheek causing more pain to his nerve-damaged very sensitive cheek. This was not an experience given by a ‘trained‘ persons.
Also, at least 3 members of staff and a nurse did not know that his bed was not made when I complained about him sleeping on a nylon sheet. This was in fact a mattress protector. Not one of them said that it hadn’t been made.

My brother has difficulty with looking after himself and so the social work department found a bed and a room for him in Fleet Valley. And I am so glad they did because they welcomed my brother with open arms and allayed any fears he had about living there. They are kind, understanding, patient people
with a heck of a job to do which they fulfill to their upmost.

Very satisfied with the treatment of my husband. What I am not satisfied with is he always seems to be wearing somebody's else's clothes. I do sew his name in each item. My last visit, he had a pair of trousers on that didn't belong to him. Apart from that, the staff are excellent.

My mum was a resident at Fleet Valley Care for 3 years; she passed away in February 2020. The care my mum received was of the highest standard that I could ask for, they treated her with respect and dignity as she had become non-verbal in the last year and when she became very poorly my family and I
were with her every day and night. Nothing was too much for the staff and management and this helped us as a family to have as much time with her as possible. We are very grateful and thankful that she had such great care. Many thanks to each and every one.

My wife resided at Fleet Valley for 3 years until she passed away in February 2020 after having dementia for 8 years. The love and care she received from the manager and staff was of the highest quality and I have no hesitation on recommending the nursing home. The staff did everything to make the residents
as comfortable as possible with lovely meals and arranging entertainment and church services and trips in the minibus and birthday cake made on their birthday.

Gran has enjoyed four years in Fleet Valley. Staff have been very caring and accommodated her requirements. The management and staff have been very impressive during the period of covid lockdowns and have tried to allow visits when possible with safety arrangements in place.

I have found Fleet Valley Care Home very good. My husband has dementia and can't speak very well. He is very settled in the home which is great. The problem I have is with the visiting. Since COVID-19 started, visiting has not been good (not just this home). I didn't see my husband for about 18 weeks,
this was a long time as we have been married for 48 years. This was the longest time apart in about 51 years. It was me that suffered and others. Our daughter has not seen her Dad since lockdown as I am the nominated one and she can't go instead. We all live on the same farm. I am only seeing my husband in the garden, I phoned in to get him back into the home as he was very cold.

My late mother lived in Fleet valley for almost 5 years. With living far away I could not visit as often as I wished. However, I need not have worried I could not have found a better care home anywhere. My friends in the same situation could not believe the care, attention, entertainment and social
stimulation my mother received. From days out in the minibus, gardening club, Royal wedding cream teas, whist drives (which she loved) and special Birthday cakes on her Birthday. Mum wanted to visit dad's grave at Twynholm, the home even arranged for this to happen. I was always informed of upcoming hospital appointments. Sadly when mum was in her final illness my husband was also seriously ill in hospital, the home could not offer me enough help, something I will never forget. The manager and her team are angels.

Let me begin by saying that I can't really praise Fleet Valley high enough. My 81-year-old mother had to go in at short notice after my dad collapsed and had to be rushed to hospital. They welcomed my mother with open arms and could not do enough to help her settle in, feel welcome and ensure that she
was looked after to the highest standards. Their professional approach inspired the confidence in me that she was in safe hands. They took time to ensure that my mother was looked after and listened to, entertained and challenged to try new things and encouraged to be part of the care home community - true client-centric care at its best. I will never be able to thank the team enough, not only for looking after my mother but for they how dealt with the situation of lockdown, their commitment to their residents and the families was simply outstanding. I will always be in your debt.

As a family, we couldn’t be happier with the care our mum receives, she settled in very well, and this is very much her home now.
The staff are always happy to help, friendly and supportive, it has a very homely feel but still has the highest quality of care and always with a smile.
They have been

My mother has been a resident in Fleet Valley Gatehouse for many years. The care she receives is second to none. She has been supported throughout her illness with great respect and dignity by all staff and the home feels like extended family. The atmosphere within the home is open, friendly and homely.
The staff are all professional and knowledgeable but manage to combine this with a friendly and relaxed atmosphere within the home. During the Covid situation staff have been fantastic at keeping in touch with emails, letters and photos and facilitating Skype and as a relative, this has been extremely important to me.

My mum went into Fleet Valley in May 2017 for five day emergency respite care. The care Mum received during those five days was excellent and reassured my family that Mum would be well looked after and Fleet Valley was the right care home for Mum as her Dementia progressed. Mum was treated with the

My mother-in-law has lived at Fleet Valley for nearly four years - she is now 104! (Due to the pandemic we could not visit for her recent birthday, but staff arranged a beautiful cake, a little party and Facetime with us.) We chose it for its well-run, welcoming and friendly atmosphere, a decision
we have never regretted. We are unable to visit regularly, but are entirely happy about the care in our absence, and can telephone or email at any time and are kept up-to-date with any developments, illnesses, hospital visits (eg. a broken hip, now mended) etc. When we do visit we are welcomed by cheerful staff, and all our questions are answered. My mother-in-law always looks cared for and well dressed (in her own clothes - makes such a difference), the staff are kind and understanding and she seems contented and healthy, enjoying the activities and the food. Response to the pandemic has been swift and decisive, and we have no concerns or worries about the care or facilities generally.

My mum entered the home on an emergency respite basis after many years of struggling at home. She ended up staying as a resident. We have experienced kindness, professional, empathetic and informative attitudes from everyone who we speak to about my mum. Care staff show dignity and positivity in the
way they provide person-centred work style. I haven’t seen any notes but know they keep up to date daily relevant information of those they care for. My mum loves the meals provided and has very good relationships with staff. Mum can be set in her ways but she says the manager and staff do their best. Following the lockdown, which I would like to emphasise was quickly done, I’ve had email updates regularly. Anytime I ring the home, everyone is informative and go out their way to find out anything I need to know. During lockdown the entertainment that takes place on a daily base is fantastic. Couldn’t recommend a nicer safer place.

Sheila

Sheila Kelly

Job Title: Care Home Manager

Joined: 2008

As a Chartered Manager with a degree qualification in Health and Social Care, Sheila began her career as a care assistant over 30 years ago and had worked in Residential care settings and services specialising in Dementia care before taking up her Manager's role at Fleet Valley Care Home. Sheila's passion had always been to make a difference in the lives of the individuals in her care and to ensure they receive the highest quality care at all times.


Committed to excellence, Sheila's priority is to provide individuals with care in a safe environment where dignity is maintained, personal privacy respected and personal needs are fully met. Sheila's staff team deliver high-quality, compassionate care to all residents living at Fleet Valley, where she is proud of the home's family feel and believes fun and laughter are a priority.


As a manager, Sheila enjoys training and coaching her staff team, sharing information and knowledge from her experience and learning as a Dementia Champion. For Sheila, the true success of being a manager is measured in improving the lives of those around her, if you can help someone meet their goals, and make them smile when they didn't think they could, then that's what truly counts.


Sheila lives with her husband Richard and has one daughter and two grandchildren, when not working Sheila enjoys family time, reading and walking with friends
